Wang Weizhi’s sword, still stained with Ji Yuan’s dark blood, glinted coldly as he advanced step by step toward Lin Jiu.
Lin Jiu retreated slowly until her back hit the stone wall of the cave. A few vines hung down like a curtain in front of her, obscuring much of her figure.
Wang Weizhi’s thin lips pressed into a firm line as his tall, lean shadow loomed over her, as oppressive as a mountain. The weight of his presence enveloped Lin Jiu completely, making it hard for her to breathe.
Their gazes locked, and in that instant, unspoken thoughts passed between them, each understanding the other’s intentions.
Liu Qingyin waited silently. Thick, dark green vines draped along the cave walls, partially concealing the figure behind their curtain.
In Liu Qingyin’s mind, she believed she was being merciful. Even with the situation escalating this far, she harbored no murderous intent toward Lin Jiu. All she wanted was for Wang Weizhi to remove her from the secret realm. Lin Jiu, in her view, should feel grateful—after all, Qin Yunxi sought her life, while she only wanted her out of the way.
She wasn’t particularly concerned about the issue Qin Yunxi feared. To her, ‘Wei Liang’ was still the man she had fallen in love with. No matter what had happened, she believed in her love for him and trusted he would never truly harm her. When the time came, all she needed to do was explain everything, and she was fully confident she could persuade Wei Liang to spare Qin Yunxi.
Everything would soon be fine, just as it was before. She, Master, and Eldest Senior Brother would reunite and be together as always.
As for Lin Qiu, this woman… getting rid of her would be no different from swatting away a bothersome fly. Of course there was no need to go as far as killing her; murder for love was far too wicked and despicable. She, Liu Qingyin, was not such a vicious woman!
“Just take her whirlpool; there’s no need to harm her,” Liu Qingyin called out to Wang Weizhi.
But her words came too late.
Wang Weizhi, true to his decisive nature, struck before Liu Qingyin could finish her words. Lin Jiu’s form was still partially obscured by the vines when his sword shot forward. When he pulled it again, the blade was already stained with blood. The hot blood flowed along the icy blade towards the tip, finally dripping to the ground.
Lin Jiu staggered out from behind the vines. Blood smeared her lips as a bright red bloodstain blossomed on her chest.
But Wang Weizhi showed her no mercy; one palm strike sent her flying, landing her behind Liu Qingyin.
Barely able to stand, Lin Jiu slumped onto the sand whirlpool, just managing to avoid falling off entirely.
Liu Qingyin stared at Wang Weizhi in shock. “You…!! Wang Weizhi, why did you kill her?! What grudge do you hold against her?!”
A cruel smile tugged at Wang Weizhi’s lips as his cold voice cut through the air. “My mother’s fate is unknown. Why should I show mercy to anyone who blocks my path?”
“But Lin Qiu is innocent…” Liu Qingyin murmured.
Wang Weizhi laughed scornfully. “When Qin Yunxi killed her just now, didn’t you say she brought this upon herself and deserved it? What makes you change your mind now? Are you afraid to speak ill of her while she’s alive? Don’t worry, she’ll soon be a corpse.”
Liu Qingyin’s let out a sharp gasp, her face flushing with anger and shame. She opened her mouth to argue, but no words came. Embarrassment swept over her, painting her face a deep red.
Wang Weizhi moved closer, holding the blood-dripping sword. His robes were equally stained with splashing blood, making his killing intent even more palpable.
“Don’t be so ruthless. Let her go,” Liu Qingyin finally found her words, a wave of discomfort rippled through her body, “Take her whirlpool, but don’t go to such extremes.”
But the bloodstained youth merely let out a cold, derisive laugh at her plea, “If you didn’t want her to die, why didn’t you stop me? Liu Qingyin ah Liu Qingyin, have you forgotten you are a Great Sword Immortal? If you really wanted to protect her, there’s nothing I could do. Yet here you are, all talk and no action. Where do you get the nerve to call me ruthless?”
Liu Qingyin’s frustration almost made her choke. “I didn’t… a—anyway, I’m saying this for you too! Aren’t you in a hurry to rescue your mother?”
Wang Weizhi’s sneer deepened. “I may be a villain, but at least I’m open about it. And you, Liu Qingyin? A hypocrite. Did that make us a match made in heaven? Spare me. I’d rather marry a true villain—at least their wickedness is straightforward. Better that than someone who looks so noble on the outside but rotten with hidden malice.”
“Y—you…!” Liu Qingyin’s chest heaved with anger. “I’ve been thinking of you this whole time, and this is how you talk to me? Wang Weizhi, are you even a man?!”
“Would you like to find out?” Wang Weizhi replied with a mocking grin.
Liu Qingyin’s face turned red and pale in quick succession as fury and embarrassment warred within her. How could someone like Wang Weizhi exist?! Truly… truly hateful!
As she stood frozen, flustered and unable to find a response, Wang Weizhi suddenly transformed into a streak of light, swift and deadly!
“Now!” His voice was as cold and sharp, like a glacier that had been frozen for thousands of years.
As the words left his lips, his heated sword erupted into a storm of sword aura, fierce as wind and thunder.
Liu Qingyin’s pupils contracted slightly. Out of pure instinct, she quickly raised her sword to block Wang Weizhi’s ferocious strike.
“You…!”
A strong sense of danger suddenly surged from behind. She turned her head quickly and saw Lin Jiu standing steadily on her sand whirlpool, hands clasped in front of her, her crimson lips moving softly—
“Lotus Shatter!”
Liu Qingyin drew a sharp breath. As her pupils reflected the dazzling dark-golden lotus, her face turned pale. “You two… you teamed up to deceive me!” Forced to act, she summoned an artifact from her spatial pouch to block the force of the lotus explosion.
“Mermaid Silk of Reverie, huh?” Wang Weizhi said, his lips curled into a sly smile.
The shimmering silk unfolded like a thousand reverie, scattering soft, radiant light across the cave. The dark-golden lotus was enveloped within the silk, and as it exploded, countless fragments scattered into the gentle light, producing crisp sounds with each collision.
Wang Weizhi charged forward, the myriad sword aura converging into one devastating strike. As his blade clashed with Liu Qingyin’s, blinding white light began to flare where their swords met.
“All things converge into one!”
With a sharp, piercing cry, Liu Qingyin was forced back three steps, her left foot hovering precariously in the air, barely managing not to fall off her sand whirlpool.
“Again!” Wang Weizhi raised his left hand and formed a sharp sword seal with ruthless precision.
Lin Jiu walked around the fluttering silk, calmly observing the unfolding battle from a safe distance. At this point, there was no turning back for Wang Weizhi and Liu Qingyin. Being the weakest among the three, Lin Jiu’s best strategy was to let the other two battle each other until they were both significantly weakened.
