Yuan Xin was about to continue persuading when Si Yue, noticing movement from the bedroom, turned his head and gestured for the child to come over.
Chi Wen met Si Yue’s gaze and stepped out, still looking downcast.
“Are you hungry?” Si Yue’s voice was gentle.
Chi Wen hung his head, “I’m sorry…” He didn’t mean to eavesdrop.
Si Yue didn’t mind, “What do you think?”
A-about what? Chi Wen quickly caught on, his eyes unwittingly filling with hope, “Uncle, do you really want to adopt me?” He had no sense of security in this world. Even though they weren’t father and son, he still wanted to stay by Si Yue’s side…
“Of course, so what do you say? Do you want to be my son?”
Chi Wen nodded eagerly, almost crying again. He moved forward to hug Si Yue, “I want to!” He suddenly felt secure and reassured, and the uneasiness of returning to this world dissipated.
If… if even his dad didn’t want him, he wouldn’t have the courage to go on alone…
Seeing this, Yuan Xin no longer tried to dissuade Si Yue. Once Si Yue made up his mind, Yuan Xin knew he couldn’t change it. So be it, he didn’t want to meddle anymore. Si Yue must have already thought of a way to handle whatever happened next.
Afterward, Yuan Xin found himself busy for Si Yue again, going back and forth to the orphanage several times to arrange the adoption procedures. The orphanage, initially founded by kind-hearted individuals, didn’t have formal procedures. Due to the lack of attention or understanding from the surrounding residents, it had been informally operating for many years. As he took care of Chi Wen’s adoption, Yuan Xin also used his connections to move the children to a more official orphanage in the city.
Yuan Xin had seen how malnourished the children here and knew that they were not properly taken care of. With the addition of Chi Wen’s complaints about the orphanage’s poor conditions and food, Yuan Xin took care of everything.
Before leaving, they arranged a large sum of donations for the city’s orphanage and ensured the children were adjusting well.
Chi Wen, after one last visit to say goodbye to the former director and other children, followed Si Yue back to the Si family. When he entered the Si family for the first time, he was welcomed warmly as Si Yue’s biological son, but his return this time was as an adopted child. As a result, he was met with more detachment and reservation. Chi Wen felt a bit sad but wasn’t intimidated, believing he could earn their acceptance even without being a Si by blood.
Si Yue saw Chi Wen confidently integrated with his new environment, showing no timidity in the slightest. The boy’s behavior reminded him of his own, which made him pleasantly surprised and satisfied.
Chi Wen was formally included in the Si family’s genealogy and renamed Si Chen, the same name he had in his previous life.
Si Yue’s parents soon accepted Si Chen too, showing him the same love and acceptance as before, filling him with contentment.
The attitudes of the Si family’s three most important members naturally influenced everyone else.
Si Chen grew up nurtured and supported by the Si family. After turning sixteen, he established his own company and successfully expanded it rapidly with several impressive projects. In just a few years, Si Chen became a prominent figure in the business world, earning respect and acknowledgment from the side branches as a worthy heir to the Si family.
When Si Chen turned eighteen, Si Yue revealed his true origins. In this life, Si Chen personally dealt with the Chang and Fang families, avenging grievances from two lifetimes.
Even without counting the Si family’s backing, the company Si Chen built in this life was more than twice as large as in his previous life. He fearlessly faced the Chang family and the Fangs, even bankrupting the family of Chang Xueai’s fiancé, who had done many dirty tricks on him in his previous life.
Si Chen personally witnessed his enemies’ downfall, ensuring they could never rise again. However, he wasn’t as cruel as they had been. Those people had madly targeted everyone who dared to lend him even a bit of help, but he would never harm those unrelated to his vengeance.
With his revenge finished, a big burden was lifted from Si Chen’s heart. Relieved, he often found himself missing the other life and dreaming about it…
…
When Si Chen opened his eyes again, he was momentarily disoriented, having dreamt of his mother again. He hoped that in the parallel world, his family was still doing well…
He stared at the ceiling for a while before getting out of bed.
Huh? Why does the room seem so much taller?
Si Chen didn’t dwell on it and headed to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Then, looking up, he saw a young, childish face in the mirror, around thirteen or fourteen years old, with traces of baby fat still on his cheeks.
Si Chen stared at the reflection, afraid to blink, worried it was an illusion.
Has he been reborn again? Or has he… returned?
Si Chen tossed his toothbrush aside and ran out. In his haste, his feet slipped and he almost fell, yet he did not slow down.
Racing downstairs, he saw the person he had dreamed of countless times. Fu Yunruo was carrying breakfast from the kitchen. Seeing her son’s reckless dash, she chided, “What are you running for? Be careful not to fall…”
Si Chen blinked dazedly, then rushed forward and hugged Fu Yunruo, bursting into tears.
Mom, it’s mom!
Fu Yunruo, sensing Wenwen’s distress, comforted him, “What’s wrong? Did someone bully you? Tell Mom, and I’ll take care of it.”
“Mom…”
Wenwen cried inconsolably. Fu Yunruo, feeling his longing and grievance, quickly soothed, “Did you have a nightmare? Don’t worry, mom is here.” Wenwen had rarely been this clingy since he turned ten, making Fu Yunruo’s heart melt as she comforted, “It’s okay, mom’s here…”
“You’re not a child anymore, acting like a baby, clinging to your mom like that, tsk.” Si Yue, hearing the commotion, saw his son hugging his wife and disapprovingly pulled him away by the collar.
Wenwen, with tear-filled eyes, looked up at Si Yue, then turned to hug him.
He is finally back!
Si Yue, surprised by his son’s sudden affection, stopped his disdainful act and patted Wenwen’s young shoulder, “Man up, it’s just a nightmare, what’s there to be afraid of?”
That’s because the dream was too real and terrifying – Wenwen retorted silently.
It took a while for Wenwen to calm down, then he felt a small tug on his pant leg.
Looking down, he saw a small toddler resembling Si Yue, with hair in cute pigtails, clinging to his knee and looking up at him. “Brother, don’t cry. I will beat the baddies!” the girl said in a soft, mushy voice.
Wenwen immediately smiled, picked up the little girl, and praised, “Yeah, my sister’s so brave!”

It made me cry too 🤧🤧
Thanks for the chapter ❣️
It gave him closure but also kinda a torment. Leaving a lifetime in a dream to wake up again that it was just a nightmare. Honestly, Wenwen really had a mind of a steel. So the son look like the mother and the daughter look like the father. Thankfully the genes are beautiful, if not the daughter will be so pitiful 🤣🤣.
