WUML Ch 3 Part 1 – “Wei Liang, oh Wei Liang.” (I)

Deeply intrigued by the strong hatred that Qin Yunxi directed towards her, Lin Jiu carefully observed this severely injured man lying on the cold jade bed. As Wei Liang’s first disciple, Qin Yunxi bore a striking resemblance to his master, with both men possessing cold eyes and thin lips.

Being gazed upon so intensely and blatantly, Qin Yunxi’s somewhat dazed eyes gradually became bloodshot, and a flush of anger appeared on his pale cheeks.

The black karma lotus suddenly became active once more, with the first petal now opening up to sixty percent. Upon noticing this, a subtle smile formed on Lin Jiu’s lips. She leaned in, gently placing her delicate palm on Qin Yunxi’s limp hand, which dangled motionlessly at his side.

‘Oops, so cold!’

Before anyone could react, Lin Jiu arched her eyebrows and shifted her tone to one of compassion, accompanied by a warm, motherly smile, “Child, don’t worry, your master and mistress1 will make sure nothing happens to you! Once a master, always a father, and as his wife, I will also take care of you as if you were my own child! Rest easy, your mistress will come to visit you every day.”

Qin Yunxi’s eyes bulged, and he almost fainted on the spot.

At the same time, the half-unfurled petal of the karma lotus immediately blossomed in full. As the first of the outermost petals opened, a pure and powerful surge of warmth poured from Lin Jiu’s spiritual sea, flowing from her Baihui acupuncture point2, through her Ren and Du meridians, and into her lower dantian.3 The hodgepodge of aura in her meridians was instantly swept away, leaving her body feeling refreshed and cool, with a slight tingly sensation resembling a static shock. Lin Jiu clenched her fist lightly, feeling a newfound strength overflowing her limbs. At that very moment, she believed she could easily knock over a small cow with a single punch!

Having harvested the benefits, Lin Jiu now sincerely treated Qin Yunxi as her own son—the kind that made money for her! Her smile grew even more benevolent, filled with maternal warmth.

“You!” Liu Qingyin’s face flushed with anger. “You!”

Lin Jiu innocently tilted her head, “Hm? What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?”

‘Does the female lead intend to offer herself as a daughter?’ Lin Jiu looked at Liu Qingyin with anticipation.

Liu Qingyin was momentarily stunned. After some reflection, she realized, much to her dismay, that Lin Qiu hadn’t actually said anything wrong. ‘Once a master, always a father’ was correct—Lin Qiu was indeed married to their master, so it was part of her duty to look after her husband’s injured disciple.

There was… there was nothing wrong with that! But why was it so infuriating?!

Liu Qingyin’s eyes turned red, and she lightly stamped her foot.

Two stunning women were staring at each other. Unable to bear Lin Jiu’s gaze, Liu Qingyin was the first to break the stillness and looked away. “Eldest Senior Brother is a powerful sword immortal in the Nascent Soul stage. Although he’s severely injured now, he’s not a child, and he has a reputation to uphold. He’ll recover on his own after some quiet rest,” she stated calmly.

The karma lotus remained still, allowing Lin Jiu to secretly let out a small sigh of relief. Qin Yunxi was just a cannon fodder who didn’t even survive one chapter in the original plot. Therefore, it didn’t matter whether he hated her or not—he wasn’t capable of causing any trouble. But the male and female leads were different. For a character destined to die, it was always better to gain their favorability—after all, one shouldn’t be too inflexible when it comes to survival.

Since Liu Qingyin wasn’t the petty type who would hate someone over love, Lin Jiu saw no reason to antagonize the female lead. Casually withdrawing her hand, she put on another smile, “Looks like my good intentions have backfired. Oh, well, I didn’t even get the chance to do anything yet. I was actually planning to brew some nutritious chicken soup, fish soup, or turtle soup for him, but perhaps I was being too meddlesome.”

“On behalf of my senior brother, I appreciate your kindness, but it’s unnecessary,” Liu Qingyin said coldly.

Lin Jiu went along with it, nodding toward Qin Yunxi. “Well, it’s my duty to look after my husband’s disciples. No need to thank me.”

The patient on the cold jade bed closed his eyes, his chest heaving slightly. Sensing the karma lotus remained unmoved, Lin Jiu knew Qin Yunxi had been angered to the point of exhaustion and wisely decided to stop. To obtain the greatest benefit, one must be careful not to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs!

“Master,” after a moment of hesitation, Liu Qingyin turned to Wei Liang and said softly, “The Essence Solidifier Herb that grows in Yunshui Plain should be very helpful for Senior Brother’s treatment, but that place is occupied by the devil cultivators and hasn’t been reclaimed. Me and my senior brothers combined, our cultivations are unfortunately insufficient to sneak in and retrieve the herbs while remaining undetected. Furthermore, given the current volatile situation, I’m afraid that one careless mistake might make us the fuse for another war.”。

Lin Jiu noticed the gleam of anticipation in Liu Qingyin’s beautiful eyes. It was clear that the female lead was hoping Wei Liang would personally take action and leave his newly wedded wife behind to handle his duties.

“Master?” Noticing the lack of response, Liu Qingyin gently called out.

Wei Liang’s eyebrows moved slightly as if he had just snapped out of a trance. He glanced at Lin Jiu first, a flicker of an unreadable expression passing through the corner of his cold eyes. He then looked toward Liu Qingyin and gave her a small nod. “I see,” he finally responded; his tone was as cold as ever.

Liu Qingyin’s eyes lit up, and she immediately knelt on one knee. “Thank you, Master! Please be careful on your journey.”

“Mm.” Wei Liang grabbed Lin Jiu by the wrist and led her out of Qin Yunxi’s abode.

  1. Shiniang (师娘) literally means teacher’s wife. In this context, I am using ‘Mistress’ as its translation.
  2. TCM theory is beyond me, so here it is, a direct quotation from a scientific journal I randomly found on google: “Baihui is an acupoint of the Du meridian (the government vessel), which locates at the intersection of the line connecting the apexes of the two auricles and the median line of the head.”
  3. A Dantian (丹田) is a region in the body that serves as the center of Qi (aura).
