DDDV Ch 189 Part 1 – Wen Zixing was Bewitched (I)

“Junior Brother Lin, Junior Brother Ye.” Bu Ye greeted them. The two junior brothers who had taken up temporary residence here were personal disciples under an elder.

Lin Zao and Ye Ming’s eyes darted curiously around Lu Yaoyao and her companions. Even though they had been taking turns guarding this place and hadn’t had time to return to the sect, they were well aware special guests were about to arrive. Real Guiyuan disciples! To them, members of the Guiyuan Sect were like untouchable prodigies; the real favored children of heaven.

In particular, it was common knowledge in the Cultivation Realm that His Venerable’s beloved only daughter was named Lu Yaoyao, a prodigy among prodigies who reportedly broke through the Foundation Establishment stage at the age of four and currently being at the Golden Core stage.

So, when they saw a little girl in Guiyuan uniform who appeared to be no more than four years old, whose name was Lu Yaoyao, they immediately connected the dots. This must be the rumored little princess of their Cultivation Realm!

Despite Lin Zao and Ye Ming’s minds racing with thoughts, they didn’t neglect their duties. They meticulously reported the situation here: “The second senior brother is currently leading the group patrolling near the core. We’ve been taking turns patrolling around the clock, not allowing any gaps between. So far, the core hasn’t shown any signs of disturbance.”

The patrolling disciples used a rotating system, changing every ten days with ten people in each team, alternating day and night shifts around the various parts of Yanhuo Mountain. Besides those out on patrol, there were always people staying at the stone house, partly to ensure someone was always available if the sect suddenly dispatched a messenger, and partly to allow them to rest.

Currently, Lin Zao and Ye Ming were left behind. This place was said to be on the outskirts of the core, but it was quite a distance away. From here, they could see the towering volcano standing tall amidst a cluster of peaks, rising dramatically into the clouds, solitary and imposing. The summit of this volcano, more commonly known as the Flame Mountain, was what they referred to as the core.

Although the core had shown no signs of abnormalities, the disciples dared not relax for a moment. After all, should danger arise, it would first threaten their Tianyan Sect, and then Yanhuo Town. Both were their home, and they naturally didn’t want to see it devastated.

Guiyuan Sect had only sent five disciples, the highest cultivation among them was only at the Golden Core stage, but they didn’t feel that Guiyuan Sect was being dismissive. Look at who came: Yan Zihui, whose master was the personal disciple of Guiyuan Sect’s First Elder; Lu Yaoyao, the daughter of Dao Venerable Hengwu and a personal disciple of a peak master; Chao Muxue, a personal disciple of Guiyuan Sect Leader; and Wen Zixing and Du Qianshan, both personal disciples of a peak master. Each one held a formidable identity, even within Guiyuan. Certainly, the Guiyuan Sect took their request seriously and didn’t look down on them for being a small sect!

As Lin Zao and Ye Ming delivered their report, Lu Yaoyao’s group gazed up at the towering volcano from their position in front of the stone house. Just as the report stated, the core hadn’t shown any abnormalities so far, and they couldn’t find anything unusual from their observation. “Shall we go up and have a look?” Lu Yaoyao suggested.

“Alright.” The others agreed. Only by seeing it with their own eyes could they truly know the situation. Fortunately, it wasn’t too late in the day, and they had enough time to make a round trip to Flame Mountain.

Lin Zao and Ye Ming exchanged glances and eagerly requested to go along, “Eldest Senior Brother, the path ahead is fraught with danger, and my junior brother and I wish to contribute our efforts.” Neither of them wanted to miss this opportunity to be around Lu Yaoyao and her group, even if it meant facing potential danger.

Bu Yang didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he looked at Yan Zihui, who pondered for a moment before quickly agreeing, “Then we shall go together.”

“Thank you, senior brothers and sisters, we promise not to hold you back!” Lin Zao and Ye Ming beamed with joy. Since they couldn’t let the stone house empty, they sent out a signal for the nearby patrolling group to return and took their post.

The group quickly headed toward Flame Mountain. Among them, there weren’t many disciples above the Foundation Establishment stage, but since the distance wasn’t too great, they could proceed on foot.

Lin Zao occasionally stole a glance at Lu Yaoyao, who piqued his curiosity the most. He thought to himself: The little princess is really pretty; she’ll surely grow into a great beauty! The title of the most beautiful woman in the Cultivation Realm, currently held by Fairy Yunsi, might have to be passed on to the little princess soon.

It was said that the little princess closely resembled her father. He hadn’t been granted the luck to see His Venerable in person, but just by looking at the little princess, he could imagine how handsome His Venerable must be. Moreover—

Lu Yaoyao had long noticed the gazes from the two Tianyan disciples. She was prepared for the attention—surely it wouldn’t be as overwhelming as the crowds she faced when her lineage was first revealed in front of a crowd of thousands during the memorial ceremony. Anyway, they weren’t being too bold, so she chose not to comment.

Wen Zixing, on the other hand, noticed the increasingly expressive look on Lin Zao’s face, whose eyes were vacant, as if lost in thought. Curious about what was on his mind, Wen Zixing asked, “Junior Brother Lin Zao, what are you thinking about?”

Lin Zao blurted out, “I was thinking that the little princess is truly a combination of talent and beauty!”

As soon as he realized what he had said, he returned to his senses. With a flush of embarrassment, he scratched his head awkwardly. “I-I mean, the little princess is amazing. She will surely surpass His Venerable!”

“Are you referring to me as the little princess? Why do you call me that?” Lu Yaoyao had been curious for a while. She occasionally overheard people privately calling her that but never had anyone addressed her directly with that title, so she had no choice but to keep her curiosity to herself until now.

Now that someone was slipping up and calling her that openly, she wasted no time and asked straightforwardly. At first, she thought her identity as the devil race’s little princess had been exposed, but that was impossible—if it were exposed, the reaction wouldn’t be so calm. This title must be due to her identity as Father’s daughter, but she just didn’t understand why they called her ‘princess.’ Unlike the Devil Realm, the Cultivation Realm had no supreme ruler, hence there was no existence of a ‘princess’ here.

Seeing that Lu Yaoyao was not offended and was instead filled with curiosity, Lin Zao excitedly explained, “Since the Devil Realm has a little princess, naturally, our Cultivation Realm must also have a little princess!”

The Devil Realm and Cultivation Realm were in opposition, not only in terms of mutual hatred but also in every possible comparison. One of the fiercest comparisons that the devils and humans had argued about for centuries was over whether the Devil Venerable or the Dao Venerable was the number one in the Yuanqi Continent. As such, when it was revealed that the Devil Venerable had a daughter while their Dao Venerable had none, the humans were particularly upset, feeling they had lost to the devils in this aspect.

So, when His Venerable suddenly announced the existence of his daughter, she naturally became their Cultivation Realm’s little princess! Especially when rumors came around that this daughter was even more talented than her father, having reached the Foundation Establishment stage at four and the Golden Core stage before eighteen. The entire Cultivation Realm was so proud, feeling they had won!

Their little princess is a genius; what does the devil race’s little princess have? Aside from having a venerable father, there’s no word of her being particularly remarkable.

Princess to princess, their little princess is the clear winner!
