DDDV Ch 180 Part 2 – Yunxiu Sword (II)

“What task?” Yan Zihui, who appeared out of nowhere, asked curiously.

“Whoa!” The sudden voice startled Wen Zixing.

Yan Zihui, squatting between Wen Zixing and Du Qianshan, had arrived just in time to hear the last part of their conversation.

“Senior Brother Zihui!”

“Senior Brother Zihui, when did you get here?” Lu Yaoyao greeted him cheerfully, “We’re talking about going on a field training.”

“I just arrived. Did I surprise you?”

Wen Zixing admitted, “Yeah, a lot.”

Yan Zihui burst into laughter and then asked again, “What kind of field training?”

Chao Muxue explained, “We want to take a mission outside the sect, but we lack the strength.”

Yan Zihui raised an eyebrow, “That’s easy. Just let me join!”

“Senior Brother, you’re willing to go with us?!” Lu Yaoyao and her friends were thrilled. “You don’t mind taking a burden?”

Yan Zihui said cheerfully, “How could such adorable junior brothers and sisters be considered a burden?”

“That’s great!” Wen Zixing cheered. They were already so close with Senior Brother Zihui—traveling with him would be fantastic!

“It’s settled then!”

“It’s a deal!” Yan Zihui clapped hands with them. Traveling with such interesting junior brothers and sisters must be fun!

So, Lu Yaoyao’s team gained an additional member. With this, their problem was solved, and they didn’t need to look for other people. Lu Yaoyao’s combat prowess was already sufficient, so the team composition of two experienced members leading three novices should be enough to guarantee safety!

Lu Yaoyao spent the rest of the day hanging out with her friends. In the evening, instead of returning to South Fifth Peak, she went directly to see her Father. Finding her Father was actually very easy: he was either meditating at the Extreme Peak or meditating at the East Ninth Peak. The only difference was that one location permitted visitors while the other one did not. But of course Lu Yaoyao was an exception. She first went to the East Ninth Peak, and not seeing her father there, she knew he must be at the Extreme Peak.

Lu Yaoyao then headed to the Extreme Peak. The barrier there did not restrict her. Once inside, she found her Father in his wooden hut. “Father!” she called out, but the first person she saw was Lu Qingyu lounging casually. “Daddy!” Lu Yaoyao was pleasantly surprised to find her Daddy there too. He had stayed for quite a long time this time!

Seeing Lu Qingyu naturally made Lu Yaoyao very happy. She walked over briskly and sat down between Yao Jiuxiao and Lu Qingyu.

But Lu Qingyu was unhappy that she called Yao Jiuxiao first, “Is there only your Father in your eyes?”

“How could that be?” Lu Yaoyao replied confidently. “Even though I called Father first, the first one I saw was Daddy!”

“My Daddy is so dazzling that even a blind person couldn’t fail to see him!” Lu Yaoyao handled the situation skilfully, showering flattery after flattery.

Lu Qingyu seemed to be in a bad mood, nitpicking over trivial matters. It took quite a while for Lu Yaoyao to coax him into a better mood.

Meanwhile, Yao Jiuxiao poured Lu Yaoyao a cup of hot tea. She took it, blew on it a couple of times, and drank it in one gulp, then started chatting about her recent experiences. Since both her Father and Daddy were present, it saved her from having to repeat herself. How convenient!

For a while, only Lu Yaoyao’s lively, childish voice could be heard in the entire wooden hut. Yao Jiuxiao and Lu Qingyu listened attentively. Once she finished, Lu Yaoyao didn’t forget to take out all the treasures she had acquired in the secret realm, piling them up beside her. “I also found spiritual resin… but those are with Brother Junyang, and we’ll divide them later.”

Because their time in the secret realm was limited, they didn’t waste precious time dividing items, since it could be done later. Everything Lu Yaoyao and Lu Junyang found together was left with him, to be divided once they returned. Naturally, Lu Yaoyao didn’t forget to prepare gifts for her Father and Daddy. She had already given gifts to her friends, master, and senior brothers, so her parents naturally wouldn’t be left out. Still, finding identical items in the secret realm was not easy; giving different gifts might be okay when she met them separately, but now with both Father and Daddy present, Daddy was likely to make a fuss.

Sure enough, when Lu Qingyu saw the gifts Lu Yaoyao had specially chosen, he said directly, “I want all.”

Lu Yaoyao quickly leaned over and pressed down on one of the piles of items, looking up at Lu Qingyu. “No, you can only choose one!” Her tone was firm. “Either one for each of you or I’ll give everything to Father.”

“…” After a moment of careful consideration, Lu Qingyu reluctantly pointed to one pile at random. At least he got to choose first!

Lu Yaoyao then handed the other pile to her Father. Yao Jiuxiao, not one to fuss over such trivial matters, accepted them without any objections.

To prevent her Daddy from making further fuss, Lu Yaoyao quickly changed the subject. “Father, Daddy, do you know what kind of sword this is?” She untied the soft sword from her waist.

The moment Yao Jiuxiao saw the sword in Lu Yaoyao’s hand, his pupils contracted.

Lu Qingyu crushed the cup in his hand.

Why are Father and Daddy reacting so strongly? Lu Yaoyao tilted her head, full of confusion.

Seeing they both seemed to recognize the sword, she asked again, “What sword is this?”

“This is the Yunxiu Sword,” after a long pause, Yao Jiuxiao finally replied.

Lu Yaoyao’s eyes widened slightly: “What about its origin?” Yunxiu… Cloud Whisper… this name sounded very elegant and ethereal. Judging from Father and Daddy’s unusual reactions, this sword must have a very exciting past.

“It was once the natal sword of a Guiyuan cultivator.”

Lu Yaoyao waited for more, but Yao Jiuxiao didn’t continue. Eager for more story, she urged, “And then?”

Yao Jiuxiao said, “It was made using the softest mineral on the continent, supplemented with ten-thousand-year-old black iron, rare cloud sand… and finally was forged using three drops of a cultivator’s heart blood.”

Lu Yaoyao blinked, it did sound impressive, but did she want to know what materials made this sword and how it was forged? Well, yes, but she was more interested in the story behind the sword!

“Who was the previous owner of this sword? Were they an elder? Do both father and daddy know them? And why is this sword left in the sword chamber?” Lu Yaoyao was determined not to let her Father evade the topic, so she asked him directly, eagerly waiting for his answer.

Yao Jiuxiao fell silent, seemingly considering how to respond.

“Why hesitate?” Lu Qingyu sneered, “Are you also ashamed of her, thinking she’s such a disgrace to your sect that her name doesn’t deserve to be mentioned again?”

Yao Jiuxiao slowly frowned, “That’s not what I meant.”

Lu Qingyu’s lips curled into a mocking smile, “Then what do you mean?”

Lu Yaoyao looked at her Father and Daddy, wondering why the atmosphere suddenly became so tense. She sensed a thick tension in the air and quickly interjected, “Father, Daddy, please don’t argue. Let’s talk calmly!” After a moment, she added, “Actually, I’m not that eager to know…”

Yao Jiuxiao glanced at Lu Qingyu, “There’s nothing that can’t be said. The Yunxiu Sword belonged to your late martial aunt, who is my senior sister.”
