WUML Ch 27 Part 1 – If I Win, Both of You Will Be Mine! (I)

Lin Jiu was startled out of her wits. How to put it? It looked as if a blood bag had fallen from above, smashing apart with a big splat. A man and a woman alone on a bed—what could have been the start of a romantic scene had abruptly transformed into a gruesome crime scene.

Lin Jiu stared blankly at the blood-splattered bedding and clothes. Strangely, the blood didn’t soak into the fabric but flowed straight downward, pooling on the nearby couch. After it drained away, everything was as clean as before, as if they had never been stained by the gory blood.

Calling the sight unsettling was an understatement; the blood converged in streams on the couch, slipping under a white robe that had fallen at the end of the seat, and began writhing violently. Before long, the figure of ‘Wang Hanling’ emerged, his neck twisted at an odd angle as he awkwardly sat up, his hollow eyes blinking warily at Lin Jiu and Wang Weizhi.

“Blood Devil Ji Yuan.” Wang Weizhi grinned, showing no sign of surprise.

His identity exposed, Ji Yuan didn’t bother pretending anymore. He tilted his head crookedly, a sinister smile curling his lips. “Wang Weizhi, is it? I’ve heard much about you.”

Lin Jiu’s heart skipped a beat. So that’s why! No wonder this ‘Wang Hanling’ acted like he’d seen a ghost when he saw her—it turned out he was Ji Yuan in disguise! And yet, this guy, who would casually relieve himself on the side of the road, had the audacity to despise her? What the heck?!

Even more amazing, she, a mere minor side character, was actually sharing a room with a major villain and the second male lead. What an achievement!

Feeling a bit inflated, Lin Jiu’s gaze swept around and landed on Wang Weizhi. His usual lazy smile on his lips, the young man reclined even more relaxedly, his long, elegantly shaped eyes narrowing as he addressed Ji Yuan with mock seriousness, “According to this woman, the only way to clear this third trial is by taking our own lives. Brother Ji Yuan, what’s your opinion?”

The left corner of Ji Yuan’s lips curled into an oddly shaped smirk. “Wang Weizhi, don’t think sucking up will earn you any mercy from me.”

Wang Weizhi responded with a smirk of his own. “If we could fight freely here, do you think I’d have let you live this long? Try not to be so ungrateful, will you?”

Ji Yuan rolled his eyes, and suddenly, as if inspired, he burst into laughter. “Wang Weizhi, do you dare to make a bet with me?”

“What kind?”

“Of course betting on who can get Huang Chuan’s legacy first. As for the loser…” Ji Yuan’s pale finger pointed at Lin Jiu, his smirk deepened as he cast a provocative sideways glance at Wang Weizhi, “The loser gets her!”

“…” Lin Jiu was dumbfounded. Although she didn’t mind developing a relationship with one of these two top-tier characters, being used as a wager—not even as a prize but as a punishment—was nothing but infuriating!

“Fine.” Wang Weizhi nodded with a look of disdain.

The black crow in Lin Jiu’s bosom had started to struggle again, trying to break free. She pressed it back down firmly and spoke up, “Did you ask my opinion?”

‘These two scoundrels completely ignore me!’

“Isn’t it inappropriate to use me for your bet?” she said again.

“Ha!” Wang Weizhi snorted coldly, not even sparing her a glance.

“There’s nothing inappropriate about it.” Ji Yuan said, “If you are with Wang Weizhi, you won’t suffer any loss. Once I’ve killed you both, I might even be kind enough to bury you as a pair.”

Clearly, this arrogant man never entertained the possibility of defeat.

“Ji Yuan, overconfidence is foolishness,” Wang Weizhi arched an eyebrow.

“Wait a second,” Lin Jiu hurriedly interrupted before they could start bickering again. “Aren’t you forgetting that I’m also a contender? If I obtain Huang Chuan’s legacy, what then? I’m part of this game; how can I be used for your bet?”

“Hmm…” Ji Yuan seemed to be mulling it over.

“Tsk.” Wang Weizhi looked utterly dismissive.

Smiling brightly, Lin Jiu concluded, “So, I should participate too. If I win, both of you would be mine.”

“…” Ji Yuan froze, a shiver coursing down his spine.

Wang Weizhi watched coldly as ‘Wang Hanling’ face, already corpse-like, turned even paler as his murky, lifeless eyes shifted sluggishly in their sockets.

Watching Ji Yuan’s discomfort only made Wang Weizhi more amused. “Interesting.” He stroked his chin, “I think it’s doable. Brother Ji Yuan, don’t tell me you’re afraid of losing to her… Or could it be you’re scared?”

How could Ji Yuan admit defeat? He raised an eyebrow and smiled wickedly. “Bring it on.”

“It’s settled!” Lin Jiu happily decided on their behalf.

From what Huang Chuan had just told her, as long as she passed the trial, she would become the rightful master of the True Illusion Mirror. Once she possessed it, winning or losing would no longer matter because she had never wanted that so-called legendary legacy—she already knew what it was.

Her goal in coming to Huang Chuan’s secret realm was only the True Illusion Mirror. With this treasure in hand, she would be free to roam the skies and seas, untouchable!

As for these two scoundrels… for now, she simply wanted to stall them, using their slight interest in her to make Qin Yunxi hesitate from acting against her. Fortunately, it seemed that her goal had been achieved, and everything was under her control.

Just as she was feeling smug, a chill suddenly spread across her body. That bone-piercing cold seemed to seep from the black crow in her arms.

This sensation inexplicably felt similar to Wei Liang’s domineering presence. She was about to take out the black crow when a loud ‘bang!’ sounded from outside. A strange gust of wind blew from nowhere, whipping up the draped curtain hanging from the bed’s edge. In the next instant, noise and clamor rushed in like a tidal wave.

It was as if the three of them had been confined in a soundproof room, and now, with the barrier lifted, they were suddenly bombarded with the cacophony of wind and voices.

At the same time, an inexplicable sensation descended upon them!

Although Lin Jiu had mentally prepared herself, knowing that once this trial began, everyone would transform into devil bodies and endure a searing pain even worse than burning fire, the intense pain surging through her body still caused her to cry out uncontrollably. Her vision darkened, and ghastly infernal laughter seemed to echo in her ears. Her head spun, and she nearly toppled off the bed.

Gasping heavily, she dug her nails deep into her palm to ground herself, gradually regaining her senses. She struggled to open her eyes and looked at Ji Yuan and Wang Weizhi.

Ji Yuan’s expression was slightly dazed, but a ridiculous smile tugged at the corners of his lips. For devils, this sensation of blood burning had long been as familiar as breathing. Though the pain was excruciating, it also brought an inexplicable pleasure.

Wang Weizhi, on the other hand, widened his delicate, narrow eyes. Blood vessels faintly emerged in the whites, his pupils contracted, and a few veins bulged on his forehead.

Seeing his discomfort, Ji Yuan clapped his hands and laughed heartily. “Exhilarating! To let you self-righteous cultivators experience what it’s like to be a devil—how truly exhilarating!”

Wang Weizhi glared heavily at Lin Jiu. His pale lips moved slightly as if he wanted to pose a question, but in the end, he swallowed his words bitterly.

She’d let them know, hadn’t she? According to her, the method to pass this trial was to pierce oneself with a sword. It was up to them to decide whether to believe it or act on it.
