With only Mo Ziwan for company during the boring confinement, Lu Yaoyao started talking to him. It was an opportunity to seek advice on alchemy. The two of them talked enthusiastically, and time flew by quickly.
When the door of the confinement room was opened three days later, Lu Yaoyao felt a bit regretful. She was eager to discuss more with Mo Ziwan, who had gathered extensive knowledge over his century-long experience with furnace explosions. Three days and nights were not enough to cover everything!
Mo Ziwan also felt the time was too short, so he said to Lu Yaoyao, “Let’s continue our conversation next time we’re in confinement.”
Lu Yaoyao readily agreed, “Okay!”
“???” Mo Ziwen, who overheard them, thought: Have these kids been driven silly by the confinement?
…
Freed from her confinement, Lu Yaoyao and her two senior brothers went to see their master. After bowing their heads in greetings and respectfully listening to his admonishment, they were allowed to leave.
Mo Ziwan felt a sting of jealousy, “Master is still biased. Every time I’m confined, it’s for seven to ten days, but you were released after just three days.”
Lu Yaoyao gave him a look, “How about we go back in until we complete seven days?”
“Forget it,” Mo Ziwan touched his nose. He wouldn’t undertake such a foolish plan of defeating enemies by a thousand and damaging himself by eight hundred! That was losing more than he could gain — who on earth would want to be locked up in a dark room when he could enjoy the freedom outside?
Mo Ziwen chuckled lightly at their lively conversation. Suddenly remembering something, he turned to Lu Yaoyao, “By the way, Yaoyao, Junior Brother Zixing came looking for you the day before yesterday.”
Lu Yaoyao responded, “Did he leave any message?”
“Not really, just asked me to tell you to look for him after you got out.”
She nodded, “I’m going to find Xingxing now. See you later, senior brothers!”
Lu Yaoyao waved her hand, bid farewell to her senior brothers, and quickly ran off. On her way to the West Seventh Peak, she encountered many sect disciples who greeted her as they saw her.
“Junior Sister Yaoyao, how do you do?”
“Greetings, Martial Aunt Yaoyao.”
“Senior Sister Yaoyao, good afternoon.”
Maintaining a composed demeanor, Lu Yaoyao politely returned every greeting on the way. Three years ago, when her identity as His Venerable’s daughter was revealed, she attracted extraordinary attention from the entire Cultivation Realm for a whole month. Only after Father took her with him to the extreme peak on the summit of the snowy mountain that the fervor finally subsided.
Sects invited to attend the grand memorial ceremony could only stay in the Guiyuan Sect for two weeks at most, as they needed to return to their own sects. Moreover, His Venerable taking his daughter for secluded cultivation on the extreme peak silently expressed his stance: he was not pleased with their overly enthusiastic behavior. Therefore, no matter how reluctant, the sects had no choice but to leave one after another.
As for Guiyuan Sect itself, Sect Leader Lu and Lu Junyang quickly moved to curb the disciples’ excessive curiosity, preventing them from making a disturbance.
Initially, Lu Yaoyao was unaware of this; she had spent three months at the snow mountain’s summit when Brother Junyang came to consult with Father and mentioned it during a casual chat.
Knowing the situation had calmed down, Lu Yaoyao immediately wanted to descend the mountain. She was now very interested in learning alchemy and didn’t want to abandon it halfway — she wanted to continue learning from Master. If Brother Junyang hadn’t brought it up, Father would have probably preferred her to continue her secluded cultivation.
That very day, Lu Yaoyao descended the mountain with Lu Junyang. On the way from the Extreme Peak to the South Fifth Peak, they encountered sect disciples every few steps. But it was already much better than before; at least, people were no longer crowded around just to take a look at her. Aside from eager gazes and a few bold people stepping forward to greet them, no one else disturbed her.
For the entire next year, there wasn’t much change in Lu Yaoyao’s life, except for encountering people more often when she went out, having more conversations initiated with her, and receiving more attention from teachers.
After a year, the fervor finally died down, and the disciples no longer went out of their way to encounter Lu Yaoyao on the road. By now, everyone had grown accustomed to her identity, and Lu Yaoyao’s life became a bit more peaceful.
All the greetings on the way delayed her a bit, so it took Lu Yaoyao half an hour to reach the West Seventh Peak. Upon arriving at the entrance, she saw a tall and handsome young man standing ahead.
Wen Zixing approached Lu Yaoyao and the first thing he said was, “Yaoyao, is it true that you were put into confinement?”
“…If you stop mentioning this, we are still good friends.” Lu Yaoyao said in a monotone voice.
Wen Zixing thought for a moment, “Then, let’s break off our friendship for half an hour first, and you tell me about it?”
Lu Yaoyao said with a cold face: “Why would I talk to you if we’ve already broken off our friendship?”
“…Right.” Wen Zixing changed his mind, “Then let’s make peace.”
“You decide to break off and makeup just like that?” Lu Yaoyao put her hands on her hips and lifted her chin, “Did you ask for my opinion?” Why should she obey whatever he said? Hmph!
“So, are we making up?”
Lu Yaoyao turned her head, ready to break off the friendship.
Wen Zixing thought for a moment and then said, “I’ll tell you a story.”
Lu Yaoyao pretended not to care but secretly pricked up her ears.
“Okay, Bad, and Whatever are three friends. One day, they were drinking at an inn, and both Bad and Whatever got drunk. When they woke up, they were in their own beds. Who do you think took them back?”
“Of course, it’s Okay.” Lu Yaoyao looked disdainful. Such a simple question was an insult to her intelligence. If two out of three got drunk, obviously, the one who remained sober would take the rest home.
Wen Zixing clapped suddenly, “You agreed, so we’re made up now.”
“…” Realizing she had been tricked, Lu Yaoyao puffed her cheeks angrily, “Are you tricking me?”
Wen Zixing chuckled and put a hand on Lu Yaoyao’s… head, “Don’t mind this detail.” As he was about to continue, he suddenly noticed something and exclaimed in surprise: “Yaoyao, have you grown shorter?”
Lu Yaoyao’s eyes immediately flared with fire, and she lifted her short leg to fiercely kick his shin.
Unbothered by the kick, Wen Zixing used facts to prove his point, “It’s true. I remember you used to reach here on me, but now you’re here.” He compared her height against his thigh, showing a noticeable difference between the two times.
Lu Yaoyao was furious, “Stupid Xingxing! I didn’t get shorter, it’s you who’s grown taller!”
“Ah, so I’ve grown taller!” Wen Zixing’s face lit up with joy, “Because I’m almost twenty, I thought I had stopped growing!”
Lu Yaoyao gave him a stink eye, still visibly annoyed.
