WUML Ch 24 Part 4 – Lotus Shatter (IV)

Lin Jiu’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Could it be that Liu Qingyin believed Wei Liang’s recent change in behavior was due to the Devil Lord’s remnant Intent?’ She couldn’t resist glancing at Wei Liang out of the corner of her eye. His face remained impassive as he took her hand and lifted them both into the air, flying across thousands of miles to return to the main peak of the Wanjiangui Sect.

Inside the bridal chamber, the festive red bed curtains had not yet been taken down. Wei Liang closed the door with a flick of his wrist, his tall figure casting a heavy shadow over Lin Jiu. “My wife must be tired from the journey,” he lowered his gaze, his voice slightly hoarse. “It’s time for bed.”

Lin Jiu’s heart began to race. This time, her feelings were subtly different from her first night. Although she wasn’t sure whether Wei Liang was really possessed or behaved strangely for some other reason, the kindness he had shown her these past few days was undeniable.

Now that she had formed her golden core, there was no reason for Wei Liang to hold back any longer. He bent down, scooped her up in his arms, and strode toward the bed, not allowing any resistance.

Lin Jiu quickly sank into the soft bedding. “Can I refuse?” She tried to push the heavy chest looming over her petite body.

“Too late,” Wei Liang chuckled softly. His thumb slowly brushed across her forehead, gently sweeping aside a strand of hair that had fallen on her cheek, tracing her nose until eventually paused at the corner of her lips.

Just when Lin Jiu thought he might say something more, he suddenly lowered his head and kissed her. Her eyes widened in horror and she was about to struggle when a sense sensation suddenly struck her meridians, causing her to go weak all over her body.

‘The Jade Heart Sutra!’ Lin Jiu gasped; even though she had formed her golden core, the Jade Heart Sutra still had its influence over her!

Wei Liang’s lips and breath began to warm, and the slightly dark, cool fragrance around him also grew increasingly stronger. Lin Jiu’s mind went completely blank. His usually cold voice had turned husky, and with a slight chuckle, he whispered, “I was supposed to first form a Dao companionship bond with you… but tonight, I really don’t want to let you go… my wife…”

His other hand began to skilfully remove her clothes.

Just as she was about to put up a weak struggle, his lips devoured her even more strongly, giving her a clear warning—

Lin Jiu dared not move anymore. She couldn’t bear to imagine what would happen if he pried open her tightly clenched teeth. Nor could she fathom what might follow after that…

It was all about to happen!

Now, right here!

Knock, knock. Lin Jiu’s heart skipped a beat—‘Is it Liu Qingyin coming to the rescue again?!’

Wei Liang paid no attention; his lips and hands continued to move around.

“Master,” Murong Chun’s steady voice rang out, “Eldest Senior Brother has captured Doulong. We await your instructions.”

Wei Liang’s breath hitched, and his actions paused. He slowly stood up and responded, “Understood.”

Doulong was a beast that the previous Devil Lord had kept by his side during his life. According to the novel, after the Devil Lord was defeated, the beast was soon captured by the Wanjiangui Sect. Wei Liang intended to kill it, but the female lead Liu Qingyin found it too adorable and couldn’t bear to see it die, so she pleaded for its life. After its mind was wiped, Doulong was kept as her companion.

Although it had lost its intelligence, Doulong’s strength was still comparable to a late-stage Nascent Soul cultivator. When Liu Qingyin entered the Huang Chuan Secret Realm, she brought Doulong with her, which provided an extra layer of protection.

Even after Wei Liang rose from the bed, Lin Jiu remained limp.

With amusement in his eyes, he half-pulled, half-lifted her to her feet, and started to straighten her messy clothes. “Sorry to disappoint you, my wife. Next time, I’ll take you somewhere where no one can disturb us.”

Lin stared at him with despair. ‘No, no, I’m not disappointed at all, not even a little bit!’

The pair left the room and crossed the suspension bridge to Qin Yunxi’s Yunhe Peak. Entering the main hall of the abode, they saw Qin Yunxi, Gu Fei, Murong Chun, and Liu Qingyin gathered there, along with several trusted disciples, all pointing and talking about the fierce beast lying on the ground.

As Wei Liang entered, the disciples bowed their heads in unison.

“Greetings, Master.” “Greetings, Sword Monarch.”

The fierce beast Doulong was pinned to the ground by four cold blades, its limbs nailed down, lying there like a miserable trophy hunt. It was covered in mud and blood, with crisscrossing gashes, and its right leg bone was half severed, a few long, thin blades of grass stuck in the cracks of the bone—just the sight of it made Lin Jiu wince in pain.

Despite its sorry state, the beast showed no sign of begging for mercy. Baring its teeth, its bloodshot eyes glared fiercely at Qin Yunxi, a low growl rumbling continuously from its throat. No matter how you looked at it, there was nothing ‘adorable’ about this creature.

Liu Qingyin stood to the side, her expression indifferent, showing no intention of pleading for Doulong.

Qin Yunxi sheathed his sword and walked over to Wei Liang, bowing politely. “Master, I have captured the beast. Please, give your judgment.”

Lin Jiu had been keeping an eye on Qin Yunxi for a while now, observing his every move. She noticed that when he lowered his eyes, a faint, gloomy gleam flashed through them.

Wei Liang’s cold face remained expressionless, “Just kill it. There’s no point in bringing it back.”

The muscles in Qin Yunxi’s gaunt cheeks twitched slightly. “It was, after all, a mount once inseparable from the Devil Lord. Disciple didn’t dare make a decision on my own.”

Wei Liang waved dismissively, already turning to leave.

A slight frown appeared between Qin Yunxi’s brows, and after clearing his throat, he added, “There is one more thing disciple wishes to report. I ran into Wang Weizhi on the way back, and he mentioned that the Huang Chuan Secret Realm in the southern Dayu Region is about to emerge. He expressed his intention to cooperate with Wanjiangui Sect.”

Wei Liang raised an eyebrow slightly. “Wang Weizhi, huh?”

Lin Jiu’s heart skipped a beat. Wang Weizhi, the young prodigy of the Wang family, was the one who had ventured into the devil territory and discovered the deeply hidden Huang Chuan Secret Realm. According to the novel, after the realm opened and discovered its entry requirement, he made the bold decision to cripple his cultivation to the peak Nascent Soul stage and entered the realm to explore.

This person, who had all the makings of a classic protagonist in a male-oriented cultivation novel, had the bad luck of meeting Liu Qingyin and ultimately lost to her female lead halo. After leaving the secret realm, he became obsessed with her, scheming his way to take control of the Wang family, spending vast amounts of wealth and force to fight against the devil race, all in the hope of winning her favor. Every time Liu Qingyin had a falling out with Wei Liang and was heartbroken, Wang Weizhi would be there, offering comfort and companionship. Handsome and arrogant by nature, he only had eyes for Liu Qingyin, making him the classic case of a devoted second male lead.

However, according to the novel, Wang Weizhi should not have the intention of cooperating with the Wanjiangui Sect by this point. He was notoriously proud, always working alone and refusing to rely on anyone. It wasn’t until he fell for Liu Qingyin after leaving the secret realm that he transformed from a lone wolf into her loyal puppy and supporter.

‘Wang Weizhi proposing to cooperate with Wanjiangui Sect now? Something’s clearly off here…’ Lin Jiu kept her composure and continued to observe.
