DDDV Ch 190 Part 2 – Into the Core (II)

“This is the Ruyi Brocade?!” It looks so normal!

“Really!” Lu Yaoyao nodded, “Watch this!” With a command from her mind, the blue-lined white uniform transformed into the red attire she had worn before. Because the Ruyi Brocade had recognized Lu Yaoyao as its master, she could change its form at will.

This unquestionably confirmed that it was the authentic Ruyi Brocade, and Wen Zixing and the rest were convinced beyond a doubt. They couldn’t help but marvel again. Being the daughter of His Venerable, Yaoyao was certainly one of the richest women in the Cultivation Realm. They had long known that her clothing was extraordinary since it appeared to have some defensive function, but they simply assumed that she was wearing some defensive artifacts underneath her uniform.

However, they never could have guessed that the ‘uniform’ she had on was actually the legendary Ruyi Brocade. This was incredible! What didn’t Lu Yaoyao have?

“I have the highest cultivation level here. Yaoyao, please lend me the Ruyi Brocade. I’ll go down to have a look.” After everyone finished marveling, Yan Zihui returned to the main topic.

Lu Yaoyao didn’t agree, “My cultivation level is not lower than yours, and I have more life-saving means too. I’m the most suitable one to go down the crater.” This was certainly true since she had numerous defensive and offensive artifacts given by her Father and Daddy. Regardless of what awaited her beneath the magma, she was confident in her ability to retreat safely.

Of course, Yan Zihui was unwilling to let his junior sister take risks under his watch. It was already clear by this point that the core was extremely dangerous; what if something happened to Yaoyao? Just as he was about to persuade further, Lu Yaoyao stood up, “Senior Brother, trust me.”

“It’s not a matter of trust…”

“If we keep entangling on this issue, the day will pass, and we can’t go back empty-handed, right? Let’s just do it!” Lu Yaoyao didn’t allow them to refute further, “Senior Brother, please look after Xingxing and the others.” With that, she quickly ran towards the magma crater and leaped in.

“Ah!” Chao Muxue instinctively exclaimed.

They hurried to the edge of the crater, bent over, and saw Lu Yaoyao floating on the surface, smiling and waving at them.

It was only at that moment that they were able to sigh in relief.

Really gave them a scare!

Yan Zihui shouted, “Be careful, remember to prioritize safety, and come back immediately if you encounter danger!”

“Got it!” Lu Yaoyao responded, then sank down and disappeared in an instant.

Even though Lu Yaoyao was out of sight, they kept a close watch on the magma. “Yaoyao’s too rash,” Yan Zihui sighed. He initially wanted to go down first to check on the situation, but she jumped without hesitation. If not for the lack of Ruyi Brocade, he would have jumped after her!

“I want to go down too.” Du Qianshan was very tempted—it smelled of adventure!

Wen Zixing, on the other hand, didn’t have the courage to jump down into the terrifying magma.

“We should check around here again; perhaps we could come up with a plan to go down there.” Feeling uncomfortable just waiting idly for Lu Yaoyao to return without doing anything, the group decided their next course of action.

Considering that the magma had once bewitched Wen Zixing, it wasn’t good to leave just one person here to wait for Lu Yaoyao, so Chao Muxue and Du Qianshan stayed, while Wen Zixing and Yan Zihui wandered nearby.

Wen Zixing was anxious when he thought of Yaoyao facing an unknown danger alone. Was there any way he could be of help? Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he turned to Yan Zihui, “Didn’t they say that this area was previously a habitat for many spiritual beasts? Senior Brother, can we capture spiritual beasts with strong fire resistance and craft protective artifacts from their skins and bones? Maybe we could bypass the magma!”

Yan Zihui found this idea very plausible and praised, “You’re really smart. Let’s go find the disciples of Tianyan Sect for help.” Only the Tianyan Sect, who had lived here for generations, truly understood this place.

While her friends were seeking help from the Tianyan Sect disciples, Lu Yaoyao wasn’t idle either. After diving into the magma, she continued swimming downward. The Ruyi Brocade protected her, automatically isolating the magma that could instantly melt people into nothingness.

Lu Yaoyao’s eyes were wide open. The thick, fiery red magma wasn’t as tumultuous here compared to the surface; it was more like an undercurrent. She could feel the magma moving in a certain direction, so she simply floated along the current.

Suddenly, she saw a streak of silver white in the magma, different from the color of the flames. Curious, she swam nearer and carefully examined for a moment, eventually realizing it was a small section of leg bone, similar in size to her height. Judging by proportion, the bone must belong to a very large creature, perhaps a spiritual beast of a sort. The disciples of the Tianyan Sect had mentioned that nearly all beasts living in the area fled during the first anomaly, and those that didn’t escape likely ended up in this magma.

And this was just a start. Soon, more and more bones drifted around Lu Yaoyao. While most were from beasts, she would sometimes stumble upon human bones as well.

The magma was thick, greatly limiting Lu Yaoyao’s visibility. She was surrounded by magma in all directions and was essentially forced to grope her way forward.

This volcanic magma seemed very dangerous, so Lu Yaoyao took precautions by concealing her aura.

As she proceeded to swim through the seemingly endless canal, Lu Yaoyao’s mind began to wander. Where was the source of the disturbance? She had been searching for a long time and hadn’t found a single living creature.

Lu Yaoyao paddled with her limbs, moving forward while continuing to sink.

Could it have detected her presence and hidden away?

After pondering for a moment, Lu Yaoyao took a few attack talismans from her small pouch and tossed them in four directions: front, back, left, and right.

The talismans, wrapped in spiritual aura, shot forward, and the next moment, a muffled tremor sounded. The magma surged more violently, causing Lu Yaoyao’s small body to shake along with it. The continuous, low rumbling didn’t cease; instead, it became increasingly pronounced, as if the world were turning upside down.

Lu Yaoyao sensed an unusual aura. Her eyes lit up: here it comes!

She unsheathed her soft sword and readied herself for battle. The magma continued to roil and rage, but the fleeting aura she had just sensed seemed to vanish again. Lu Yaoyao didn’t let her guard down; her expression grew more solemn. She waited quietly for a moment, but that thing still didn’t appear. Could it have escaped?

Lu Yaoyao pretended to lower his guard, intentionally exposing a weak point behind her. The next moment, the surging magma seemed to come alive and swiftly attacked the opening. Lu Yaoyao reacted quickly, turning to the side and swinging her sword. The solidified form was sliced in half, and then dissipated, merging with the magma.

Lu Yaoyao furrowed her brows in thought. The shape it had formed was somewhat familiar, long and narrow—could it be a snake?

Before she could think further, the magma around her suddenly twisted, attacking her from all sides. Lu Yaoyao dodged and swung her sword. But the creature’s color was the same as the magma, making it difficult to distinguish, and it only had form when condensed, formless when dispersed.

Lu Yaoyao tried to catch it, but she was at a disadvantage and had no choice but to retreat repeatedly.

This won’t do—she thought to herself.

So she took out a high-level offensive artifact, predicted where the creature would appear, and quickly threw it out. The artifact exploded with a muffled bang—its power was enormous, several times more potent than her previous attacks.

This attack seemed to anger the creature. Lu Yaoyao found herself covered in that strange liquid, enveloped completely. Before she could think of how to deal with it, her vision suddenly blurred, and the magma vanished.

Instinctively, Lu Yaoyao closed her eyes, then opened them again. Looking around, she wondered in confusion: An illusion?
