After finishing her complaint, Zheng Ziyu began laying out her demands. “Son-in-law, don’t blame me for being desperate, but after my pitiful husband lost his life for you, no one has been able to prop the Qingyin Sect he left behind. My young son has been forced to bear the heavy responsibility of leading the entire sect, all while numerous powers are eyeing us in secret, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to devour us in one bite. And there’s also the Wang family! We offended them deeply when we arranged for Qiu’er to marry you! You can’t just stand by and do nothing, can you?”
Liu Qingyin entered the hall at that moment and, upon hearing these words, couldn’t stop herself from interjecting, “Madam Lin, you are mistaken. Countless souls were lost in that horrible battle, and many, like Sect Leader Lin, sacrificed themselves for our righteous faction. How is the aftermath solely Wanjiangui’s responsibility? As for the engagement with the Wang family, it was your family’s own doing, and you’re also the one who reneged on it. What does this have to do with my Master?”
Zheng Ziyu sneered, glancing up and down at the beautiful girl who suddenly interjects her ‘performance,’ “Oh? And who is this? Isn’t this the infamous sword immortal who doesn’t know shame? How is my daughter’s marriage any of your business? ‘Once a master, forever a father’—haven’t you learned about the immorality of incest?”
The rude words hit Liu Qingyin’s sore spot, and she nearly drew her sword on the spot.
Ignoring her, Zheng Ziyu turned back to Wei Liang, speaking righteously, “In any case, son-in-law, you must help my son secure his position as Sect Leader of Qingyin Sect. There are three spiritual veins close to us that would greatly benefit us, but I’m not being greedy—just have two of them transferred to our sect.”
Pausing for a moment, she continued, “As for the Wang family, dealing with them family won’t be difficult—you just need to say the word, right? Son-in-law, I trust you to handle it however you see fit. Also, my son—your dear brother-in-law—is only at the Foundation Establishment stage and far from capable of propping up a sect. So, either you send someone to support us, or you can transfer a few hundred years of cultivation to him, just enough to help him reach the late Foundation Establishment stage. We’re not being reasonable, so I won’t request you to help him form a golden core.”
The disciple standing nearby gritted his teeth in anger. “Master! Yesterday, a member of the Wang family came to ask whether Wanjiangui Sect had stooped to robbery! This woman went to the Dongting Wang family days ago, claiming you would send someone to wipe out their sect if they didn’t hand over the spiritual water reserved for their newborns. I kept the news quiet yesterday out of respect for your wedding, but this woman… this woman…!”
He was so furious that he couldn’t continue, and Liu Qingyin quickly stepped forward to soothe him in a soft voice.
Lin Jiu noticed a hint of dark satisfaction in the female lead’s eyes. Of course she would—having such a ‘wonderful’ mother-in-law like Zheng Ziyu would deepen Wei Liang’s disgust toward his new bride.
“Say something! Why are you acting like a mute?!” Zheng Ziyu slapped Lin Jiu hard on the arm, “You think you have become something after marrying high, huh? Are you going to ignore your little brother now? Let me tell you, you crawled out of my womb, and your responsibility in this life is to support your brother!”
Lin Jiu’s expression turned dazed. She remembered her previous life, just before her own father pushed her off a tall building—back then, her biological mother had shouted the same things at her.
“You’re a girl, what do you need money and a house for? If you have money, shouldn’t you be willingly giving it all to your little brother?”
“What house do you need? You’re already so old, why aren’t you married yet? Go find a rich man, marry him, and start asking him for money! We didn’t raise you just to lose money on you!”
“Fine! You don’t want to give the house to your brother, is that it? But what about me? I’m your mother; I gave birth to you, raised you, and I won’t count how much you owe me, all I asked you is just this house—it’s me who wants it, alright? Where in the world is there a daughter like you who is so ungrateful? Your mother asks for a house, and you won’t even give it to her?!”
“Don’t even think about it! We’re taking that house!”
The corners of Lin Jiu’s lips curled into a faint smile as her stunningly beautiful face slowly reflected the same vicious expression she had on her last breath in her previous life.
Suddenly, a cold white light flickered in front of her eyes. It was Wei Liang; the man had stepped forward at some point and raised his sleeve to push away Zheng Ziyu, who was hitting her. “These are all trivial matters,” she heard him speaking coolly. “Even if I gave all three thousand miles of Dongting to my brother-in-law, what of it?”
The moment these words were spoken, everyone froze in shock, especially Lin Jiu—she blinked repeatedly, her eyes fixed on Wei Liang in disbelief.
“I don’t want this small matter to trouble my wife any longer,” Wei Liang added. He was a peerless cultivator at the rank of the Great Sword Monarch. When he released even a small amount of his aura, it was like a sharp sword about to leave its sheath, making people dare not even breathe.
Tears gradually welled up in Liu Qingyin’s beautiful eyes.
Lin Jiu wanted nothing more than to rush over, grab the ignorant guy by the collar, and shake him awake—‘Wake up, male lead! If you keep this up, you’re going to lose the female lead!’
Just as the tension in the hall reached its peak, a disciple suddenly entered, bowing hurriedly as he delivered the news, “Reporting to the Sword Monarch, many members of the Wang family have gathered at the main gate, and they don’t look pleased!”
Zheng Ziyu immediately collapsed to the ground in fear. As she began trembling, she shouted in a mix of panic and bravado, “Son-in-law! Son-in-law! You can’t hand me over to them! I didn’t do anything to them, I swear!”
