Jiang Li replied cheerfully, “My eldest brother is getting married tomorrow, and I’m going to be a bridesmaid.”
Wang Simin’s eyes lit up, “Is your sister-in-law beautiful?”
Jiang Li nodded, “Very, and she is easy to get along with too.”
Wang Simin dramatically clutched her chest, “That’s good, that’s good. Otherwise, you being the bridesmaid might steal the limelight from the bride.”
“I’m rushing home, so I won’t talk anymore.” Jiang Li slung her backpack over her shoulder and dashed off, disappearing in an instant.
At the school gate, Jiang Li spotted the Feng family’s car and knew her grandfather had sent the driver to pick her up. After getting in and buckling up, the car quickly headed toward the Feng family’s residence.
Upon arriving home, Jiang Li saw that the lawn had been flawlessly transformed into a Western-style wedding venue, with many close relatives and friends already gathered. Among the crowd, Tong Yi stood out in his well-tailored suit. It had been two months since Jiang Li last saw Tong Yi, and even though it hadn’t been long, she felt he looked more mature than before. Was it due to the suit? Boys often look more mature in a formal suit.
Sensing Jiang Li’s gaze, Tong Yi turned around, his eyes lighting up as he quickly approached her. Seeing Jiang Li still in her school uniform and carrying her backpack, he teased, “Your brother is getting married tomorrow, and you’re only coming back today, and so late at that.”
“I wanted to come back earlier, but Grandpa said I wouldn’t be much help and that I might as well not skip classes,” Jiang Li replied truthfully.
“Alright, but you should try on your bridesmaid dress soon, in case it needs to be altered,” Tong Yi suggested.
Jiang Li looked at Tong Yi curiously, “The wedding’s tomorrow. Why are you here now?”
Before Tong Yi could answer, Feng Song and Feng Bai came over, with Feng Bai loudly complaining, “Because our big nephew is shameless, that is! He threw a tantrum, insisting on being a groomsman, so he naturally has to stay with our family to go fetch the bride tomorrow.”
Traditionally, bridesmaids are friends and relatives of the bride, while groomsmen are friends of the groom. Hearing that Jiang Li was going to be a bridesmaid for his aunt, Tong Yi declared he would be a groomsman, claiming it was only fair.
Thinking that it was another of Tong Yi’s whimsy, Tong Nian didn’t care much and agreed on the spot. Since the number of bridesmaids and groomsmen wasn’t fixed, adding him was no issue.
Even when Feng Bai badmouthed him and called him “shameless,” and “throwing tantrum,” Tong Yi pretended not to hear. He ignored the twins and smiled at Jiang Li, “Someone will come to take you to the Tong residence later. There are a few other bridesmaids there, all friends of my aunt. You can chat with them and just wait for us to come fetch the bride tomorrow.”
Jiang Li nodded, “Is my bridesmaid dress at your family’s place?”
Tong Yi shook his head, “It has already been sent over. Hurry and try them on. You have to choose a suitable one to wear tomorrow.”
Since Jiang Li had just returned from school, she was completely unfamiliar with the wedding process and naturally could only follow the arrangements. She handed her schoolbag to Tong Yi and then went to try on the bridesmaid dress immediately. She found that the sizes all fit her perfectly, and the colors were all pink, with the only difference being in the styles. Jiang Li chose a relatively simple style, and after trying it on, she felt particularly satisfied with herself.
Not long after, a driver sent by the Tong family arrived and picked Jiang Li up. After arriving at the Tong family’s place, Jiang Li realized that being a bridesmaid was not an easy task. Just having the stylist plan her hairstyle and makeup took quite a bit of time. The Tong family had invited quite a few bridesmaids; in addition to her, there were seven other girls around Tong Nian’s age, including two with foreign-looking faces. Jiang Li clearly felt that those girls were very kind to her, and she almost didn’t need to worry about anything.
While the other bridesmaids were busy chatting, Jiang Li found their topics not very interesting, so she went out with the excuse of getting some air but was stopped by a little girl with her hair in double buns. “Are you Prodigy God Jiang?” The little girl looked at her with big eyes.
Jiang Li found the little girl particularly cute and couldn’t help but pinch her hair bun, saying gently, “I’m Jiang Li, you can call me Sister Jiang Li.”
The little girl immediately smiled, but quickly covered her mouth with her hand—she had recently lost her front teeth—and said shyly, “My name is Youyou, I’m eight years old, Sister Jiang Li, you are my idol, I want to be as awesome as you when I grow up.”
Jiang Li smiled and couldn’t resist poking the girl’s soft hair bun again, encouraging, “Youyou will be even more awesome than me in the future.”
Hearing Jiang Li say this, the little girl smiled even more happily. She took out a piece of milk candy from her pocket and offered it, “This is for you, Sister.”
Since her idol let her call her Sister Jiang Li, Youyou simply shortened it and directly called her ‘sister’.
“Youyou, how did you get here?” A gentle voice came over, and Jiang Li looked up to see a young man in a suit standing opposite her. The young man looked about the same age as her two twin cousins at home, appearing quite mature, but his face gave her a very familiar feeling, easily reminding her of Tong Yi.
“Hello, I’m Tong Xu, Youyou’s brother. You must be the bridesmaid invited by my aunt, right?” Tong Xu looked at Jiang Li, his expression especially gentle.
Jiang Li politely replied, “My name is Jiang Li, I am Sister Tong’s bridesmaid, and also Feng Yang’s younger sister.” If she wasn’t mistaken, this Tong Xu must be the son of Tong Yi’s uncle, which makes him Tong Yi’s cousin, and the little girl named Youyou must be another cousin.
Hearing Jiang Li’s introduction, Tong Xu looked a bit surprised, “So you are Jiang Li. I’ve often heard my aunt mention you, saying you are the most beautiful and intelligent girl she has ever seen. Now I see she wasn’t exaggerating at all.”
When he passed by the room used by the bridesmaids earlier, he had already noticed this overly beautiful girl. Just now, seeing her being followed by Youyou, he couldn’t help but walk over. However, Tong Xu never expected that this slim and tall girl would still be a high school student, still a minor.
