MWFV Ch.69 Part 2 – Truth From the Past (II)

In the past few years, Su Mei has not entirely forgotten about her past and her first two children. The twin was a hurdle in her heart that she couldn’t get past, and at the same time, also a nightmare she didn’t want to face and remember.

“Thank you for finding the children, and also for raising them,” Su Mei said to Mr. Qin: “If possible, I want to bring them to live with me. I’ll fulfill my responsibility as their mother. This also to make up what I owe them.”

The current Su Mei was a lot more mature than before. She had considered this issue carefully: Her family’s condition was good now, and her husband also knew that she had two children previously. It should be no problem for her to pick up Su Bei and Xiaobao to live with her.

Su Mei’s words almost made Mr. Qin laugh out in anger.

“Mrs. Li’s ‘thank you’ is misplaced. Xiaobei and Xiaobei are my children. It is natural for me to raise them, and there is no need for outsiders to thank me.” He agreed to meet Su Mei, only to give the children’s biological mother a chance to explain, not to let her ask for the children’s custody.

“Besides,” Qin Shao looked at Su Mei coldly: “It seems that Mrs. Li still doesn’t quite understand that Xiaobei and Xiaobao are Qin Group’s heirs. With just the shares in their hands, they have more than enough to buy 100 Li family’s industries.”

“So, put away your alms. My children don’t need it.”

If Su Mei found the children and took them to live with her when they still lived badly in the countryside, Mr. Qin has nothing to say. But now, one of the children was Qin family’s princess, and the other was Qin Group’s crown prince. Did they still need to go to Li family to live under someone else’s alms?

Hearing Mr. Qin’s words, Su Mei’s face turned pale: Although the remark was straightforward and impolite, it was right.

With the children’s current status and family background, they didn’t need sympathy or charity from anyone. What’s more, Mr. Qin was a good father. From what she heard via Li Man’er about Su Bei and Su Xiaobao’s news at school, Su Mei knew how good the twins’ life was. They obviously didn’t need her to live well and happily.

“I’m sorry. It’s my lack of consideration.” Su Mei whispered.

“Can I meet them?” She tried to ask. If she could take a glance at the children, the knot in her heart would also be resolved.

“No, for their sake, I won’t let you meet them.” And my children don’t want to see you either.

There was a secret triumph in Mr. Qin’s eyes: Xiaobei and Xiaobao obviously much closer to their father than their’ mother.’ When they left the countryside, they came to find him instead of Su Mei.

Qin Shao was about to call an assistant to send the guest off. But Su Mei looked hesitated, and finally told Qin Shao the other thing that she has long buried in her memory: “Song Yancheng has taken human lives before.”

Because Song Yancheng wanted to use Su Mei’s children to threaten Qin Shao, he didn’t drive Su Mei away on his wedding day. He coaxed Su Mei and left her behind in a temporary place. It was there when Su Mei accidentally overheard Song Yancheng’s conversation with another man she didn’t recognize.

Su Mei: “I don’t know who the other person was. But he seemed to be dangerous. They were talking about a plan to create a car accident and kill a Jihua International’s shareholder. Another senior executive was forced to death by creditor. This was also premeditated by them…”

The conversation Su Mei accidentally overheard was more than shocking. Although she had fought with Lin You fiercely and did many underhanded tricks, at most she only bought water army to discredit her rival. Murder, this kind of heavy crime, was completely beyond her cognition.

At that moment, Su Mei finally realized: Song Yancheng, the man she liked, the gentle and warm actor admired by many, was actually a devil in human skin.

This was the biggest reason for Su Mei’s hasty escape.

Su Mei told Qin Shao some of the details she heard at that time: “I don’t know if this info is useful to you or not. Song Yancheng should also be targeting you. If possible, I hope you don’t let him go. ”

Qin Shao looked at Su Mei lightly. For a moment, he didn’t say anything.

Although Su Mei gave him the information to ensure her own safety, there was no doubt that her statement was useful. When the shareholder and senior executive had an accident, their death greatly affected Jihua International. Qin Shao also suspected that the so-called accidents were actually by human design. Unfortunately, the clues he found were limited, plus Qin Jinguo and Chen Xueyan’s intentional interception, he could only leave the matter behind.

Now, by following the clues provided by Su Mei, it would be enough for him to send Song Yancheng to prison.

Very good.

Qin Shao: “As before, Qin Group will exchange the info you give with one favor.”

Of course, Su Mei knew that the ‘before’ Mr. Qin said referred to the video that her husband handed over. It was precisely because of Qin Group’s favor that their company’s jewelry business was able to gain a foothold in the local market so quickly.

Su Mei did not dare to ask for anything: “Previously, Mr. Qin helped our family a lot. This time I don’t need it. I just want to tell you what I know.”

“I have my principles, you can mention any favor. Of course, except for my children’s custody.”

T/N:

I really dislike this Su Mei. Remember the novel plot: when the children need help the most, she didn’t do anything. Now that they are perfectly well, she wants to take them away, and just for the reason of easing her consience.

Moreover, it actually isn’t hard for Su Mei to help the novel!twins either. They can live by themselves. A bit financial help is all they need, and it can be done anonymously. As for the reason of fearing Song Yancheng? That’s happen decade ago, does she truly believed that Song Yancheng still searching for her or her children?

If she truly traumatized by Song Yancheng, she won’t return to the same city at Song family or enroll her daughter to the same school as Song Xinyi. If she is really afraid, she will at least try to find information about Song family prior to her return, so she can avoid them.

I cannot help but think that the real reason she wants to ‘make it up’ to the twins is because they are now Qin’s heirs. Even if she isn’t eyeing Qin family’s power, she is probably afraid of revenge. If a mother abandoned her children, forming a new family, and lives happily, it won’t be strange for the abandoned chilren to resent her. Is she afraid that the twins will do something to Li family or Li Man’er? Or is it just like the narrative says, that Su Mei only want to ease her guilt? Who knows.

Edit:

So sorry for the delay T_T. I have scheduled this post correctly, but for some reason, it wasn’t posted in time. And I also didn’t check the site yesterday so only noticed now….. this week really a bad week for productivity. I’m going to fix THDP now, including the supposed-to-be-released-in-Tuesday chapter, but GNU will be delayed. And donation button is temporarily closed, I’ll probably open it back again in 1-2 weeks. See you later!

  1. You’ve forgotten one very dire factor: the plot. They all need to be in the same city, within close proximity so they can have a higher chance of running into each other – duh! There’s no common sense logic of settling into another city to avoid SY or caring for the twins anonymously because both of these wouldn’t help further the plot!

    1. tky for the update. tN and everyone are right. if she were sincere she would have looked for them in the original drama. Take care.

  2. Fully agree with ya tN! She really, really bugs me. I can dealwith the abandonment, but how could she not support them in any way?

But how cool was Daddy Qins shut down??!! ❤

  3. I agree wholeheartedly with you TL! She just bugs me… a part of me wants the twins to have a relatively healthy relationship with another family member- even if it’s just man’er; she looks like a good kid.. but Su Mei’s attitude leaves a lot to be desired though… unless she really just wants to use the twin’s connection with her to help the Li family… well, I guess we’ll see in the long run!

  4. Honestly I feel the same way. Like she never bothered to check on them even after her life became stable and I doubt she would have cared if they never showed up again. What can two children do. But now after she finds out they’re under the QIN name… She has to take care of them to make up for abandoning them? I call BS on her ‘guilt’. She’s probably guilty but that’s not the reason why she wants to see them. It’s to tell them not to bother her in her current stable life with potential revenge
    Many thanks

  5. True. The so called ‘didnt want song yancheng found the twins’ is just her selfish reason, bc she hate the facts that those kids is hers. Of course at that time. I personally understand her act, its her own choice afterall. Being young and stupid.

But yes, just like the author say ‘she may be man’er good mother, but to the twins…nopeeeee’

  6. I was really hoping to see Mr. Qin explain to her just what the twins went through while her family of three was living well

  7. Minor Spoiler about another novel below.

    ________________________________________________

Su Mei reminds me of another mother from a story called Chongfei Manual. Unlike this novel, Chongfei Manual takes place in Ancient China. Both mothers gave birth to fraternal twins and abandoned them shortly after giving birth. In the original life of both FL’s, their mothers are nowhere to be found when their children need them. However, after the FL’s are reborn their biological mothers suddenly show and say that the want to have a relationship with the children after they abandoned them and never looked back. Both of these women disgust me, people like them aren’t worthy of being parents!

  8. It seems I’m of minority in my thoughts about Su siblings’ abandonment by Su Mei. I can’t say what she did as normal, but given that she just had known that she’s “unconsciously (without her consent) have s*x” with an unknown stranger… That’s sounds like r*pe… She even given birth to a pair of baby out of it. Even though she’s wrong for initially intending to r*pe Song Yancheng, It doesn’t negate that she and Qin Shao were the ones who were ended being r*ped.

Even some normal parents can contract Baby Blues Syndrome (post-natal or post-pregnancy depression), not to mention a mother who’s a r*pe victim, alone (without support), and hunted down by a powerful murderer. Someone in her mental state at that time, they needed time (or even psychologist) to deal with their issues before they’re allowed to get near their baby/children.

    1. Also, Song Yancheng in the original novel is supposedly the original male lead, yet somehow he is a nasty, cruel, murderous arsehole. So I think Su Mei being not as indifferent to her children as previously stated in the original novel is fair enough.

  9. Translator I agree with you like she could have made someone investigate about them even if she’s abroad and help them secretly as she has a good life now but no she didn’t it’s not like she couldn’t do Anything it’s just that SHE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING

  10. I think it’s a matter of “out of sight, out of mind.” She could ignore them until the point they were put directly in her face. Although I understand the disgust toward her abandonment, this is in line with human nature. The twins represent a traumatic experience (finding out her idol is a devil, that she was pregnant with an unknown man’s child, etc) and she wanted to be distanced from it and bury her past totally like it didn’t happen. She didn’t know they were living badly, and could tell herself they were ok as long as she never checked. I don’t actually think she was after the Qin money, it’s just that she can no longer deny their existence at this point, so to resolve her guilt she makes that offer. I wonder if she will tell her daughter that she has siblings at the same school?

I have to wonder how she accidentally slept with the wrong guy. He was drugged, but shouldn’t she have noticed the man wasn’t the one she expected? He never said a word so she could hear his voice was different? I can’t even imagine these plots, considering that most drugs aren’t going to be conducive to sex – unconscious men aren’t exactly in condition to perform….

    1. Oh, and definitely I wonder what kind of book that original story was – the ML is a murderer and his daughter is also no good. I understand he’s the protagonist of the story, but how did Su Bei come to the conclusion that her family was villains when they’re just victims?? The main characters can also be the villains!

  11. You forget, in the original plot Su Xiaobao was imprisoned while Song Xinyi was at her piano competition. And Su Bei was kidnapped, raped and murdered shortly afterwards. This all happened much earlier, while Su Mei and her family were still abroad.

  12. HeSheForeverBell

*reading to comments, seeing how readers twists themselves into knots*
My thoughts are similar to your TL(minus the Qin family theory).

  13. True, but it makes sense. Out of sight out of mind. It makes her terrible, but if she wasn’t confronted with seeing them she could bury it. A lot of people live that way in real life.

  14. Daddy Qin didn’t find the kids when they were 4. They came to him at 14. FOURTEEN YEARS! Her life had stabilized years ago, she did nothing. The initial abandonment is bad, but understandable. The continued abandonment is not. You have to think about both time and circumstances. Also we know in the altenate story she never shows back up. Meaning she came back to the country and if she had never seen them she wouldn’t have so much as checked on them.

  15. So many hate for Su Mei, though I can somewhat understand and even relate to some, I still do think they are being too harsh.

Su Mei definitely had a lot of shortcomings and still have some even now but it isn’t like she is all bad. She is a good wife and mother to her current fam. She also has been thinking about the twins but haven’t been able to do anything. She probably could’ve but it really isn’t as easy as it sounds, like it might make a mess with her current fam, then there is the fact of how their circumstances then that clearly continued to haunt her.

I still think that what she did was wrong and could’ve done better but I also think she deserves a second chance to redeem herself. Would love to see her and her new fam get along with the twins and their new fam, especially the little ones.
