With a cold sneer, Lin Jiu sidestepped and grabbed Lin Dong by the ankle, slamming him hard onto the ground!
“Ow—” Lin Dong crashed to the floor, a muffled thud echoing as his back hit the ground.
Zheng Ziyu lunged from her chair, her claw-like hands reaching for Lin Jiu. “How dare you!”
Lin Jiu calmly pressed Zheng Ziyu’s shoulder, giving her a light shove that sent her stumbling back several steps until she collapsed back into the ebony chair.
On the floor, Lin Dong tried to kick again, but Lin Jiu easily caught his ankle once more, spinning him half a circle before slamming him down face-first into the ground. Wasting no time, she immediately stepped on his waist and twisted his arm behind his back, locking him in place.
“Mother! Mother…!!” Lin Dong, a grown man, began to sob uncontrollably.
Zheng Ziyu tried to rush forward again, only to be pushed back into the chair by Lin Jiu each time.
Inside Lin Jiu’s spiritual sea, the karma lotus trembled slightly, reacting to the malice emanating from both Lin Dong and Zheng Ziyu.
Just as she grew excited, Lin Dong started cursing, “Lin Qiu, you bitch! Who do you think you are, laying hands on me? Just wait until you’re thrown out of Wanjiangui and sent back to Dongting! I’ll have my buddies take turns to taste you, you slut! If it weren’t for Mother selling you off to the Wang family, I’d have already given you to them to play with!”
The second lotus petal started opening, reaching a ten percent bloom.
“Oh my, what a wonderful little brother you are,” Lin Jiu said, her tone was sincere as she twisted his arms further over his head. “Too bad you won’t get the chance! But if you really care about your dear friends, I could help them out. How about I destroy your manhood and gift you to them? I’m sure they’ll appreciate your supple body!”
“Ow, ow, ow! It hurts! Mother, do something! Stop this bitch!” Lin Dong wailed in pain. “Lin Qiu, I’ll kill you!!”
Zheng Ziyu, her eyes burning with rage, threatened, “If you don’t release your brother right now, I’ll tell Wei Liang all about your past flings with men! And your undergarments—let me remind you, Lin Qiu, no man can tolerate his wife’s undergarments being in another man’s hands…”
Lin Jiu simply chuckled in response. “It doesn’t matter. I never had any intentions of marrying Wei Liang, anyway—I’ll be more than happy if we part ways. Everything is the result of your own greed. If I can get rid of you and your stupid son and live freely, that’s even better!”
“Shut up!” Lin Dong, his face flushed with anger, spat as he cursed. “Who was the bitch drooling over Wei Liang before she even got married? Don’t think my mother and I were blind! And also, I saw the curse doll you made of Liu Qingyin, still hidden under your bed! I’ll tell Wei Liang every dirty thing you’ve done—he’ll divorce you and have you thrown out in a heartbeat!”
The lotus petal reached a twenty percent bloom.
Concealing her excitement, Lin Jiu showed a wicked smile as she provoked them further, “Don’t worry, you won’t get that chance. I’ll head to the main gate right now and inform the Wang family that I’ve cut all ties with you two. All your grievances with them will be yours alone and have nothing to do with me…let alone Wei Liang.”
The air grew still for a moment; then the malice from the mother and son surged, pushing the petal to reach about fifty percent bloom.
Lin Jiu was almost reluctant to let them go.
“Your father is watching from heaven,” Zheng Ziyu gritted her teeth, spitting out each word slowly.
“Oh?” Lin Jiu smiled indifferently, “Yes, of course he is watching us. He must have been watching when this useless brat celebrated with his drinking buddies for three whole days after ascending to the position of Qingyin Sect Leader, yes? Then he must have also been listening as his darling son complained to those so-called friends about how he should have died a few years earlier to free up this great position… tsk tsk, I’m sure he’s currently seething with rage, even in death.”
“I’ll kill you! Lin Qiu, you filthy wench! I’ll kill you!” Lin Dong’s face twisted with rage, veins bulging from his forehead, contorting his handsome features into something grotesque.
“By all means, go ahead.” Lin Jiu leaned in slightly, her tone teasing. “Let me tell you, the more you hate me, the happier I feel. Really.”
Lin Dong let out a crazed laugh, trembling with anger.
The karma lotus continued blooming, reaching eighty percent, then halting.
Sensing this, Lin Jiu quickly reached out and ruffled Lin Dong’s hair. “Tch,” she muttered, her lips curled up in mockery, “such a useless brat.”
Completely drained from his rampage, Lin Dong lay on the ground, resembling a lifeless slug.
Zheng Ziyu’s face twitched violently, her features contorted in fury.
Lin Jiu let go of Lin Dong’s arm, stood up slowly, and wiped her shoe soles on his back. “Well, we’re blood relatives after all, so I won’t do anything too harsh,” she said in a calm voice. “Here’s some advice: quietly leave through the back gate and return to Dongting. Don’t try any tricks. Remember, I have nothing to fear. The only person who will suffer the consequences of your actions is yourself.”
“I’ve said all I need to. I’m heading to the main gate now. How I act in front of the Wang family depends on how you behave.” Lin Jiu folded her arms, lazily pointing her chin toward the door.
Zheng Ziyu grabbed Lin Dong, who was still trying to lash out. Shooting a long, hard look at Lin Jiu for the last time, she helped her son limp out of the hall.
As she watched them leave, Lin Jiu slumped down onto the threshold, counting on her fingers. “The little curse doll of Liu Qingyin, the old flings, the undergarments that ended up in Wang Bitan’s hands… that’s about it, right? I’ll let Wei Liang know later, and he can divorce me if he wants.”
Lin Jiu finished counting and stood up, dusting off her clothes when she suddenly heard a faint cough from behind. Startled, she turned around and saw Wei Liang’s first disciple Qin Yunxi sitting in a wheelchair, hidden in the shadows of the hall, his heavy gaze focused intently on her.

Got to feel sorry for the og Lin Qui. Her life was basically ruined by her mother. And I agree with the FL’s assessment that the og character was probably trying to get the Karma Lotus to bloom.
