ATCF Ch 30 Part 3 – He is Tong Leifeng (III)

A week flew by, and Jiang Li happily packed her belongings, ready to go home.

As she left the classroom, Lin Yu grabbed her and exclaimed in disbelief, “You’re not staying at school this week?”

Jiang Li didn’t understand why she was reacting so strongly, but she nodded and truthfully replied, “I’m going back to my grandpa’s house.”

Lin Yu looked bitter, saying, “But you didn’t mention it earlier.”

Raising an eyebrow, Jiang Li responded, “You didn’t ask, and I didn’t need to report my whereabouts to you, did I?”

Sighing, Lin Yu said, “You’re right, you don’t have to report to me, but if I had known you wouldn’t stay at school, I wouldn’t either.”

Curious, Jiang Li asked, “Are you afraid of staying alone?”

Lin Yu: …

Please do not say it so frankly, thank you!

Lin Yu waved her hand helplessly and said, “You go ahead. I also need to go back to the dorm to pack my things and prepare to leave.”

Living alone in the dormitory after the lights were turned off at night was simply too terrifying. She couldn’t even imagine how Jiang Li managed to survive alone before.

In fact, Jiang Li couldn’t quite understand Lin Yu either. In her opinion, living in the school dormitory was very safe.

With her backpack on her back, she walked toward the school gate and encountered Tong Yi along the way. She casually asked, “Are you staying on campus this week?”

Tong Yi nodded and reminded her, “When you finish writing my invitation letter, make sure to deliver it to me quickly!”

Jiang Li: …

There’s no need to remind me every day, really.

After parting ways with Tong Yi, Jiang Li reached the school gate and saw Shen Mian standing there. She planned to bypass Shen Mian when Shen Mian unexpectedly reached out and stopped her.

Jiang Li frowned. “Do you need something?”

Shen Mian nodded instantly and spoke softly, “I’m sorry.”

Jiang Li looked at her with a puzzled expression, unsure what kind of act she was putting on.

Shen Mian hesitated for a few seconds before speaking up, “Jiang Ruo told me earlier that you are a relative of their family. Because your parents helped her father, they couldn’t refuse to take you in. And Jiang Zhou, he always asked me to take care of Jiang Ruo and keep an eye on you, saying that he was worried you would bully Jiang Ruo.”

Jiang Li’s emotions didn’t fluctuate much. “Is that the reason you targeted me before?”

Shen Mian nodded with some difficulty, “I was foolish back then, being manipulated by the two siblings. But now I realize my mistake, so I’ve come to apologize to you.” She then looked at Jiang Li with hopeful eyes. “Will you forgive me?”

Jiang Li shook her head without hesitation. “In my opinion, at least 80% of apologies in this world are meaningless.”

Hearing her response, Shen Mian felt disappointed. Her voice sounded dull as she said, “I also feel that you won’t forgive me. If someone treated me the same way, I wouldn’t forgive them either.”

But she still had to apologize. If she didn’t, she felt as if a heavy stone was weighing on her, causing a sense of discomfort throughout her body.

“I won’t forgive you because the consequences have already been caused, but you don’t need to apologize to me anymore because you have already paid the price,” Jiang Li stated matter-of-factly.

Shen Mian looked up, her eyes filled with disbelief as she gazed at Jiang Li.

Jiang Li maintained a cold and indifferent attitude. “You locked me outside the dormitory, and I returned it on the spot; you tripped me during the PE exam, paying the price of having your long-distance running score reset to zero; you tried to morally blackmail me with a fake suicide attempt, only to be forced to suspend from school in the end. Aren’t these all consequences?”

Shen Mian: …

That being said, she did seem pretty miserable.

She did target Jiang Li many times before, but the only time she successfully inflicted some kind of harm was only when she tripped her during the exam.

When she made a comparison, it appeared that most of the time she was the only one playing a one-man show, not much different from a dancing clown.

Could this be what they called “bad deeds lead to bad consequences”?

Jiang Li looked at Shen Mian, who seemed almost petrified, and couldn’t help but wondered how Shen Mian would feel if she were to know that even if she hadn’t tripped her during the physical examination, she still wouldn’t have been able to score full marks.

However, Jiang Li had no intention of telling Shen Mian about this. If Shen Mian felt guilty, there was nothing she could do.

Jiang Li was about to leave when Shen Mian stopped her again.

“Jiang Li, I know you don’t really need my apology, but I still want to say sorry to you.”

Seeing her sincere attitude, Jiang Li sighed and said helplessly, “I think, before doing anything, you should consider whether you can bear the corresponding consequences, rather than blindly apologizing after making mistakes.”

Strictly speaking, Shen Mian did not harm her, so there was no need to apologize to her.

However, in that book, Shen Mian’s ‘careless’ behavior did cause a lot of trouble for the original ‘Jiang Li.’ Shen Mian might not be the main reason for ‘Jiang Li’ to become blackened in the end, but she was definitely one of the factors.

After transmigrating into the book, those events had not yet occurred, and Shen Mian was unaware of the original plot, so Jiang Li wouldn’t blame her for it.

But at the same time, she also couldn’t accept Shen Mian’s so-called apology.

Jiang Li’s indifferent attitude made Shen Mian feel even more embarrassed. She knew that no matter how many apologies she uttered, Jiang Li simply didn’t care.

She lowered her head and stepped aside, thinking that she would let Jiang Li leave first. But when she turned around, she met Jiang Zhou’s gaze.

Jiang Zhou was sitting in a wheelchair, with a person in a white shirt pushing the wheelchair behind him. In addition, there were several muscular men in black suits standing beside him, looking prepared and vigilant.

Wearing suits in such hot weather, they must have something wrong with their heads. But… it matched Jiang Zhou’s personality perfectly!

Shen Mian glanced at Jiang Li and couldn’t help but think: If Jiang Zhou brought these people here to cause trouble for Jiang Li, then she must help Jiang Li, as a way of redemption.

When Jiang Zhou saw Shen Mian and Jiang Li walking together, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows slightly. Moreover, after seeing him, Shen Mian even took a step forward, as if shielding Jiang Li behind her.

He couldn’t figure out how these two people ended up together.

If he knew what Shen Mian was currently thinking, Jiang Zhou would probably want to smash his head against a block of tofu.

Now that Jiang Li has been recognized by the Feng family, she was the darling in their eyes. How could he dare to gather a group of people to threaten or intimidate her?

If the Feng Qi ever found out about it, he would be in deep trouble!

He brought these people solely for self-protection, as that bastard Tong Yi was like a ghost, always appeared out of nowhere. Who knew when he would suddenly emerge and beat him up again!

Jiang Li wasn’t surprised to see Jiang Zhou at the school gate. After all, he was also a student at the same school.

What surprised her was that Jiang Zhou was being pushed in a wheelchair, and judging from his bruised and swollen face, it was evident that he had been beaten up.

Jiang Zhou caught a fleeting look of surprise in Jiang Li’s eyes and couldn’t help but show a self-mocking expression. “Tong Yi beat me up and sent me to the hospital for your sake. Hasn’t he told you?”

Jiang Li was taken aback, “Tong Yi?”

Seeing Jiang Li’s reaction, Jiang Zhou was certain that she truly had no idea. He pretended to sigh and said, “Tong Yi is indeed a thug who only knows how to use violence. He…”

“Tong Yi is not a thug.” Jiang Li retorted blankly.

Just as Jiang Zhou was about to continue to sow discord, he heard Jiang Li speak slowly: “He is Tong Leifeng.”1

Jiang Zhou: …
