After the two left, Lu Yaoyao and Chao Muxue exchanged a look, and the atmosphere instantly relaxed, “It’s good you came, or I really wouldn’t know what to do.” Chao Muxue smiled softly.
“It was just a coincidence.” Lu Yaoyao waved her hand but couldn’t help asking, “Why did you end up wanting to help her?”
Sang Yunsi was about to leave after receiving her sarcasm, but Muxue’s words seemed to undo all that.
Chao Muxue grimaced, “I regretted it as soon as I said it. It was impulsive of me.” She sighed, “It’s no wonder she’s considered the most beautiful in the Cultivation Realm. Even as a fellow woman, I can’t help but soften at the sight of her.”
Lu Yaoyao tilted her head. Was that Fairy Yunsi really that beautiful? To her, if her Father and Daddy were both women, that Fairy Yunsi would at best rank third… no, there was also Brother Yuanyuan. Fourth rank, then.
Regardless, being beautiful didn’t justify her stubborn, one-sided pursuit, especially after the other party had clearly shown no interest. Even worse, she even bothered unrelated people for her selfishness. Lu Yaoyao’s time in Guiyuan was still short, yet she had seen this Fairy Yunsi several times now.
Lu Yaoyao didn’t understand why Fairy Yunsi was so persistent. Yes, Father was indeed very outstanding, but he was not interested. When she asked about Fairy Yunsi a while back, Father had to pause and recall who she was. Despite Fairy Yunsi’s unilateral chasing for decades, Father only remembered her as a disciple of an acquaintance.
Maybe it was prejudice, but Lu Yaoyao just didn’t like her. Of course, Lu Yaoyao’s prejudice wasn’t because Fairy Yunsi liked her Father, but because of the bad first impression during their first meeting.
“Muxue, can you see His Venerable?” Lu Yaoyao suddenly asked; her eyes were hopeful. If Muxue could see her Father, she would definitely tag along. It had been days since she saw him!
Chao Muxue felt like crying, “No, I’ve never gone to see His Venerable, and I don’t even know if he would be willing to see me.”
It was widely known that His Venerable was a recluse and rarely allowed audiences. Except for the Sect Leader, only Lu Junyang could guarantee a meeting. Others depended on luck. Although Chao Muxue was the youngest disciple of Sect Leader Lu and technically His Venerable’s martial niece, she didn’t know if she had that honor.
“Yaoyao, what should I do?” Chao Muxue looked dejected.
“I don’t know either!” Lu Yaoyao sighed. The teleportation jade given by Father only brought her to East Ninth Peak, but he wasn’t there; he was at the peak of the extreme snow mountain, and she couldn’t reach him.
The two looked at each other, speechless.
Chao Muxue sat on the grass, idly plucking a blade.
Lu Yaoyao squatted beside her.
“Yaoyao, what kind of woman do you think His Venerable likes?” Chao Muxue mused, “Fairy Yunsi is so beautiful, yet she can’t catch his eye. How excellent must a woman be to do so?”
Lu Yaoyao tilted her head, “I don’t know.” She couldn’t imagine what kind of woman could stand beside her father, a question probably the whole Three Realms were curious about.
“I think…” Chao Muxue was about to share her thoughts when she turned and saw Lu Yaoyao squatting beside her, looking cute and chubby.
“You’re still young.” Chao Muxue sighed. She wished she could discuss everything with her best friend, but alas, the said best friend was too young!
Lu Yaoyao solemnly replied, “I’m not a little baby. I understand all you’re saying. It’s about love and romance, right? I understand.”
Chao Muxue smiled, “What do you think?”
“I think the so-called standard of liking someone is about what makes your heart move. Whoever does that is your standard.” After saying this, Lu Yaoyao nodded in approval.
“You make sense.”
“Of course.” Lu Yaoyao nodded again, then stopped midway, realizing something was off. Why did her voice suddenly change?
Lu Yaoyao turned around to find Wen Zixing squatting behind them. “When did you get here?” She asked.
“I just arrived. I heard that last sentence.” Wen Zixing replied. The two were so engrossed in their conversation and failed to notice his approach.
Chao Muxue greeted Wen Zixing, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then stood up, “I need to go and attend to some matters. I have to think of a way to possibly convey Fellow Daoist Sang’s message.”
“Alright.” After thinking for a bit, Lu Yaoyao said, “I’ll also help. If I can see His Venerable, I’ll definitely convey the message.”
Chao Muxue smiled, “I know. Thank you.”
Lu Yaoyao and Wen Zixing watched as Chao Muxue left.
Wen Zixing moved closer to Lu Yaoyao and squatted beside her, sighing silently.
“What’s wrong?” Lu Yaoyao noticed Wen Zixing seemed preoccupied.
Wen Zixing glanced at Lu Yaoyao, hesitated, and then sighed deeply. “Is Eldest Senior Brother Lu coming back?”
“Yes, I heard he’s on his way.”
“And Fairy Yunsi is here too, right?”
Lu Yaoyao nodded, “She just arrived today, she was just here.”
Wen Zixing sighed heavily, “Ah—” There gone the Jitian secret realm arc! The plot, already beyond recognition, now deviated even further. His butterfly wings seemed to be fluttering too powerfully! He wasn’t sure if these changes were good or bad…
Lu Yaoyao, holding her chubby cheeks, commented, “Xingxing, sighing too much will make you age.”
“Don’t try to fool me. Cultivators can maintain eternal youth and won’t age.”
“…” That’s true.
Wen Zixing, a few beats slow, eventually caught up, “You just said you’d help? Help with what?”
“Fellow Daoist Sang wants to see His Venerable and is asking Muxue to help convey her message.”
Wen Zixing breathed a sigh of relief. Although the plot had diverged somewhat, some directions were still consistent with the original.
In the original plot, Chao Muxue was the sole personal disciple of Dao Venerable Hengwu. As a side character defined by her unrequited love for the elusive Venerable, Fairy Yunsi, the number one beauty of the Cultivation Realm, played a significant role in several storylines. There was a part where Fairy Yunsi, deeply infatuated with the Venerable, made repeated attempts to meet him. Fairy Yunsi, putting aside her pride and image, frequently visiting Guiyuan Sect, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Dao Venerable, yet she never once succeeded. Following the Venerable’s acceptance of Chao Muxue as his disciple, Fairy Yunsi adopted an indirect tactic, seeking Chao Muxue’s assistance to fulfill her wish…
However, this wasn’t supposed to happen at this point in the story, but rather after the events of the Jitian secret realm.
It seemed that the story was still heading in the same direction, even if Chao Muxue wasn’t His Venerable’s disciple. This must be a case of different paths leading to the same destination.
Ah, but wait—the story not changing and running toward the bad end is what he should be worried about!
Wen Zixing cradled his head, feeling his brain was about to explode. Is it better to change the plot or not?
Lu Yaoyao tilted her head, “Xingxing, what’s wrong?”
Wen Zixing grimaced, “I’m just very troubled.” He knew too much.
“Troubled about what?”
Wen Zixing spoke gravely, “You wouldn’t understand.”
Lu Yaoyao rolled her eyes, feeling underestimated, “I probably know more than you guys.”
Wen Zixing patted Lu Yaoyao’s head, smiling but not speaking further, then changed the subject, “What should we do next?”
Lu Yaoyao swatted Wen Zixing’s hand away, “I don’t know.” Everyone from the sect leader, master, elders, senior brothers and sisters… were all bustling around busily, but here they were, with nothing to do, squatting and counting passing ants.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up, “I know, we can wait for Brother Junyang at the sect gate!”
Wen Zixing nodded, “That’s a good idea!”
The two hurried to the sect gate, essentially just changing their location to continue squatting. After two days of waiting, they finally saw Lu Junyang approaching. Lu Yaoyao waved her small hand and ran towards him, “Brother Junyang!”

I have to laugh that Wen Zixing thinks he’s the butterfly disrupting the plot of the book, when we all know its our *very mature* fifteen year old child.
Haha! I thinks it’s funny that Wen Zixing thinks it’s his existence that has disrupted the plot when he hasn’t actually done anything significant other than tell Lu Yaoyao about the existence of spies in the sect and his conspiracy theory involving demons and devils. It’s just interesting that he came to such a conclusion because usually transmigrators and reincarnators only make huge differences when taking drastic actions and not just by existing, lol.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
