ATCF Ch 103 – Men Are Indeed All Liars, Even a Nephew

After calling all the contacts on the list of panda blood donors, Bai Guolin only managed to reach two people. One was a first-year student at Capital University named Lin Zhao, who had only registered but had no history of donating blood. The other was a local cleaning lady named Liu Hui, a 45-year-old woman who had donated blood multiple times in the past.

Bai Guolin sighed. “Liu Hui is too old. Giving her kidney to Ruoruo might not be ideal.”

Jiang Zhou frowned. “Lin Zhao is a student at Capital University with a promising future. I’ve already had someone look into him—his parents are university professors, and his family is well-off. The chances of persuading him to sell his kidney are almost zero.”

Dr. Zheng suggested, “Why don’t we start with Liu Hui? Forty-five is indeed a bit old, but if she’s healthy and a match for Jiang Ruo, donating her kidney shouldn’t be a problem.”

Next, the group proceeded to plan how to get Liu Hui to undergo kidney compatibility testing with Jiang Ruo. Since Liu Hui had a history of voluntary blood donations, she was clearly a compassionate person. The most effective way to deal with someone like that was to exploit her compassion. However, donating a kidney was not a small matter, and they couldn’t approach her directly about it; otherwise, it would only complicate matters if she refused to undergo testing.

After much discussion, it was finally decided that Bai Guolin would contact Liu Hui under the guise of a blood donation center staff. Bai Guolin fabricated a story about having a younger sister with panda blood who had leukemia. He asked Liu Hui to come in for a bone marrow compatibility test and added that if the match was successful, he hoped she would donate her bone marrow.

Liu Hui did some research online and found that donating bone marrow wouldn’t cause significant long-term effects on her health. So, being a kind-hearted person that she was, she immediately agreed to Bai Guolin’s request.

After she agreed, Bai Guolin and Jiang Zhou were overjoyed, but their excitement quickly turned to disappointment when Liu Hui and Jiang Ruo turned out not to be a match.

Liu Hui was also a bit regretful upon learning the results. Seeing the two of youths looking so despondent, she kindly offered words of comfort: “I didn’t match with her, but you can keep looking for others. Your little sister’s still young, so there’s hope.”

However, neither of them paid any attention to Liu Hui’s kind words. Once they realized she was no longer of use to them, they didn’t even bother pretending to be polite.

After the failed match with Liu Hui, Bai Guolin immediately thought of the person who had recently visited the blood donation center. Since he had swapped the blood sample, the donation center staff had tested the sample and found it wasn’t panda blood. They assumed the donor had misremembered their blood type and simply asked Bai Guolin to notify her.

Bai Guolin called the young woman to inform her that her blood test was fine and to ask if she could donate blood for his ‘sister.’ To his surprise, the woman replied that she couldn’t donate blood at the moment because she had recently discovered she was pregnant and needed to focus on taking care of her health.

With this option off the table, they were left with only one choice: contacting Lin Zhao, the student at Capital University. If Lin Zhao’s kidney didn’t match Jiang Ruo’s, they would have to move on to another blood donation center and try to obtain a new list of panda blood donors.

When Lin Zhao received a call from someone claiming to be a staff member at the blood donation center, he immediately thought of Bai Guolin. The caller wasn’t asking him to donate blood but to undergo a bone marrow compatibility test, saying it was for his panda-blooded ‘sister’ who had leukemia.

Lin Zhao directly asked, “Donating bone marrow doesn’t require matching blood types, does it?”

Bai Guolin’s heart skipped a beat, but he maintained his composure and replied, “That’s true, but if the blood types match, there’s no risk of hemolysis, and the chances of success are higher.”

After two seconds of silence, Lin Zhao agreed to the request. As soon as he hung up, he went to find Tong Yi and told him about the call.

Tong Yi checked the call log and nodded. “It’s definitely them trying to contact you. If you decide to go along with it, I’ll have people follow you discreetly to ensure your safety. But if you don’t want to—”

“I want to,” Lin Zhao interrupted. “Jiang Li told me that Bai Guolin is a lunatic. Even if I refuse, they’ll just target someone else. It’s dangerous to let them free.”

Tong Yi patted Lin Zhao on the shoulder. “It’s risky, but there won’t be any problems. I’ll definitely call the police in time.”

Lin Zhao took a deep breath. “Don’t tell Jiang Li or Wen Wan about this. I don’t want Wen Wan to worry.”

Jiang Li was practically inseparable from Wen Wan; If Jiang Li knew, Wen Wan might notice something was wrong.

Tong Yi nodded, “No problem.”

When Lin Zhao agreed to undergo the bone marrow test, Jiang Zhou and Bai Guolin were overjoyed. When they received the compatibility report, their excitement skyrocketed—Lin Zhao’s kidney was a perfect match for Ruoruo’s. This meant the risk of rejection after transplantation would be negligible.

With the compatibility report in hand, Jiang Zhou immediately approached Lin Zhao and asked him to donate a kidney to his sister, offering monetary compensation as well.

Lin Zhao hadn’t expected to be a match for Jiang Ruo. After staring at Jiang Zhou for a few seconds, he calmly said, “I refuse.”

Without giving Jiang Zhou a chance to respond, he continued, “The test you had me undergo wasn’t for bone marrow compatibility, was it? It was for kidney compatibility.”

Jiang Zhou hesitated before nodding reluctantly. “We were desperate. Even if you let go one of your kidneys for my sister, you can still live.”

Lin Zhao shook his head again. “You weren’t honest from the beginning, so I won’t agree to your request. I’ll also block your contact information. There’s no need to reach out to me again.”

Jiang Zhou was stunned.

From that day forward, Jiang Zhou repeatedly visited Lin Zhao, trying to persuade him to donate his kidney to Jiang Ruo. But every time, he received the same answer.

A month later, it was Bai Guolin who first lost patience. “We’ll never convince him, and using public opinion to coerce him won’t work either.”

If Ruoruo were still the beloved young star she once was, they could buy trending topics on social media and use her fans to pressure Lin Zhao into donating. In such a scenario, public opinion might force Lin Zhao to give in.

But now, Jiang Ruo’s reputation was in tatters. The labels of ‘illegitimate daughter’ and ‘fake’ had already driven her to a desperate situation. If they tried to use public opinion to coerce Lin Zhao, the backlash would likely be overwhelming, with people claiming that Jiang Ruo didn’t even deserve Lin Zhao’s kidney.

Jiang Zhou’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “If legal means don’t work, then we’ll have to resort to illegal ones.”

Bai Guolin remained silent for a few seconds before nodding. “It seems that’s the only way, but will Dr. Zheng cooperate?”

Jiang Zhou’s lips curled into a faint smile. “He won’t agree willingly, of course, since this is a criminal act. But everyone has a weakness. Even if he’s unwilling, we can arrange it so that he will comply.”

“How?” Bai Guolin was puzzled.

Jiang Zhou instructed. “You return to Minjiang alone and find a way to kidnap his son. With his son as a hostage, he’ll have no choice but to obey us.”

Bai Guolin nodded immediately. “For Miss Ruoruo, I’m willing to do anything.”

That very afternoon, Bai Guolin returned to Minjiang. His first move was to befriend Dr. Zheng’s son, disguising himself as a fellow gambling buddy. After gaining his trust, he successfully knocked him out and locked him up in a remote warehouse in the suburb. Bai Guolin then took a video and sent it to Dr. Zheng.

Dr. Zheng stared at Jiang Zhou with terrified eyes. “You two… you two are maniacs! Absolute maniacs!”

Jiang Zhou calmly nodded. “We are indeed maniacs. And maniacs are capable of anything. If you want your son to stay alive, you’ll have to follow a maniac’s orders.”

Dr. Zheng had no choice but to comply. Jiang Zhou had already confiscated his phone, cutting off all contact with the outside world. To ensure his son’s safety, Dr. Zheng was forced to become Jiang Zhou’s puppet.

That same evening, Bai Guolin returned. Dr. Zheng glared at him with a mix of fear and shock. “What have you done to my son?!”

Bai Guolin smirked menacingly. “Don’t worry, being starved one or two days won’t kill anyone. After the surgery is successful, we’ll return your son to you safe and sound.”

The next day, Jiang Zhou visited Lin Zhao again. This time, he apologized, claiming his previous actions had been too impulsive and asking for Lin Zhao’s forgiveness.

Lin Zhao, fully aware of Jiang Zhou’s sinister plan, pretended to nod with sympathy. “I feel bad about your sister’s illness, but I’m afraid I can’t help.”

Jiang Zhou nodded as well and then asked, “Would you at least come to visit my sister? She’s a sweet girl, and I’d appreciate it if you could talk to her and encourage her.”

Lin Zhao pretended to hesitate before agreeing to Jiang Zhou’s request.

Jiang Li had been waiting for Jiang Zhou and Bai Guolin to make their move, but Tong Yi hadn’t passed along any updates.

Wen Wan couldn’t help but mutter in frustration, “Bai Guolin and Jiang Zhou are so disgusting. Ever since I found out they’ve teamed up, I’ve been on edge. Do you think anything’s happened to Lin Zhao?”

Jiang Li shook her head. “Tong Yi has had people keeping an eye on Bai Guolin. Nothing will happen. Don’t worry.”

However, that afternoon, Jiang Li saw news about Lin Zhao on the cafeteria TV. But the ones in trouble with the law weren’t Lin Zhao—it was Jiang Zhou, Bai Guolin, and the unethical family doctor who had once worked for the Feng family.

Wen Wan was trembling all over. “L-Lin Zhao… he did something this dangerous without even telling me!”

Jiang Li nodded. “Yeah, I’m surprised too.”

Her Big Nephew must have known about this beforehand, yet he didn’t tell her either.

Ha! Men are indeed all liars, even a nephew!

So much for claiming he’d notify her the moment there was news. What a blatant lie!
