ATCF Ch 60 Part 1 – Could It Be Jetlag? (I)

Jiang Li found interviews to be more challenging than math problems—it was a battle of wits with the reporters!

After the interview concluded, she bid farewell to her teachers and teammates and went home.

Once home, Jiang Li finally enjoyed a comfortable and leisurely time. It was summer break now, so she didn’t need to return to the school. Her family suggested she take it easy for a while and rest properly, so for the next period, Jiang Li lived like a lazy salted fish returning to the sea, binge-watching dramas and variety shows with her second aunt while gossiping about which stars were the most attractive.

Seeing his mother and cousin lying on the sofa without any care for their image, Feng Bai felt helpless. He didn’t dare to tease his mother, so he started teasing Jiang Li instead, “Xiao Jiang Li, if those who call you prodigy god saw you like this, would their filters for you shatter to pieces?”

Jiang Li, munching on popcorn, casually replied, “Let them say what they want, I don’t care.”

Feng Bai nodded, opened Weibo, and started checking tags related to the IMO.

Ten seconds later, he burst into an exploding laughter.

Professor Tan looked at his younger son with disdain, “This child might have gone mad. Xiao Jiang Li, let’s stay away from him before we get infected.”

Feng Bai’s laughter didn’t stop. He held his stomach and brought his phone to Jiang Li, saying, “Look at this picture. Isn’t it very accurate?”

Jiang Li glanced over and immediately widened her eyes. The picture Feng Bai showed her was a chibi-style illustration, depicting both her and Senior Guo incredibly vividly. Senior Guo was sitting leisurely on a huge shield, while she stood below, holding the shield up with her hands, accompanied by the caption: “Senior, I can’t hold on~”

Even more absurdly, she was also standing on a shield, with a bald man underneath holding it up for her, captioned: “Don’t worry! Uncle to the rescue.”

Jiang Li: “…”

Who in the world drew this bizarre thing?

And there were even heaps of comments praising “genius,” “fantastic,” and wanting to commission the artist for more drawings.

As Jiang Li stared at the chibi man with only a few hairs on his clean head, she was speechless.

This bald old man, how did he resemble her third uncle? If Third Uncle knew he was depicted like this, he would probably vomit blood out of anger!

Jiang Li scrolled through the comments and found that some people were trying to inform others that Mr. Feng Qi, the academic superstar, was actually known for his good looks and not a bald old man. Unfortunately, few believed their statement.

It wasn’t until someone directly uploaded a cover of a medical journal featuring Feng Qi that the surprised crowds immediately started a heated debate discussing the relationship between appearance and genetics.

Yet, some remained stubborn, insisting the comic’s depiction of the uncle was more realistic. The handsome man on the medical journal cover should be a mass delusion!

From the moment he saw that illustration, Feng Bai’s laughter hadn’t stopped. His shoulders shook as he said between tears and laugh, “Do you think Third Uncle would be thrilled if he found out how he was drawn here?”

He then answered his own question, “Of course he would! Well, this illustration was drawn by Xiao Jiang Li’s big fan, and Third Uncle dotes on her so much, he would surely give her this bit of lenience!”

As for the explanations in the comment area and the real photos of the handsome genius researcher that some commenters were trying to clarify, Feng Bai couldn’t care less. Just treat him as selectively blind!

At his remark, Jiang Li pondered for a moment and said, “If you want to know how Third Uncle would react, it’s actually quite simple.”

“How so?” Feng Bai asked.

Professor Tan flicked her silly son’s forehead, “Just send this picture to your Third Uncle now, and you’ll see his reaction.”

Feng Bai was tempted but hesitant, “Would Third Uncle beat me up for this?”

Jiang Li shook her head, “Third Uncle isn’t that violent. Plus, he’s so magnanimous, he’ll probably just laugh it off.”

After thinking it over, Feng Bai said, “I still don’t dare. But I can send the picture to Grandpa and let him forward it to Third Uncle.”

Having said that, Feng Bai saved the picture and opened his grandfather’s WeChat account to send it over. Less than ten seconds after the message was sent, Feng Bai received a reply. He opened it to find that his grandfather had posted the picture in the family group chat, tagging Third Uncle and asking if the drawing was accurate.

Feng Bai burst into laughter, “I’m really looking forward to seeing Third Uncle’s expression when he sees this. But he’s probably busy and won’t have time to reply.”

But to Feng Bai’s surprise, Feng Qi quickly replied, even commenting that the artist had good skills, capturing Xiao Lizi’s charm vividly with just a few strokes.

Feng Bai was shocked, “Has Third Uncle not fully woken up yet?”

Jiang Li’s lips curved slightly, and she sent a message to the group chat: [Third Uncle, Third Brother is asking if you’ve not fully woken up yet?]

Feng Qi replied swiftly: [I’m awake enough to beat a brat.]

Feng Bai looked at Jiang Li with a grievance, “Xiao Jiang Li, you’re stirring up trouble, you know?”

Jiang Li looked innocent, “But that’s exactly what you said.”

Professor Tan added fuel to the fire, “Well, you said it yourself. I heard it too.”

Feng Bai: “…” Why is it always he who gets hurt?

To make amends, Feng Bai quickly tagged Feng Qi in the group chat and sent a message: [Third Uncle, don’t you think that the artist’s portrayal of you really damages your image? You’re much more handsome than the uncle in the illustration.]

Feng Qi replied: [Only frivolous people focus on appearances.]

As Feng Qi sent that message, Jiang Li almost simultaneously posted: [I also think Third Uncle is very handsome.]

Feng Bai looked at Jiang Li with a gleeful expression, “Third Uncle says we’re being frivolous.”

Jiang Li: …

However, Feng Qi quickly sent another message to the group: [My previous message was only directed at men in their early twenties.]

This time, it was Jiang Li’s turn to look at Feng Bai gloatingly, “I’m not a man and I’m not in my early twenties, so Third Uncle shouldn’t be talking about me.”

“!!!” Feng Bai wanted to protest: Third Uncle, that’s a blatant double standard!!!

Following that, Feng Qi sent another message: [It’s adorable for girls to be concerned about looks.]

Even Professor Tan couldn’t help but laugh at this. She took out her phone and joined the chat: [I think what A’Qi said makes a lot of sense.]

Feng Bai didn’t want to speak anymore. In this family, he might as well just be everyone’s punching bag!

Jiang Li picked up a pear from the coffee table and began to peel it. Since her second aunt didn’t eat pears, she divided the pear into two after peeling it and handed one half to Feng Bai, “Third Brother, have some pear.”

Feng Bai deliberately made an exaggerated expression, “But I don’t want to be separated from you…”

Jiang Li shivered, “If you don’t eat it, fine, I’ll eat it myself.”

Seeing that he had grossed her out, Feng Bai instantly felt better. He snatched the half pear and quickly munched on it.

Jiang Li: “…”

In this family, the most childish person was certainly Third Brother. Even though he was already twenty-one, he always did things that were both funny and ridiculous.

Jiang Li shrugged and began to eat her pear, continuing to watch the variety show with her second aunt.
