Lin Jiu stared wordlessly at the serpent. At the moment, she was about a meter off the ground, pulled forward by an invisible force like a powerless kite. The wind messed up her hair, with several strands plastered awkwardly across her face, giving her an eerie and bizarre appearance.
The dark blood serpent shuddered, instinctively pulling its head away from her.
“Hey!” Lin Jiu grew anxious, “I’m not scared, so what are you afraid of? What, are you worried I’ll do something to you?!”
The serpent seemed to grow even more uneasy, and its speed slowed down.
Lin Jiu had a bad hunch—’it seems like this guy is planning to ditch me!’
Sure enough, she suddenly felt the tight hold around her body loosen, and the serpent that had been coiled around her swiftly slipped and flung her away! If she hadn’t grabbed onto its body in time, she would have been thrown straight to the ground!
“Hey! You can’t just abandon me like that!” Lin Jiu roared in frustration and anger.
“Hiss—” Ji Yuan’s voice made a pained sound like he had a toothache. The dark blood serpent twisted violently, trying to shake off Lin Jiu, this sticky piece of plaster.
Lin Jiu clung onto the serpent’s body like it was a tug-of-war, her slender legs flailing wildly in the wind. Of course, she soon exhausted her strength in no time. “Stop, stop for a second!” she pleaded, trying to negotiate, “I promise I won’t pester you, but you have to take me to a safe place and put me down properly!”
Ji Yuan’s blood serpent: “…” Get lost!
Lin Jiu tried reasoning with him, “Look, you just snatched me up into your embrace…”
“I did no such thing!” Ji Yuan’s blood serpent blurted out.
Lin Jiu ignored him completely and continued to complain, “Now that you’re done with me, you’re trying to dump me! If I go back like this, where’s my dignity?”
Ji Yuan’s blood serpent: “…”
“Shouldn’t you take responsibility for your actions?” Lin Jiu sniffled, “I already said I wouldn’t pester you anymore, just take me somewhere safe, please… *hick*, why are you so cruel! You abducted me and then want to throw me away, not even giving me travel expenses…”
“Enough,” Ji Yuan’s blood serpent interrupted, “I have never killed a woman before. Don’t force me to make an exception.”
“Fine,” Lin Jiu replied smoothly, “Then just put me down slowly.”
The defeated serpent, filled with exasperation, stopped behind a small sand dune. It straightened itself up, glancing at Lin Jiu with a resigned expression. “Forget it. You look pitiful, like the other women I’ve discarded. I won’t make things difficult for you. Stay here. Although Wei Liang doesn’t care much for you, he won’t completely abandon you either. He’ll find you eventually. I’m leaving now—may we never meet again.”
Lin Jiu quickly grabbed its tail, “Can you at least leave some kind of scent or something, so other devils don’t come and eat me?”
Ji Yuan’s blood serpent looked utterly speechless, “Close your eyes. Don’t peek.”
Lin Jiu covered her face with her hands but secretly peeked through her fingers. She watched as the serpent lifted its tail like a dog marking its territory against a lamppost, leaving a small *** puddle beside her.
Lin Jiu: “…”
‘So much for the whole ‘evilly charming’ persona! These men are all the same behind the scenes—worse than a dog, every single one!’
“You are truly a strange woman,” Ji Yuan’s blood serpent slithered back a few meters, eyeing her cautiously. “Although I’m rather displeased by your lustful admiration of my beauty, I strangely feel a sense of familiarity when I’m around you, almost like how I felt with my mother in the past.”
“…” She was speechless again. ‘I’m treating you as a potential crush, but you want to be my son?!’
“Ah!” Ji Yuan’s blood serpent suddenly let out a small exclamation, straightening its body with a sly grin. “Wei Liang, impressive!”
‘Wei Liang?’ Lin Jiu was stunned. ‘Have things been resolved on that side?’
With a haughty tilt of its head, Ji Yuan’s blood serpent declared, “I’m leaving!”
It slithered into the ground with a swift swish, vanishing without a trace.
Lin Jiu stared at the sky, screamed in helplessness,‘Heavens above, what kind of bizarre script am I trapped in?!’
The resurrected eldest senior brother inexplicably harbored deep hatred toward her, the aloof and stoic male lead seemed like he wanted to devour her every moment, and the charming, seductive villain who practically had her in his grasp now wanted to be her son? Clearly, side characters like her weren’t destined to possess a ruthless villain or a devoted second male lead. Aside from the female lead Liu Qingyin, who disliked her as much as in the original story, all of her other relationships have turned into a chaotic mess.
She shuffled a bit away from the *** stain on the ground, hugged her knees, and squatted in the wind, looking very pitiful.
…
On the other side, the moment Wei Liang realized Lin Jiu had been abducted, a terrifying chill surged from his body.
In a single breath, the flames engulfing the artificial devil were extinguished without a sound.
With another breath, the towering monstrous figure began to freeze from the feet up, and within a blink, the frost had reached its head.
Crash—shatter—!!
The artificial devil broke into countless fragments of ice in an instant. Ji Yuan’s pupils narrowed as he lightly tapped the devil’s shattered shoulder with the tip of his toes, his body floating up like a big crimson butterfly. With two swift flashes, he vanished into thin air.
Wei Liang did not give chase. Hands folded behind his back, he descended to the ground, ice crystals bursting out behind him like a gorgeous icy firework. Without so much as a glance back, he swept his wide sleeves and headed directly in the direction where Lin Jiu had been dragged.
Murong Chun stood there in stunned silence, unable to process what he had just witnessed. Since when had Master’s sword intent reached a level comparable to that of a devil cultivator’s Intent? Could it be… had Master just broken through?! Had he advanced yet again?!
While he was lost in his thoughts, the flying sword Wei Liang had left forgotten on the ground sprang up with a soft hum, pointing in the direction where Liu Qingyin had disappeared.
Without a second thought, Murong Chun leaped onto the sword. The flying sword shuddered lightly and transformed into a streak of light, dashing into the sky.
Compared to Lin Jiu’s experience, the dark blood serpent that had captured Liu Qingyin was far more dutiful. Coiling around its captive, the serpent sped south toward Qianqi Pass. Once past the pass, they would be in devil territory, where even a powerhouse like Wei Liang would not dare to venture recklessly.
Murong Chun pushed his cultivation to its limits, chasing southward with a growing sense of dread.

Ji Yuan is like those guys that catcall women on the street but scamper away whimpering in terror if a woman comes on in a forward way. they just want the rush of power from discomfiting someone but it’s because they have no spine they have to overcompensate and prop themselves up that way! -_- of course that type of dude then defaults to wanting someone to mommy him….she’s surrounded by deadbeats!
I hope she gets some kind of more reliable friend to commiserate with eventually, although I guess it can’t be now because she’d scamper off immediately, wily and determined to escape the vagaries of fate regardless of the male lead’s passions. And we still want that chaos to be able to reign LMAO
