Questions filled Xue Chengxuan’s mind, but he didn’t ask Yun Qingyan directly. Instead, he managed a slight smile and said, “So, Senior Yun means…”
“Senior?” Yun Qingyan looked at Xue Chengxuan with a smile that was not quite a smile, “You call me a senior?”
Xue Chengxuan: “…”
“Indeed,” Yun Qingyan waved his sleeve, “I once had a brief encounter with your great-grandfather, and even he politely addressed me as a senior.”
“Yes,” Xue Chengxuan respectfully cupped his hands, “I have heard elders back home mention it.”
“Meng Qi is my Dao companion, you should also address her as a senior,” Yun Qingyan said indifferently, disregarding his polite attitude.
Xue Chengxuan: “…”
Meng Qi: “…”
Now, even Qin Xiumo, Qiao Ran, and the rest of the group could see that this Demon Realm powerhouse had a dislike of Xue Chengxuan. Still, it was understandable—anyone would be displeased if their Dao companion was coveted by another man just because of the Xue Clan’s ulterior motives.
“Heh—” Yun Qingyan chuckled lightly, clearly in a good mood.
The corners of Ling Ji’s lips also lifted slightly. Even so, he didn’t share the same dislike for Xue Chengxuan, given that he was not only the eldest son of the Xue clan but also Meng Qi’s fellow medical cultivator. In his eyes, Xue Chengxuan was still a better option than Yun Qingyan, whose origin and identity were completely unknown.
“Could Brother Yun elaborate a bit?” Qin Xiumo smoothly took over the conversation, “About the array you just mentioned?”
“It’s quite simple,” Yun Qingyan raised his right hand and swiftly traced in the air. His fingers were long and slender and his movements elegant yet swift; in the blink of an eye, an array emitting a faint white light appeared in mid-air.
Yun Qingyan flicked his wrist next, embedding several profound-grade spirit stones into the array. He then draped an arm around Meng Qi’s shoulders and stepped into the array’s range with her.
Qin Xiumo and the others widened their eyes in amazement. With just one step, both figures, along with the gleaming array, vanished from sight. Not only did their figures disappear, but their auras and presence did as well. Meng Qi and Yun Qingyan seemed to have completely vanished as if they had left this place entirely.
As everyone stood there dumbfounded, Yun Qingyan reappeared with Meng Qi, stepping out of thin air as if nothing had happened. From disappearance to reappearance, the transition was so smooth and effortless.
Everyone gasped. They were not unfamiliar with the legend of the now-extinct array cultivators in the Three Thousand Worlds, but the art had since been lost in the river of time. Nowadays, only refinery cultivators employed the use of arrays, and even them had been in decline. Even though the Tianhai Pavilion had gained some array legacy from an ancient sect a few centuries ago, progress had only been made in tool refinement.
Ling Ji’s gaze suddenly deepened. He quietly observed Yun Qingyan for a while before slowly shifting his attention away.
This guy… no, this man’s background must be extraordinary.
“That’s how it is,” Yun Qingyan stated, “What do you think?”
“It’s…it’s excellent!” Xue Chengxuan regained his composure and exclaimed, “With this, attacking any part of the city wall is possible.” He paused, then added, “Why don’t you all go to the south wall, and we head directly to the west?”
The south of the city was where the only mountain path was located. Logically, given their small numbers and the element of surprise they needed, they wouldn’t normally choose the south wall. It was likely that the defenders from the Earthly Camp also thought they wouldn’t choose that side, so it was safe to assume that the defense there would be the weakest.
“Since that’s the case, let’s set off now,” Xue Chengxuan took a deep breath and said, “An hour from now, regardless of the outcome, we’ll retreat here to regroup. The enemy outnumbers us significantly and they have the city’s arrays for defense, so everyone must be careful.”
“We four will head down the mountain first.” Xue Chengxuan glanced at Meng Qi, and together with Qiao Ran and Pei Mufeng, they started descending ahead of the others.
“This young man is quite capable, knowing when to bend and when to be firm,” Ling Ji commented as he watched Xue Chengxuan’s advancing figure. Yun Qingyan had rather embarrassed Xue Chengxuan just now. Although there was no malice, it still put him in a difficult position. However, Xue Chengxuan had only hesitated for a moment before regaining his composure, and when he spoke again, his tone hadn’t changed. It was rare to find such maturity in the people his age.
It seems that the Feng Alliance has big ambitions—Ling Ji didn’t voice this thought, just kept it to himself.
“We should also get going too,” Qin Xiumo said.
“Alright,” Pei Mufeng nodded.
The group positioned themselves under Yun Qingyan’s array and swiftly made their way down the mountain.
Meng Qi stood under the array, watching the faint white light cascading around her.
This array… was also something Yun Qingyan had taught her. It was incredibly useful for medical cultivators like her, whose combat ability wasn’t strong, as it could completely hide her presence. In dangerous situations, it could potentially be life-saving. However, when Meng Qi was initially learning it, her cultivation was too low, and the array could easily be detected by enemies stronger than herself, so she rarely used it.
Seeing Yun Qingyan deploy it now, walking beside him with the soft white light of the array enveloping them… she was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion—
Sovereign Qingyan had truly shared everything with her!
A thought struck Meng Qi, and she lowered her gaze to Yun Qingyan’s hand beside her. Her heart fluttered again. He had not only saved her life and accompanied her, but had also shared all his knowledge without reservation. How could there be such a good person in this world? And she had been fortunate enough to meet him!
No wonder she was always misunderstood and wronged in the past; even though she did good deeds, they seldom resulted in good outcomes… Perhaps all her luck was spent in meeting Yun Qingyan!
Meng Qi suddenly felt enlightened. Truth be told, she was still somewhat resentful about what had happened in her previous life. After all, saving people and yet being misunderstood and even harmed by those she treated was not pleasant. But just thinking that all these misunderstandings and injuries were the price of meeting Yun Qingyan, everything became insignificant.
A warm skin suddenly brushed Meng Qi’s hand. She lowered her gaze and saw Yun Qingyan’s long fingers brushing past her wrist. As he was about to pull away, his fingers curled slightly, gently scratching the palm of her hand.
“…” Meng Qi’s lips curled up in a light smile, her heart filled with a strange new feeling. It was an odd feeling, not entirely happiness or satisfaction, yet it made every step feel like she was walking on cloud nines, feeling as if everything she saw was bathed in brilliant sunlight.
“Be careful,” Yan Xuan lowered his voice, “They’ve already arrived.”

I want to see Yun Qingyan vs Ji Wuqiong in the battle of array🤔
Ji would lose, even if Yun is injured, he is still the main lead.
Yun Qingyan prob will win with the Ji Wuqiong we’ve seen, but if he is stronger than what we’ve seen, then it will be kinda close but Yun Qingyan prob will still win. Ji Wuqiong doesn’t focus purely on arrays and also doesn’t know as much arrays as Yun Qingyan, nor do I think he has developed his own or modified it like Yun Qingyan. As we know, Yun Qingyan is also richer, meaning he can use more arrays. It would be fun to see Yun Qingyan try to humiliate Ji Wuqiong tho. (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾
