Yao Jiuxiao glanced at Lu Qingyu, “There’s nothing that can’t be said. The Yunxiu Sword belonged to your late martial aunt, who is my senior sister.”
Similar to Yao Jiuxiao’s master, his senior sister’s name had long been forgotten in the sect, and those who still recalled her regarded her as a taboo topic.
From Yao Jiuxiao’s brief explanation, Lu Yaoyao managed to piece together most of the story. Father’s senior sister had a high status within Guiyuan; she was the eldest daughter of the previous sect leader and the older sister of the current one. She was also raised by Father’s master, who was her biological uncle. As it was known, Grandmaster’s views and beliefs were greatly unorthodox, and Martial Aunt was also influenced by him, causing a lot of conflicts with the previous sect leader. Eventually, Martial Aunt fell deeply in love with someone, to the point of disregarding everything for love.
Unfortunately, it was all a cruel trap. The person Martial Aunt loved was a devil, who took on Martial Aunt’s preferences in order to make her fall in love with him, with the aim of infiltrating and destroying the Guiyuan Sect from within. The devil’s plot nearly succeeded. Guiyuan Sect suffered almost complete destruction a millennium ago, losing most of its best members in the devastating battle that ensued, including Martial Aunt.
Guiyuan Sect was severely weakened, and it was Lu Yaoyao’s Father and Martial Uncle who exhausted their strength to protect and rebuild the sect, eventually restoring it to its position as the leading sect in the Cultivation Realm.
Lu Yaoyao sighed deeply. Those devils were truly despicable! Deceitful and treacherous, they even manipulated Martial Aunt’s feelings!
She didn’t ask in detail how Martial Aunt died. Anyone who realized that they had unknowingly brought a wolf into their house and caused the death of their friends and family would certainly be devastated… Perhaps Martial Aunt couldn’t continue living with such guilt and decided that only death could bring her relief.
Thinking about this, Lu Yaoyao couldn’t help but curse the devils repeatedly in her heart—they were truly despicable!
When she looked up, she saw her Daddy sitting there and suddenly remembered that he was a devil, and she was a half-devil…
Well… just like there are good and bad humans, there are also good and bad devils. She was only cursing the evil, malicious devils!
Yes, that’s it!
Lu Yaoyao looked at her Father, then at her Daddy, never before having so deeply realized the irreconcilable blood feud between the devils and humans. So much blood had spilled, and those were the lives of their friends and relatives… Was she too naïve to wish for peace among the three races?
She would likely make things difficult for both her Father and Daddy in the future…
Furrowing her little brow, Lu Yaoyao fell into contemplation. She also deeply realized how much her parents had sacrificed for her. Back at Cangshan, they had tolerated each other to give her a complete family…
Noticing her Daddy seemed in a bad mood, her thoughts shifted, “Daddy, did you also know Martial Aunt?”
Lu Qingyu immediately replied, “No.”
The answer was too quick, which didn’t seem very convincing to Lu Yaoyao. Daddy must be lying!
“Father?” Lu Yaoyao turned to Yao Jiuxiao.
Yao Jiuxiao replied calmly, “Your martial aunt was once your Daddy’s…”
“Yao. Jiu. Xiao!” Before Yao Jiuxiao could finish, Lu Qingyu narrowed his eyes, his voice filled with killing intent.
Yao Jiuxiao glanced at him indifferently, unfazed.
Lu Qingyu’s hand had already crushed the table corner into powder. His killing intent intensified, ready to blow at any moment.
Seeing the dangerous situation, Lu Yaoyao hastily made her escape, “Father, Daddy, I have something to do, so I’ll be going!” She wanted to hear more, but for the sake of her life, she decided to retreat for now.
After running out of the wooden hut, she thought of something and quickly turned back. Poking her head around the door frame, the little dumpling looked inside, hugging her sword tightly, and solemnly promised, “I will take good care of it!” Then she swiftly ran off.
After Lu Yaoyao left, Lu Qingyu and Yao Jiuxiao didn’t fight. The two intense, equally strong auras in the wooden hut clashed for a moment before abruptly dissipating.
Lu Qingyu poured himself a cup of tea and drank it in one gulp. “I didn’t expect the Yunxiu Sword to choose the kid.”
Lu Yaoyao didn’t know it yet, but the materials for the Yunxiu Sword were mostly gathered by Yao Jiuxiao and Lu Qingyu. They also had the most skilled swordsmith of that time to forge the sword, which took over ten years. The result was Yunxiu Sword, a special weapon that combined both intense hardness and flexibility. The materials used were top-notch, and the moment it was completed, the sword caused a natural phenomenon, indicating it was a divine-level weapon.
Despite its formidable aura, however, the Yunxiu Sword never developed a sword spirit. Perhaps it was missing a bit of fate. They had all regretted this but thought there was plenty of time, and it would eventually happen. However, no one expected she would never see the day when the sword spirit manifested.
After more than a thousand years, the Yunxiu Sword chose a new master and reappeared…
Yao Jiuxiao was also surprised. He had complex feelings about the Yunxiu Sword, having personally placed it in the sword chamber. He hadn’t expected his daughter to be acknowledged by the Yunxiu Sword. At first, upon seeing ‘her,’ he had thought the Yunxiu Sword was waiting for its former master. “Since the Yunxiu Sword has made its choice, let nature take its course,” he finally said.
Lu Qingyu turned the cup in his hand, deep in thought. “So, it’s truly not her, then?”
Yao Jiuxiao’s expression remained unchanged. “It never was.”
Lu Qingyu lowered his gaze and suddenly sneered, “Forget it.”
Lu Yaoyao, unaware of the conversation between her parents, was just glad she had run away quickly, or she might have become the source of their argument. Back at the South Fifth Peak, she sat on her bed and placed the Yunxiu Sword in front of her.
If she could show her favorability level, she would give the Yunxiu Sword five out of five stars. Still, she hadn’t expected this sword to have such a dramatic history and even an indirect connection to her.
Her Father and Daddy were definitely keeping many things from her, but Lu Yaoyao was smart enough to piece things together from the information she had. She was certain that her Daddy had lived in the Guiyuan Sect before—his surname, Lu, had the same origin as those in Guiyuan Sect.
And the reason Daddy ended up living in the sect was likely due to Martial Aunt.
So, what had caused Daddy, a pureblood high-ranking devil, to end up stranded in the Cultivation Realm and eventually in the Guiyuan Sect?
Lu Yaoyao calculated the time and Lu Qingyu’s age, quickly figuring that over a thousand years ago, her Daddy would have been a small cub! He must have had a difficult and dangerous time in the Devil Realm, perhaps narrowly escaping death several times, before finally ending up living in the Guiyuan Sect.
Lu Yaoyao was aware of her Daddy’s deep dislike of humans, and yet he kept using a human name, which should mean something. Otherwise, why would he keep using it? The name must have special significance to him, likely because he used it the most during his childhood, long enough to consider it his identity.
Extrapolating further, Father and Daddy were of similar ages—when Daddy was just a cub, Father must have been very young, too. If Daddy was brought back and raised by Martial Aunt, Father and Daddy must have known each other from childhood, and might have even grown up together!
This explained why, despite all the blood feuds and conflicts between them, Father and Daddy could still occasionally be peaceful together. Their relationship wasn’t just one of mortal enemies; they could have once been close friends.
Both her Father and Daddy were incredibly strong-willed individuals. No matter what they had gone through, nothing could defeat them. Their bodies and minds had been tempered through countless trials, ultimately achieving greatness.
Lu Yaoyao admired them greatly. Her Father and Daddy had broad minds and were not swayed by extreme emotions. If she was in their position, she wasn’t sure if she could be like them…
Perhaps their relationship was too complex, and what happened between them was not something that could be resolved by simply becoming enemies.
Lu Yaoyao’s thoughts were all over the place, but she felt reassured knowing that with her existence, her Father and Daddy would never truly become enemies.
Taken aback by the past she had just learned about, Lu Yaoyao was still a bit dazed. The Yunxiu Sword was very clean, but she still carefully wiped it with a cloth, absent-mindedly wondering how to properly maintain it.
Oh, right, she could ask a sword cultivator! Sword cultivators were notorious for cherishing their swords more than their spouses, so they must be the expert among experts when it comes to sword maintenance. Perhaps one of these days she could pay the North Twelfth Peak a visit to ask for advice.
