THDP Ch 165 Part 1 – Greed and Desire (I)

“Meng Qiqi!” Sikong Xing’s voice arrived before she did. As Meng Qi turned her head, she saw the red-robed girl dart through the air like a swallow returning to the nest, landing lightly beside her. “Meng Qiqi!” Sikong Xing spread her arms and gave her a big hug, “Finally found you!”

“Xingxing.” Meng Qi patted her back and glanced at Chu Tianfeng standing nearby. “You two…” Before she could finish asking, Sikong Xing had already started explaining rapidly, “As soon as the battlefield began, we were sent into the city. Others thought that since Chu Tianfeng and I are your friends, we should stay behind to defend the city lord’s manor.”

“Hmm.”

Sikong Xing followed behind her, weaving through the battlefield, continuing, “Chu Tianfeng and I tried to see if we could disable the array around the city lord’s manor.”

“Apparently, it was a powerful array that, once activated, can unleash wind, rain, thunder, lightning, and sword aura all at once,” Sikong Xing said, her expression falling. “But we tried several methods without any effect.”

Meng Qi smiled, “If it could be disabled, they probably wouldn’t have stationed you there.”

“Alas…” Sikong Xing let out a long sigh, “Exactly.” She continued, “Later, those originally stationed in the inner city were moved to the walls. But no orders came for Chu Tianfeng and me. We waited for a while, and as the noise here grew louder, we decided to come over.”

As Sikong Xing spoke, she glanced around, a bit confused, “Meng Qiqi, what’s really going on here?” she asked, “Why does it seem so… chaotic?” She paused, then added, “We met Li Che just now. He roughly explained the situation and mentioned you were saving people with him. I thought it couldn’t be that chaotic, but this… this is really a mess!”

Meng Qi just smiled.

“Meng Qiqi,” Sikong Xing remembered something, “By the way, Li Che also told us about the Thousand Emperor Bell, but we didn’t hear anything.” She turned to Chu Tianfeng, “Right?”

“Yes.” Chu Tianfeng nodded, his deep gaze fixed on Meng Qi. After a moment, he added, “We didn’t hear any sound.”

“Let’s not worry about that now,” Meng Qi said, “We don’t know exactly what’s happening either. Since you’re here, help us out.”

“Alright!” Sikong Xing agreed without hesitation, “Let’s split into two groups. I’ll go with Meng Qiqi, and Chu Tianfeng, you go with Qiao Ran…”

“No!” Qiao Ran refused firmly again, “I must stay with Junior Sister.”

Meng Qi: “…”

Chu Tianfeng: “…”

“Fine, fine.” Sikong Xing didn’t insist, “Then let’s all move together.”

With Sikong Xing and Chu Tianfeng helping, their actions became even faster. In no time, they had brought two injured cultivators back behind the city wall. Li Che, Chen Yu, and Meng Qi, along with Sikong Xing and Chu Tianfeng, moved with increasing speed and coordination.

Aside from occasional debates among the medical cultivators about the patients’ injuries and treatments, they mostly worked in harmony. As more medical cultivators recovered, they joined Meng Qi’s team. Additionally, some rescued spell and sword cultivators, whose injuries were not severe, also began assisting in the rescue efforts once they were able to move. Within an hour, Meng Qi’s team had grown to seventeen or eighteen people, including five medical cultivators.

“Huh—” Li Che finished treating the wound of a sword cultivator and stood up to stretch. He glanced around and saw Meng Qi healing someone. “Meng Qiqi.” Li Che noticed the stone in her hand, which sparkled like starlight, and curiously moved closer. “Is that…”

“Stardust Stone,” Meng Qi said casually. The dark blue stone in her hand was quite small, about the size of a pigeon egg, sparkling like the night sky.

As soon as she mentioned the Stardust Stone, several curious and heated gazes shot over.

“Stardust Stone?” A spell cultivator came closer, curiously looking at Meng Qi’s hand. She was placing the stone on an injured cultivator’s chest, silver-colored medicinal aura swirling around the stone and, along with the starlight, enveloping the patient. “I heard that using a Stardust Stone while cultivating can greatly increase your speed. Is that true?” He asked casually.

With this seemingly nonchalant question, even more heated gazes turned their way.

Meng Qi didn’t respond, but Li Che glanced at the spell cultivator. His expression changed slightly, his eyes flickering. After being treated, the bloodshot in the eyes of these people gradually faded. As they helped heal others, the bloodshot faded even more. But now, new bloodshot was spreading in the spell cultivator’s eyes, like a rising tide.

At first, it appeared at the edges of his eyes, then gradually encroached on the center of his pupils.

“You…” Li Che’s eyes widened as he watched the bloodshot spread, once again occupying most of the spell cultivator’s eyes. “You…” he exclaimed, warning Meng Qi, “Meng Qiqi, look at him!”

Meng Qi turned her head and glanced at the spell cultivator, who was also looking at her, his eyes filled with blood, his gaze turning sinister. And yet, he seemed unaware, chuckling lightly, “What’s wrong with me?”

As soon as he spoke, a swooshing sound rang out in the air, and a thin, narrow sword suddenly appeared between them. Qiao Ran stood behind them, coldly staring at the spell cultivator, his eyes flashing, “Stay away from my junior sister.”

“Hehe.” The spell cultivator chuckled, slowly backing away. He clearly recognized Qiao Ran, saying. “Fellow Daoist Qiao, you misunderstand. I’m just curious.”

The spell cultivator suddenly raised his voice, “After all, the star… mmph…” He couldn’t finish saying “Stardust Stone” because Qiao Ran’s sword had already slashed across his mouth. The spell cultivator hadn’t expected the other party to act so decisively. He clutched his mouth, bent over, with blood seeped through his fingers and dripped to the ground. Qiao Ran’s strike didn’t hurt him badly, but the warning was clear.

Sikong Xing, who was nearby, immediately rushed over, positioning herself between Meng Qi and the spell cultivator. With a movement of her hand, a black wave surged up, surrounding her and Meng Qi, completely shielding them. “White-eyed wolf!” Sikong Xing spat, loudly accusing, “Meng Qi just saved you, and you are ungrateful enough to repay her like this?”

The spell cultivator continued to clutch his mouth, blood still dripping from between his fingers. It seemed that Qiao Ran’s sword had caused him more than a superficial wound. Bent over, he didn’t respond to Sikong Xing, just clutching his mouth as if in great pain.

“Hmph.” Sikong Xing stood firmly in front of Meng Qi.

Meng Qi remained half-kneeling on the ground, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on the injured cultivator she was currently treating. The stardust stone glowed, its silver-colored medicinal aura gradually being absorbed by the patient, becoming dimmer with each passing second. Her expression was focused as if she didn’t notice the commotion around her.

“Meng Qiqi.” Sikong Xing kept glaring at the spell cultivator, who was still bending over in agony, covering his bleeding mouth. Whether out of shame or pain, he remained silent. The red-robed flamboyant girl stepped closer to Meng Qi, shifting her gaze to her focused friend. Qiao Ran cast a faint glance at the spell cultivator, summoning his natal sword back to his side with a slight wave of his hand.

He recognized the spell cultivator and knew that this person had some abilities. Anyone who could enter the Ten Absolutes Mountain was no weakling. Qiao Ran knew that his previous strike was not heavy, meaning more of a warning. Perhaps the spell cultivator still had some shame in him—after all, Meng Qi and her companions had just saved him, and he immediately coveted their treasure, only to be wounded by Qiao Ran’s sword. With this in mind, Qiao Ran stopped looking at the spell cultivator, turning his attention back to Meng Qi.

“He’s… careful!” At that moment, Li Che, who had been staring intently at the spell cultivator, suddenly shouted. A burst of light flared from the cultivator’s hand as he straightened up, spreading his fingers wide, conjuring a pale green light net that shot toward Meng Qi’s arm with incredible speed.
