“Fellow Daoist Qiao.” Meng Qi’s voice brought Qiao Ran back to reality. “Coming,” he quickly moved to the side of the blue-robed girl, taking over the injured person she was supporting.
“She’s lost too much blood.” Meng Qi announced as a silver needle in her hand pierced the major acupuncture points along the female cultivator’s arm, infusing spiritual aura. “I’ll stop her bleeding first,” she said, as she placed a pill into the unconscious woman’s mouth.
Meng Qi moved swiftly, her left hand never stopping, as several spiritual herbs fell into her Five Spirits Cauldron. Behind her, the sounds of swords clashing and spell attacks were constant. Yet her expression remained focused and calm, as if completely unaffected by the chaos happening nearby.
The herbs in the Five Spirits Cauldron quickly transformed into a blob of green paste. Meng Qi applied it to the unconscious cultivator’s wound. The blood seemed to encounter something frightening and immediately retreated, stopping the bleeding.
“Let’s go.” Meng Qi turned and rushed back to Li Che. This time, she didn’t let Qiao Ran carry the patient but carried her herself, swiftly returning to the corner of the city wall with a few quick leaps. Qiao Ran followed silently, watching Meng Qi’s slender back figure. Despite her slim frame, she was a Nascent Soul cultivator, so carrying a person mid-air posed no problem to her.
“This person…” Once they reached the wall, Li Che and Chen Yu quickly gathered around, “Her wound is very deep.”
“It’s just an external injury, a cultivator shouldn’t be bleeding this much.”
“Meng Qiqi, the ointment you’re using…” Li Che lightly touched the green paste on the female cultivator’s wound, “This is Earth Spirit Paste!” He looked up in surprise at Meng Qi, “Even this isn’t stopping the bleeding.”
“Earth Spirit Paste can’t stop the bleeding?!” Chen Yu took out a silver needle and gently scooped a tiny amount of the paste from the wound, “Earth Spirit Paste is one of the best medicines for stopping bleeding and treating external injuries. If it can’t stop the bleeding, the wound isn’t caused by a normal weapon.” He pulled back the needle and sniffed it, surprised, “Smell this!”
“Hmm?” Li Che leaned in and took a sniff, “This…!!” He looked surprised, “Such a sweet smell isn’t the scent of Earth Spirit Paste, it’s from this person’s blood!”
“It’s devil aura!” Chen Yu said, “The weapon that wounded her was crafted with devil aura, that’s why it left such a scent.”
“Are you sure it’s devil aura? As far as I know, there are at least seven poisonous herbs, thirteen poisonous flowers, and four venomous insects that can leave such a sweet, honey-like scent in blood.”
“But out of those, only three would cause uncontrollable bleeding. And even for those three, Earth Spirit Paste should still stop the bleeding!”
“This is what I took from her wound.” Meng Qi raised her hand, revealing a small, unremarkable black iron fragment. It was unnaturally heavy; despite its small size, the fragment weighed down her palm.
“A fragment of a devil weapon!” Li Che exclaimed.
“It’s indeed a devil weapon!”
“There’s a cultivator with a devil weapon among us!” Li Che was incredulous, unable to believe it, “How did they infiltrate?”
“Save her first!” Meng Qi said decisively.
“For a devil weapon, we need to use the Qingxin spell to remove the devil aura from her body. Mine is at the fifth realm.” Li Che said.
“Same here, but I am almost reaching the sixth realm.” Chen Yu said, “Let me do it.”
“Sixth realm.” Meng Qi placed her hand on the unconscious cultivator’s forehead, “Give her a Qingxin Pill.”
“Alright.” Li Che placed a Qingxin Pill in the patient’s mouth per Meng Qi’s instruction.
“Wait!” Chen Yu seemed to just realize something, “She… her Qingxin spell is at the sixth realm?!”
“Correct.” Li Che nodded.
Chen Yu stared at Meng Qi for a long moment, then muttered, “She’s only a Nascent Soul cultivator, how is this possible…”
Li Che glanced at him and said, “Let’s save her first.” As he spoke, he began tossing herbs into his natal cauldron.
Chen Yu shifted his gaze from Meng Qi to Li Che and then to Qiao Ran standing nearby. “Let’s go find other wounded people,” he finally said to Qiao Ran, guessing Meng Qi’s intention and seeing that he wasn’t needed at the moment.
“No.” Qiao Ran flatly refused.
“Eh?”
“My task is to protect Junior Sister.” He gestured towards Meng Qi with his chin, “I can’t leave her side.”
“…” Chen Yu was completely dumbfounded. A Nascent Soul medical cultivator who practiced her Qingxin spell to the sixth realm was surprising enough, and now this? He knew Qiao Ran, even if Qiao Ran didn’t know him. Wasn’t this the genius sword cultivator of the Duankong Sect? Why was he calling Meng Qi, a medical cultivator, his Junior Sister?
Moreover, this Meng Qi… Chen Yu thoughtfully watched Meng Qi, who was busy kneeling beside the patient. He had heard of her too—a young medical cultivator from a virtually unknown small sect who shone brightly during the trial in the Apricot Forest and was eventually recognized as a friend by the remnant spirit of Lin Yan, a legendary medical cultivator from the ancient era.
Chen Yu was puzzled, but he knew he couldn’t command Qiao Ran. Fortunately, Meng Qi quickly finished and withdrew her hand. The devil weapon that had been smuggled into the Ten Absolutes Mountain was not overly powerful, and the sixth-realm Qingxin spell quickly expelled the devil aura from the patient’s body. The rest of the treatment was much simpler.
“Let’s go,” Meng Qi stood up and nodded to Qiao Ran.
“Okay.” Qiao Ran followed her obediently.
After their figures disappeared around the corner of the city wall, Chen Yu cautiously asked, “Why does this Fellow Daoist Qiao from Duankong Sect call Fellow Daoist Meng his junior sister?”
“I don’t know.” Li Che was puzzled for a moment and then asked in return, “He called Meng Qiqi Junior Sister?” As he spoke, he looked around, muttering, “If this fight continues, won’t it stop only when everyone is too injured to fight anymore?”
“Li Che!” Suddenly, a woman’s exclamation came from behind them. Li Che turned quickly to see two people running towards them. The woman, dressed in gorgeous red, was stunningly beautiful, with vibrant eyes and a tall physique. Next to her was a young man in a black robe, equally handsome, though his face was currently grim as he asked, “What’s going on?”
“Li Che! It’s really you!” The woman in red was none other than Sikong Xing. She quickly reached Li Che’s side, her big eyes scanning the area, “What are you doing?” Without waiting for an answer, she hurriedly added, “Have you seen Meng Qiqi? What’s the situation now?”
Still not waiting for Li Che to answer, the red fox girl craned her neck to look around, “On my way here, I think I heard Meng Qiqi’s voice.”
“Uh…” Li Che looked at Sikong Xing and the young man beside her, Chu Tianfeng. He quickly recounted what had happened, “Meng Qiqi and Fellow Daoist Qiao went to rescue others. Fellow Daoist Chen Yu and I are waiting here.”
“We’re going too.” Sikong Xing cheered and turned to call Chu Tianfeng, “Let’s go! Let’s find Meng Qiqi!”
