Jiang Ruo spent the entire night in the room at the rural inn. She couldn’t remember when she fell asleep, but when she finally woke up and reached for the phone by her pillow, she realized it was already midday. As she sat up, she felt groggy and her stomach was particularly uncomfortable. She knew she couldn’t keep neglecting her health like this; skipping breakfast regularly could lead to serious stomach issues.
Moving sluggishly, Jiang Ruo got out of bed, and the moment she opened the door, she was surprised to find Bai Guolin wrapped in a blanket, sleeping against her door.
The sound of the door opening woke Bai Guolin, who immediately stood up, shook his numb legs, and rubbed his eyes before saying, “M-mis—oh, I—I mean Ruoruo… y-you’re awake? I… I’ll go get you breakfast.”
Jiang Ruo looked at him and frowned. “Did you sleep outside my door all night?”
Bai Guolin’s face turned red immediately, “I was… I was worried something might happen to you.”
Jiang Ruo shook her head. “You don’t need to worry about me. I told you I’m going to live well, and I won’t think of ending my life again.”
After a few moments of silence, Bai Guolin said, “T-then… I’ll go get breakfast now.”
What Jiang Ruo didn’t know was that Bai Guolin wasn’t just worried she might harm herself—he was also afraid she would leave on her own, which is why he stayed outside her door all night. Now that she seemed calm, he was finally relieved to go downstairs and get her some food.
Five minutes later, he returned with two boxed meals from the landlady. Both of them were starving, so they quickly finished their meals. After they had eaten, Bai Guolin looked at Jiang Ruo and said, “R-Ruoruo, p-please don’t lose hope. I’ll… I’ll figure something out about your kidney.”
Jiang Ruo shook her head. “Aside from dialysis, there’s no other solution. I’ve already accepted my fate.”
“T-that’s not true,” Bai Guolin said anxiously “Y-you could get a kidney transplant. I…”
Jiang Ruo interrupted, shaking her head again. “It’s not easy to find a compatible kidney with my blood type. Even if we find a match, the donor might not agree to give it to me. Don’t waste your efforts.”
“T-there’s Jiang Li…”
“Don’t mention that name in front of me,” Jiang Ruo snapped, her reaction intense.
Seeing that her outburst had frightened Bai Guolin, she sighed and explained, “Do you know why I’m in this situation? It’s because I once foolishly hoped that Jiang Li might donate her kidney to me.”
To ensure that Bai Guolin didn’t get the wrong idea, she continued, “Jiang Li will never agree. And don’t even think about trying to force her—if anything happens to her, the Feng family will chase me to the end of the earth. Do you understand?”
After a long silence, Bai Guolin finally nodded. “I—I understand. I’ll… I’ll think of another way.”
Jiang Ruo shook her head again. “No need. The only option now is to continue with dialysis. Compared to many others, I’m already very fortunate. At least, I don’t have to worry about the cost of treatment.”
The money Qin Zheng had given her was enough to last her a lifetime. If she was fortunate to find a compatible kidney, she could undergo the transplant surgery right away—although she was well aware that she couldn’t allow herself to be too hopeful.
“If you’re still set on targeting Jiang Li’s kidney, then don’t bother seeing me again. Let’s just pretend we never knew each other.” Jiang Ruo sternly warned.
Bai Guolin hurriedly responded, “I won’t do that. I… I’ll listen to you. I’ll stay with you and help you through this.”
Suddenly, Bai Guolin felt his phone buzzing in his pocket. His old phone had been ruined after he jumped into the river, but the SIM card was still usable. When Jiang Ruo bought her phone yesterday, she had also bought one for him, so he could have a working phone.
He retrieved his phone from his pocket and saw that his father was calling, so he simply ignored the call and let it vibrate silently.
“Aren’t you going to answer your father’s call?” Jiang Ruo asked.
Bai Guolin shook his head without hesitation. “N-no. He’s telling me to go home, but I don’t want to go back yet.”
Jiang Ruo frowned, “You should answer. He’s your family, and if you don’t pick up, he’ll worry.”
After a few seconds of hesitation, Bai Guolin finally answered the call. The moment the line connected, Assistant Bai’s angry voice boomed through the receiver. “I know you’re with Jiang Ruo right now. If you keep staying with her, I’ll report it to the police and contact the media, saying that Jiang Ruo has seduced my son, and I’ll offer a reward for finding her!”
Bai Guolin hastily responded, “Dad, you can’t do that!”
“Why not? You know Jiang Ruo is a public figure. A lot of people know her face and name. If I expose her, her reputation will be ruined. Let’s see if she can bear to keep living after that.”
Assistant Bai’s voice was loud enough for Jiang Ruo to hear clearly, and when the word ‘seduce’ reached her ears, her expression instantly darkened. Once Bai Guolin ended the call, she spoke with a cold tone, “You’d better head home quickly, before your father says something even worse about me.”
Bai Guolin tried to explain in panic, “N-no! It’s… it’s not like that. He’s just talking nonsense. P-please don’t be upset, Ruoruo. My dad, he… A-anyway, please don’t be upset.”
Seeing Bai Guolin stumbling over his words, Jiang Ruo sighed, “I’m not upset with you, but you need to go back soon. My situation is already very difficult. Although your dad is speaking out of anger, I don’t want those angry words to become reality, do you understand?”
Bai Guolin understood that staying in Minjiang was no longer an option. If his father acted irrationally, it could be disastrous for Miss Ruoruo. After a long pause, he finally said, “I—I… I understand what you’re saying. I won’t do anything to Jiang Li, b-but… there are other options.”
Jiang Ruo looked at him, “What other ways?”
“Jiang Li does have panda blood, but she isn’t the only one. If we search together, we… we’ll eventually find a match,” Bai Guolin said with conviction.
Jiang Ruo shook her head, “People with panda blood aren’t that easy to find.”
Bai Guolin quickly explained, “I—I know they’re hard to find, but I can volunteer at a blood donation center once I start university. If we come across someone with panda blood, we’ll have a chance.”
As Miss Ruoruo said, Jiang Li was protected by the Feng family. If they really made a move against her, the Feng family surely wouldn’t let it slide, and if they later found out that Miss Ruoruo had undergone a kidney transplant, they would undoubtedly hold her responsible.
Under those circumstances, even if Miss Ruoruo received a kidney, she wouldn’t be able to live in peace, so targeting Jiang Li was indeed irrational.
However, there were still others in the world who shared Miss Ruoruo’s rare blood type, and not all of them were as well-protected as Jiang Li. If he volunteered at a blood donation center, he would find the right match sooner or later, and he would do whatever it took to secure their kidney for Miss Ruoruo.
Hearing Bai Guolin’s words, Jiang Ruo was tempted. She really didn’t dare to covet Jiang Li’s kidney anymore, but if Bai Guolin could find another person with panda blood who matched her, wouldn’t she be cured?
“S-so you have to keep living. We’ll definitely… definitely come up with a solution. Where are you planning to go to university? M-my dad filled out my application for a school in Beijing.” Bai Guolin looked at Jiang Ruo.
Jiang Ruo frowned, “I originally aimed too high with my application and need to adjust it. I haven’t decided where to apply yet.”
Bai Guolin immediately said, “T-then apply to a school in Beijing, okay?” As he asked this, his expression was particularly nervous, afraid that Jiang Ruo would refuse him.
Jiang Ruo hesitated for a few seconds, then finally nodded, “Okay.” For her, it didn’t really matter where she went, so she might as well go to Beijing with Bai Guolin. At least she’d have a friend nearby.
After they made the promise, Bai Guolin finally no longer rejected going home. He sent a message to his father, asking him to give him three days and saying that he would go home as soon as he had settled Jiang Ruo.
Assistant Bai, fearing that Bai Guolin might do something extreme if pushed too hard, agreed to his request.
Jiang Ruo didn’t have an ID card and couldn’t take a plane, so they chartered a car and drove to Beijing. After they arrived, Bai Guolin rented an apartment near the university he would be attending and arranged everything for Jiang Ruo before buying a ticket to return to his hometown. From then on, they kept in touch.
After returning home, Bai Guolin was immediately locked up by his father again, but he didn’t mind. As soon as the new term started, he would go to Beijing and see Miss Ruoruo again.

Sooo they won’t target Jiang Li because she’s protected by the Feng family. But it’s okay to target some poor random person with panda blood. I notice sweet RouRou didn’t say to not do anything illegal in this case. Great morales.
