DDDV Ch 178 Part 2 – Sword Tomb (II)

In the sword tomb, the natal swords of the sect’s fallen sword cultivators and the famous swords found by disciples on their journeys were laid to rest. Even before entering, Lu Yaoyao could feel the chilling sword intent and overwhelming pressure. She had a feeling something inside was calling to her. Maybe she could find her own natal sword here?

So Lu Yaoyao did not resist the call. Following this instinct, Lu Yaoyao stepped into the entrance of the sword tomb. Then the scenery changed abruptly—the sky darkened, the light grew dim, and tombstones stood chaotically amid what seemed to be a backdrop of thunder and lightning. Inside and outside the sword tomb felt like two different worlds. As soon as Lu Yaoyao entered, the faint calling vanished. This sword must be a playful one—she thought to herself.

A path lay before her, extending into the distance. Lu Yaoyao started down the path, slowly walking forward. As she took her steps, she glanced around and soon noticed swords embedded in the tombstones.

Perhaps due to the lighting, the swords, still enclosed in their scabbards, appeared dull and lifeless. However, as soon as Lu Yaoyao entered, the swords seemed to come alive, vibrating silently. Lu Yaoyao blinked, her gaze sweeping over the swords—she could almost hear the clash of unsheathed blades.

Spiritual swords chose their masters. Even if they hadn’t developed a sword spirit, they would still respond to their chosen master. It appeared to Lu Yaoyao that these swords were quite enthusiastic. Perhaps one of them was the one calling her over?

Lu Yaoyao walked to a tombstone. The stone was tall, and with a single leap, she jumped onto it. The sword embedded in the stone was long, taller than Lu Yaoyao herself. The sword didn’t reject her approach; she reached out and touched the patterns on the scabbard. The next moment, the surrounding tombstones came crashing down. However, they didn’t hit Lu Yaoyao but rather piled onto the sword she had just touched, instantly burying it.

Lu Yaoyao: “?”

Lu Yaoyao painstakingly returned each sword to its place, murmuring, “You are all very good swords, and you will surely find the masters who love and suit you best. But it wasn’t you who called for me, right? I need to find the sword that called me…”

Lu Yaoyao felt like these swords were like children and needed to be coaxed—if they all developed sword spirits, they would certainly be adorable. Once the swords were returned to their original positions, she wasted no time and pressed further into the area. The deeper she went, the more solid and overwhelming the sword intent became. However, Lu Yaoyao found it harmless and even comforting. The tombstones gradually became sparser as she walked further, as well as the number of swords she encountered.

Lu Yaoyao could tell that these swords were of higher quality, with more dominant sword intents and a sense of territoriality. Each sword was unique, and she could tell them apart. While they all responded to her, she knew none of them was the one calling for her.

Where is it?

Lu Yaoyao walked for a long time. The sword tomb was vast, and she still hadn’t traversed it entirely. It seemed like she was the only one in this place.

After a while, she randomly stopped to rest. There were no swords in sight. Had she reached the edge? Or maybe the center? Was her intuition wrong?

As Lu Yaoyao leaned back to support herself, suddenly the world spun, and she was sucked into a completely unfamiliar place. Had she been thrown out of the sword tomb? Lu Yaoyao wondered briefly, but she quickly confirmed that she was still in the sword tomb.

She seemed to have been transported into a void space, with three swords placed before her—to be precise, there were four swords, as one pair consisted of twin short swords. The most striking sword was incredibly impressive; her first thought upon seeing it was that it was majestic and perfectly refined, clearly an immortal-level sword.

However, Lu Yaoyao was drawn to the least noticeable sword among them, a soft sword1. She followed her instinct and reached out to touch it. The moment her fingertips brushed the blade, her vision blurred, and it felt like her consciousness was pulled into another world.

Before her, a woman whose face she couldn’t see was wielding the sword.

The woman had her back to Lu Yaoyao, moving with grace. The elegance of her posture and the fluidity of her sword movements resembled a captivating dance. Just as the woman was about to turn around, Lu Yaoyao’s vision was overtaken by a colorful vortex. When the vortex disappeared, the soft sword reappeared before her.

Lu Yaoyao silently pondered, could this be the memory of the previous owner of the sword? But the silhouette seemed familiar, like she had seen it somewhere before…

Lu Yaoyao didn’t have time to think further—she had already picked up the sword.

The soft sword’s blade was highly flexible, moving like a ribbon even with a gentle shake, yet it emitted a deadly aura when brandished. “Good sword!” Lu Yaoyao had a strong intuition that this was the sword calling to her.

Unable to resist, Lu Yaoyao practiced with it for a while. Perhaps because she had been trained to use both sword and whip, she was adept at the sharpness of the sword and the flexibility of the whip. She quickly adapted to the unique nature of the soft sword, and, despite her small size and short limbs, managed to harness 80% of its power.

A moment later, she stopped. “From now on, we are partners,” she said, gently touching the sword. The blade trembled slightly as if responding silently.

Just as Lu Yaoyao held the sword in her hands, the scene changed again, and she was transported outside the sword tomb. She remained silent for a moment, then solemnly bowed toward the tomb before leaving with her new sword.

The Suhui Minor Secret Realm was essentially a place for treasure hunts. Shortly after leaving the sword tomb, Lu Yaoyao stepped into an array. Luckily, her Father had taught her arrays since she was a child, and she had also studied the notes left behind by her Grandmaster, so ordinary arrays couldn’t trap her. She quickly broke the array and found herself in a magnificent hall.

The hall was vast, like a puzzle, with corridors leading to countless rooms, each containing various treasures. The rooms were neatly arranged with shelves full of rare items, including calligraphy and paintings, magical artifacts, and a lot of items that Lu Yaoyao couldn’t identify. She walked around and casually picked three.

The last item she intended to take was a piece of ornament made from a rare spiritual jade, but her hand somehow shifted and picked up a small mirror around the size of her head instead. The mirror had a bronze-colored surface with strange carvings adorning its frame, but when she looked into it, she couldn’t see her reflection.

What’s the use of a mirror that doesn’t show reflections? Is it just a decoration?

Nevertheless, since she had already taken it, she put it in her pouch.

It was three days after entering the secret realm that Lu Yaoyao finally encountered another person, and it was a familiar face. “Brother Junyang!” She waved and ran toward him.

Lu Junyang, surprised to see Lu Yaoyao, walked over to her. “Yaoyao.” He carefully looked her over; her chubby face was rosy, and she didn’t look disheveled at all, indicating she had fared well these past three days.

“I didn’t expect to see you so soon,” Lu Yaoyao said happily. Having been warned by senior brothers and sisters who had entered the secret realm before, she was prepared not to meet anyone until she exited.

Lu Junyang smiled, equally pleased to see her. Furthermore, he was curious about her experiences, so he asked, “Yaoyao, did you encounter any difficulties these past few days?”

Lu Yaoyao shook her head. “As soon as I entered the secret realm, I was near the sword tomb, so I went in…” She recounted her experiences to Lu Junyang in detail.
