On the way to the hospital, Bai Guolin told Jiang Ruo about what he had gone through over the past three years.
After returning to his father’s hometown, he was immediately placed in the top class at the county’s best school. His days became a monotonous routine of studying, and during the winter and summer breaks, his father enrolled him in various tutoring courses. Only on weekends did he sneak a look at Jiang Ruo’s livestreams, using part of his allowance to send her virtual gifts or buy products.
After the college entrance exams, he learned that Jiang Ruo was ill and immediately wanted to go to Minjiang to see her. But his father found out and locked him up, refusing to let him even attend his class’s graduation party.
This time, he managed to come to Minjiang by tearing his bedsheets into a rope and sneaking out the window. Unfortunately, he was unable to use one arm, so he ended up falling while climbing down.
But it was worth it. If he hadn’t come, Miss Ruoruo might not have survived!
After hearing his story, Jiang Ruo couldn’t help but shake her head. “Do you know for every virtual gift sent to a livestreamer, the platform took half of it?”
Bai Guolin nodded, “I-I know, b-but I didn’t dare to contact you directly.”
Jiang Ruo sighed softly and said in a low voice, “Why? We’re friends, aren’t we?”
“F-friends?” Bai Guolin could hardly believe his ears.
Jiang Ruo nodded, “Yes, you can just call me Ruoruo from now on. That’s what my other friends used to call me.”
Bai Guolin’s eyes widened in disbelief. At that moment, he felt like the happiest person in the world.
…
After parting with Feng Qi, Jiang Li returned to her room. While she was washing up, Tong Yi called. Jiang Li put her phone on speaker and answered the call while brushing her teeth.
“Jiang Xiao Li, have you seen the latest trending topics?” Tong Yi asked.
Jiang Li answered honestly, “Yeah, what’s up?”
“Turns out Jiang Ruo is Jiang Huai’s illegitimate daughter! This is too surreal! I used to think he didn’t reveal your identity because he wanted to use Jiang Ruo for a business marriage, but now I realize he’s way more shameless than I imagined,” Tong Yi remarked in amazement.
Even more amazing, Jiang Xiao Li had previously told him that when the Jiang family came to ask her to donate a kidney, Jiang Zhou had boldly declared that Jiang Ruo was his lover and future wife.
There was no way Jiang Huai hadn’t noticed that his own son had fallen for his daughter, and yet he continued keeping the truth from Jiang Zhou. What a disgusting man!
“Yeah, I didn’t expect it either.” Jiang Li responded. In the original plot, there was no mention of Jiang Ruo being Jiang Huai’s illegitimate daughter, and Jiang Zhou never developed romantic feelings for Jiang Ruo. But ever since she became ‘Jiang Li,’ a series of butterfly effects had occurred, bringing these old secrets to light.
“If I’m not mistaken, your third uncle must have known about this all along. I mean, it’s Third Master Feng we are talking about…”
“Yes, you’re right. He knew a long time ago.” Jiang Li’s response was nonchalant.
“…” Tong Yi was completely amazed. Third Master Feng knew the truth all along but kept silent for only one reason: he didn’t want Ms. Feng to find out the truth too early and start bothering Jiang Xiao Li!
In fact, Third Master Feng’s maneuver had not only outsmarted Ms. Feng but also his own father, Old Master Feng!
After this incident, whatever happens in the future, Old Master Feng would have no grounds to ask Jiang Xiao Li to forgive Ms. Feng.
Once he figured out the whole picture, Tong Yi suddenly shuddered. If… if Third Master Feng found out that he was coveting his precious niece, would he end up on the receiving end of his plot as well?
Well, it was a good thing Jiang Xiao Li was about to leave for college! Once she was far away, even the powerful Third Master Feng would find it hard to interfere!
“Hey, why are you suddenly silent?” Jiang Li’s voice interrupted Tong Yi’s thoughts.
“You see, I originally planned to find another chance to give that bastard Jiang Zhou another good beating, but now it seems I should let him heal his psychological wounds before subjecting him to physical torment.” Tong Yi replied.
At this point, Tong Yi realized that Third Master Feng was indeed a very competent uncle. He had solved all the problems, leaving Jiang Xiao Li’s (self-proclaimed) suitor no opportunity to show off!
“Big Nephew, do you realize you’re already twenty?” Jiang Li suddenly asked.
Tong Yi was momentarily stunned. “Yeah, so what?” Could it be that Jiang Xiao Li thought he was too old?
But it’s only a two-year difference! That shouldn’t be too big of a deal, right?
Jiang Li calmly continued, “I’m just reminding you that you’re already an adult. Beating people is against the law, you know? Maybe we should think of other ways.”
Tong Yi quickly responded, “Fine, I won’t hit him. How about I mess with Jiang Huai’s company instead? Would that be okay?”
If Jiang Huai goes bankrupt, Jiang Zhou would become a poor second-generation heir. He wouldn’t be able to spend money freely anymore and would have to endure the gossip of his former friends and acquaintances. That actually sounds quite satisfying!
“No need. My uncle has already frozen Jiang Huai’s assets. I think when Jiang Huai finds out, he’ll probably be so angry that he’ll end up in the hospital.”
Tong Yi: “…”
Uncle, you’re too awesome!
And I’m completely useless!
After Jiang Li finished brushing her teeth, she said, “I’m going to hang up now. I have to attend Qin Zheng’s graduation banquet tomorrow, so I plan to go to bed early tonight.”
After the call disconnected, Tong Yi squinted slightly. Qin Zheng’s graduation banquet? And he wasn’t invited?
Even though Qin Zheng didn’t invite him, Qin Lin had invited his uncle, so Tong Xu would likely attend.
After realizing this, Tong Yi immediately dialed Feng Bai’s number.
Five seconds later, Feng Bai’s voice came through the receiver, “Big Nephew, what made you remember to call your uncle today?”
Tong Yi skipped the banter and got straight to the point. “Are you going to Qin Zheng’s graduation banquet tomorrow?”
The reply came immediately: “No, I’m not even his friend.”
“But Jiang Xiao Li is going,” Tong Yi said.
“So?”
“I found out today that my cousin was at home trying on suits, dressing up like a peacock. He clearly knows Jiang Xiao Li will be at the banquet…”
“Damn! Then I must go too,” Feng Bai interrupted Tong Yi. “See if that shameless old man dares to cling to Xiao Jiang Li!”
Tong Yi casually added, “Take me with you when you go. I can help you come up with some ideas.”
“Sure! Big Nephew, you’re so loyal!” Feng Bai praised.
“…” Tong Yi suddenly made a silent promise to never make fun of Feng Bai’s naivety ever again. Compared to the cunning old schemer Third Master Feng, Feng Bai might be a bit naïve, but sometimes he was actually quite adorable!
