In the end, the Longevity Pill was won by another VIP in a private room. “They didn’t win the bid.” Lu Yaoyao sighed in disappointment. If the owner of the Glazed Illusion Herb had won, she could go directly to the auction house to trade for the item. But now, she didn’t know who the bidder was, let alone how to find them!
Seeing Lu Yaoyao’s disappointment, Wen Zixing suggested, “After we leave, we can spread the word that we’re looking for Glazed Illusion Herb and are willing to trade any kind of pill for it. Wouldn’t that attract them to come to us?”
Lu Yaoyao nodded, “That’s a great idea!”
“Xingxing, you’re really smart!”
Wen Zixing nodded proudly, “Of course.”
“Then let’s do that.” Lu Yaoyao could barely contain her excitement, “We’ll note down everything we want, and after we leave, we’ll spread words to trade for it!”
“Alright!”
Baitong laughed heartily, “You guys are really amusing.” Instead of bidding on auction items, they are more interested in what other guests have.
“Trading is trading, just the same,” Lu Yaoyao said innocently.
Yan Zihui, who had been watching in silence: “…” Taking these kids out and babysitting them was too much for his fragile heart!
Soon, the third lot was presented. It was another pill, but this one was clearly different. The surrounding aura wasn’t the usual faint green or purple, but black and red, interwoven with a sense of bloodiness and ominousness. It was a—
“Devil Pill!” Lu Yaoyao jumped out of her seat just as the auctioneer on the platform began introducing: “I’m sure many of you have already noticed that this is a Devil Pill, which our auction house acquired by chance…” The auctioneer gave a brief introduction and then announced, “The starting bid for this lot is ten thousand high-grade spirit stones.”
Because the grade of the pill wasn’t particularly high, the starting bid was also low. The main factor contributing to its value was its rarity, as there were only a handful of Devil Pills in existence.
Without hesitation, Lu Yaoyao pressed the button next to her chair, “Twenty thousand high-grade spirit stones!” She clenched her fist. Oh my, oh my, oh my!! I’m really excited!!!
“Why do you want a Devil Pill?” Wen Zixing was curious.
Lu Yaoyao confidently replied, “I want to study it. Devil Pills are also pills, aren’t they? The fundamentals should be similar, so I’m curious to see what makes them different from our usual pills.” Since she planned to refine Devil Pills in the future, this was a perfect opportunity for her to start her research.
Baitong chuckled, “As expected of a Guiyuan disciple, you really have a studious spirit.”
“No, no, it’s nothing.”
At first, Lu Yaoyao assumed that, since the guests were human, they wouldn’t be interested in a Devil Pill. To her surprise, many people were bidding on it, including VIPs from other private rooms. During a brief conversation with her friends, the price swiftly rose to an exorbitant eighty thousand high-grade spirit stones.
Determined to win, Lu Yaoyao bid again, “One and a half million high-grade spirit stones.”
The neighboring private room also continued bidding, and the price soon climbed to two million. However, at that price, many people seemed to think it wasn’t worth it and dropped out, leaving only Lu Yaoyao and the VIP from the adjacent room.
“Three hundred thousand!” Lu Yaoyao shouted. When it comes to wealth, who could outbid her? Behind her was not only one but two incredibly rich fathers!
It seemed that the bidder in the neighboring room sensed Lu Yaoyao’s determination to win, as no further bids came from that direction. In the end, she successfully won the Devil Pill with a bid of three million spirit stones.
Lu Yaoyao had been prepared for a fierce bidding war, but when the other party gave up so easily, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief and eagerly awaited the delivery.
Soon, there was a knock on the door of their private room, and an attendant entered, holding a tray. On the tray was a small square box, about the size of a palm. “Please inspect the item,” the attendant politely said.
This time, Yan Zihui handled the transaction while Lu Yaoyao watched seriously from the side. After confirming that the item was correct, Yan Zihui promptly handed over the spirit stones. The attendant, having completed the transaction, politely took his leave.
As soon as the attendant left, Lu Yaoyao, Wen Zixing, and the others couldn’t wait to gather around and examine the Devil Pill. What they saw on the screen earlier seemed pretty awesome, but in person, the pill looked rather ordinary.
“Have seen enough? It’s just a Devil Pill, nothing too special,” Yan Zihui said as he closed the box and handed it to Lu Yaoyao, cautioning her, “Keep it safe, and don’t take it out lightly.”
Lu Yaoyao nodded repeatedly, taking the box with a wide smile.
Yan Zihui, still concerned about his overly curious junior brothers and sisters, warned them again, “Study it if you must, but don’t ingest it.”
“What would happen if we ate it?” Du Qianshan asked.
Yan Zihui did not hesitate to scare them, “It would turn you into a devil cultivator, and then you’ll be chased away by the entire Cultivation Realm. Aren’t you afraid?”
“Don’t worry, Senior Brother,” Lu Yaoyao assured him, patting her small pouch. “I’m just going to study it. The pill would be gone if I ate it, wouldn’t it? I’m not about to do something that stupid!”
Since Yan Zihui had paid for the Devil Pill upfront, Lu Yaoyao returned the spirit stones to him. Yan Zihui didn’t refuse, as parting with three million high-grade spirit stones would have been painful even for him.
The auction continued, and their group watched intently through the screen. Lu Yaoyao was quite impressed—this auction was indeed interesting, offering many rare items that were hard to come by in the regular market. Seeing each lot ended up selling for quite a sum, she quietly calculated—even if the auction house only took a commission, it would still earn a substantial amount. What’s more, since this was an underground auction, she’d heard that the items were already settled with the original sellers prior to the auction, meaning that the profit from the auction prices belonged entirely to the auction house.
Baitong observed the string of valuable items being auctioned, lost in thought. Initially, he had assumed that starting with such high-profile items was a strategy to warm up the atmosphere. However, every item presented so far has been equally rare and valuable.
Lu Yaoyao and her friends, attending an auction for the first time, didn’t find anything unusual, thinking this was the norm. But for those who frequently attended auctions, this one did feel quite different.
Yan Zihui also noticed that the quality of the lots was unusually high, but since this was his first time attending an underground auction in Moxuan City, he wasn’t familiar with how things usually went, so he cast a questioning glance at Baitong.
Baitong said, “All I heard was that this underground auction would have some new items and a few rare ones.” But he hadn’t expected it to be this extraordinary.
No wonder many powerful figures from his information network had come from far and wide, though they had kept a low profile. Even Baitong wasn’t sure how many had actually arrived, as everyone kept themselves hidden in the underground auction, avoiding making their presence known.
But he knew this—
“City Lord Hua is here.”
This City Lord Hua was none other than Hua Bailing, the Lord of Moxuan City.
Yan Zihui sighed inwardly. Fortunately, they had been keeping a low profile since entering the city, or they might have run into trouble.
Lu Yaoyao also perked up, straining to listen, as she thought she had heard something about the city lord.
But since Yan Zihui and Baitong stopped talking, she turned her attention back to the auction.
…
.
In the adjacent private room, a female cultivator with elaborate makeup and intricate clothing sat casually on a luxurious seat, her eyes lowered as she glanced at the paper slip in her hand. Her fingers, long and slender, held the paper delicately, her bright red nails resembling blooming flowers. On either side of her stood a pair of cultivators, a man and woman, both respectfully bowing their heads.
She casually tossed the paper slip, which gracefully descended before suddenly igniting into ashes. Her fingertip gently stroked the pattern on her nail. “Mo Liuying’s little disciple?”
“His Venerable’s daughter?”
“Yes.” The two cultivators standing beside her lowered their heads even further, showing even more reverence.
“They’re in the auction house now?”
“Reporting to City Lord. The reports confirm they have arrived at the auction house.”
“They’re in the next room.” Ever since they got a tip about Guiyuan Sect disciples making a stop at Moxuan City, they had been investigating ever since.
If it were just ordinary disciples, Moxuan City wouldn’t even bother, but the anonymous message specifically mentioned Mo Liuying’s youngest disciple, which caught the attention of City Lord Hua. Moxuan City was City Lord Hua’s territory, and tracking a group that hadn’t particularly hidden their whereabouts was easy, so the information was quickly compiled.
If it were any other cultivation clans, they wouldn’t dare easily provoke the well-protected disciples of the Guiyuan Sect, but here was Moxuan City under Hua Bailing’s rule.
“Hah.” Hua Bailing let out a cold laugh. Her alluring eyes, accentuated by her upturned eyeliner, glimmered with a chilling light.
What a coincidence!

No matter how much of a grudge Hua Bailing holds against Mo Liuying for ending their engagement, I’m surprised she would actually target Lu Yaoyao, considering her father is Yao Jiuxiao. It seems like both Hall Master Cao and Hua Bailing think their lives are too long, lol.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
