After he saved her, Feng Yun visited him at the hospital every day. Jiang Huai was preoccupied with Jiang Ya’s medical bills and had no time to deal with this princess, but Feng Yun was unfazed by his coldness. Gradually, the look in her eyes began to change, and Jiang Huai realized she was falling for him.
At first, he was conflicted, but as time passed, he found himself drawn to Feng Yun’s warmth. He even began doing things that he never thought he would—like refusing to spend Feng Yun’s money and even saving his own meager living expenses to buy her gifts. Though the gifts were cheap, Feng Yun always smiled like a fool when she received them.
Jiang Ya noticed his change but thought he was playing a long game to reel in a big fish and even offered him advice on how to win Feng Yun’s heart. Eventually, Jiang Huai and Feng Yun started dating. When Feng Yun found out that his ‘cousin’ was seriously ill, she generously gave him a card, saying it contained her monthly allowance and he should use it for his cousin’s treatment.
A month’s pocket money shouldn’t be much. Thinking it was just a small amount, Jiang Huai told Feng Yun he would consider it a loan and took the card to Jiang Ya. But when Jiang Ya checked the balance, she found it held a million yuan—more than enough for a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, Jiang Ya had a rare blood type, making it extremely difficult to find a suitable kidney.
Realizing Feng Yun was no ordinary rich girl, Jiang Ya began urging Jiang Huai to marry her, saying that once they were married, he could use the Feng family’s connections to advance his career. With a successful career, he would have more resources to find her a kidney.
At that time, Jiang Huai’s feelings for Feng Yun were complicated, but he agreed almost immediately. With his hints, Feng Yun soon brought him home to meet her family, who treated him warmly.
If Feng Yun hadn’t taken him on a tour of her family’s large estate, he might have doubted that the Feng family wasn’t as wealthy as the rumors claimed. Feng Yun’s father and her two elder brothers were all too down-to-earth. As for Feng Yun’s younger brother, though he wasn’t very warm, he didn’t cause any trouble either.
But the next day, the Feng family confronted Jiang Huai, presenting detailed information about his past relationships and demanding that he leave Feng Yun.
Jiang Huai still remembered his shock at the time. He had never known how easily the wealthy could dig up his past. Fortunately, the Feng family believed Jiang Ya was his cousin and didn’t investigate further, so they didn’t discover their real relationship.
Fearing the Feng family would uncover more, Jiang Huai eloped with Feng Yun. After Jiang Zhou was born, he and Feng Yun returned to the Feng family.
But due to a night of drunkenness, he and Jiang Ya crossed that last line and she became pregnant, coinciding with Feng Yun’s second pregnancy. Later, his two daughters were born on the same day, and Jiang Huai was both happy and worried.
Later, his relationship with the Feng family fell apart when his career was just beginning to take off. Concerned that the Feng family might discover his affair with Jiang Ya, he decided to leave the Feng family and take Feng Yun with him.
Feng Yun, pure-hearted and devoted entirely to him, never suspected his relationship with Jiang Ya. She didn’t even know that her own daughter had been secretly swapped by Jiang Ya. Babies change rapidly, and neither Feng Yun nor Jiang Huai noticed the switch.
At that time, Jiang Huai was successful in his career, had a loving wife, and was blessed with both a son and a daughter—he was riding high. Jiang Huai knew he had fallen in love with Feng Yun, so he went to Jiang Ya to confess, telling her that while he would continue to help her find a kidney, he could no longer offer her love. Jiang Ya, however, smiled strangely as she looked at the baby in the cradle. Jiang Huai intended to comfort her, but Feng Yun called him just then, so he hurried home.
Three days later, Jiang Ya asked to meet him on the bridge over the Minjiang River. There, she revealed that she had swapped the two children and already sent Feng Yun’s biological daughter away. Then, she jumped into the Minjiang River.
Jiang Huai jumped in after her, but unfortunately, it was already too late to rescue her.
…
After finishing the story, Jiang Huai looked at Feng Yun. “All these years, I’ve spoiled Ruoruo because I felt guilty toward Jiang Ya, but I truly love you, Yunyun. You have to believe me.” He knew Feng Yun was innocent and kind-hearted; now that he had told her the truth, he was sure she would understand him.
With a knife in her hand, Feng Yun smiled as she clapped. “What a touching story. If it weren’t for the fact that you never went looking for Xiao Li, I might have believed you actually loved me!”
“It’s true. I didn’t look for Xiao Li because I didn’t want you to find out about my affair. I was afraid you’d leave me,” Jiang Huai explained anxiously.
“But you wanted Xiao Li to donate a kidney to Jiang Ruo. If I had the same rare blood type, would you have made me donate a kidney to your Jiang Ya as well?” With a frenzied look, Feng Yun slashed at Jiang Huai, causing him to scream in pain as a long cut appeared on his arm.
Feng Yun remained eerily calm. “For you, I became estranged from my family. For your illegitimate daughter, I hurt my own daughter over and over again. My life is ruined now. I have no home to return to, my son sides with your mistress’s daughter, and my daughter doesn’t even recognize me. So let’s just torture each other!”
With that, Feng Yun made another slash toward Jiang Huai’s face. Still too weak to dodge or resist, Jiang Huai’s screams grew even more desperate.
His cries quickly drew the attention of the medical staff, who rushed to the room and found him with a bloodied face and arms, while Feng Yun stood calmly beside him, holding a fruit knife smeared with blood.
“Should… should we call the police?” one of the medical staff asked.
Feng Yun turned around, “I wanted to peel some fruit for my husband, but I accidentally hurt him. Do we need to bother the police?”
Jiang Huai, curled up on the bed in terror, glanced at Feng Yun, only to see that her eyes were devoid of any emotion. Fearing Feng Qi’s retaliation, Jiang Huai quickly turned to the medical staff and said, “My wife just accidentally hurt me; there’s no need to call the police. Just treat my wounds, please.”
The medical staff: “…”
If the sight of the wife holding a bloodied knife with a calm expression made them uneasy, then the husband’s refusal to let them call the police, despite being injured, showed that something was definitely off. They had often seen news reports about wives being abused by their husbands, where concerned bystanders called the police, only for the abused wives to refuse any help from the authorities and even get angry at the bystanders for meddling in their family’s affairs.
It was similar to the current situation, except now it was the husband who was being abused, and the wife was the one who had acted violently. Yet, the husband still didn’t want them to call the police.
The medical staff looked between Feng Yun and Jiang Huai, ultimately deciding that it wasn’t their place to meddle in domestic affairs. Since the husband didn’t want them to call the police, they couldn’t interfere either.
One of the staff glanced nervously at Feng Yun before proceeding to disinfect and bandage Jiang Huai’s wounds. He then informed Jiang Huai that they would need to perform a skin test for a tetanus shot and, if there were no issues, administer the vaccine.
Throughout the entire process, Jiang Huai kept looking at Feng Yun with a terrified expression, while Feng Yun stared out the lush trees outside the window, not sparing him even a glance. After bandaging his wounds, the medical staff left the room. Jiang Huai hesitated for a long time before finally calling out, “Yunyun.”
Feng Yun turned around and looked at him, “Does it hurt?”
Jiang Huai hesitated for a while before nodding, “It hurts.” He was hoping that Feng Yun had lashed out at him out of extreme sadness and anger, and now that she had actually wounded him, perhaps her anger had subsided. If she was willing to move forward and live peacefully with him, there might still be a chance to salvage their relationship.
Feng Yun, seeing right through his thoughts, smiled eerily, “Are you thinking that once my anger fades, this matter will be over?”
Jiang Huai: “…”
Feng Yun continued, “You are wrong. It will never be over—not in this lifetime. If I had only found out that you had an affair years ago and had a child with another woman, I would surely be heartbroken and sad, but I might have let it go out of consideration for the many years we’ve been married.”
“Yunyun, I…”
“But if I were to forgive you, all the suffering Xiao Li endured over the years would have been for nothing. If she hadn’t been brought back to my family by A’Qi three years ago, her kidney might already be in Jiang Ruo’s body by now, don’t you think?”
Feng Yun’s expression remained calm and her tone was especially gentle, but this only intensified Jiang Huai’s fear. It was clear now: Feng Yun hadn’t released her anger by injuring him, and even worse, it seemed she wouldn’t be calming down anytime soon. Until her anger subsided, she would likely do everything she could to make his life miserable.
In the past, Jiang Huai had dared to challenge the Feng family because he knew Feng Yun would always stand by his side. The Feng family, aware of this, wouldn’t do anything drastic to him. However, now that Feng Yun herself was against him, he was completely at a loss.

Both Jiang Hui and Jiang Ya are selfish, disgusting people and her dying before the start of the story isn’t enough punishment in my eyes. I do feel bad for Feng Yun though, she gave up her family for a man that never truly loved her, he allowed the mistress to swap their children and never once tried to save Jiang Li. He even mistreated her when they did get her back. Even Feng yun’s own son chose others over her. This may be her karma for being an easily led fool, but the most evil thing she ever did was go along/side with the Jiang’s. But ignorance is it’s own kind of cruelty.
