DDDV Ch 159 Part 3 – A Harmonious Family of Three (III)

Realizing the truth, Lu Yaoyao stood up with her hands on her hips and shouted, “Daddy, I know you’re here! If you have the guts to mess with me, show yourself!”

Right, Lu Yaoyao was certain, it must be her Daddy. Aside from him, no one else would play tricks while she was having fun.

Puffing up in anger, Lu Yaoyao was about to continue shouting when she felt a knock on her forehead. Quickly covering her forehead, she looked up to see Lu Qingyu, in his usual red robes, standing a couple of steps away from her. Her mood instantly lifted, and she joyfully hopped towards him, forgetting his childish action just now, “Daddy, Daddy, you’ve heard, right? Father announced me as his daughter to the public.” Lu Yaoyao knew Daddy wouldn’t have appeared at such an event, but with the news spreading so widely, he must have heard. Still, she felt a bit of regret that he couldn’t witness it himself.

Lu Qingyu curled his lips disdainfully, “This Venerable also announced your identity in front of all devils, but I didn’t see you this happy.” He had even specifically organized a grand ceremony, while Yao Jiuxiao merely took advantage of an occasion to mention it casually; his effort was many times greater.

Lu Yaoyao sweetly responded, “I was very happy then too!”

Lu Qingyu snorted coldly.

“Daddy, can you take me to see Father?” Lu Yaoyao cajoled with her sweetest voice. Father had gone into seclusion again, and she was so bored staying at East Ninth Peak alone. It had been a long time since their family of three had been together. She missed her Father. On the day of the grand ceremony, she followed her Father closely, but couldn’t have a proper conversation with him.

Lu Qingyu was displeased, “Isn’t it enough to have me by your side?” What a greedy little brat

Lu Yaoyao pouted inside. Daddy was so childish that he even played tricks when she was having fun alone. She didn’t want to be played by unscrupulous Daddy! Still, Lu Yaoyao showed a sweet smile and continued to coax Lu Qingyu,

“Daddy, please. You are the best daddy in the world~”

Finally, Lu Qingyu could no longer stand her coquettish act, “Alright, alright.”

He picked up Lu Yaoyao by the back of her collar with one hand, gave her a little shake, and exclaimed in surprise, “It seems you’ve gotten heavier.”

Lu Yaoyao dangled her little legs, not at all upset, “Daddy, you’re lying. My size and weight are fixed for now; they won’t change.” Lu Yaoyao spread her arms as if it were the most natural thing in the world, “Daddy, hold me. It’s uncomfortable being carried like this.”

Lu Qingyu snorted coldly and cradled the little girl in his arms, “You sure know how to enjoy yourself.”

Lu Yaoyao smiled sweetly, her happiness evident. Next to Lu Qingyu’s tall and slender body, Lu Yaoyao’s small figure looked even more rounded and short in contrast. Lu Qingyu and Yao Jiuxiao were of similar height, around 1.9 meters, and both carried themselves with an upright posture, broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs. They weren’t skinny nor did they appear bulky, but instead emitted an air of regal elegance.

Cultivators seldom have a short and stout appearance, with long legs being almost a standard feature. Even if a cultivator’s face wasn’t particularly handsome or pretty, their stature and demeanor were nothing short of extraordinary. For example, among Lu Yaoyao’s own senior brothers, even the baby-faced third senior brother stood over 1.8 meters tall. Female cultivators were also generally tall, with most around 1.7 meters. Lu Yaoyao’s aspirations weren’t lofty; she would be content with a height of 1.68 meters once she reached the stage of cultivation where she could reshape her physical form during the Nascent Soul stage.

So, Lu Qingyu took Lu Yaoyao to the Extreme Peak. It was Lu Yaoyao’s first time at the peak of the extreme snow mountain, the place where her father usually went into seclusion. Everywhere she looked, there was a snowy landscape, but she didn’t feel the cold thanks to Lu Qingyu’s barrier. Staying snuggly in her Daddy’s arms, the little dumpling’s curious eyes darted around.

Lu Yaoyao soon spotted Yao Jiuxiao, standing at the peak of the snowy mountain. He stood with his back to them, his unblemished white robe almost blending into the snow. As if sensing their arrival, he slowly turned around.

Lu Yaoyao waved her little hand, “Father!” Then she urged her Daddy to hurry and take her over.

Yao Jiuxiao also walked towards them.

After walking a short distance while carrying Lu Yaoyao, Lu Qingyu put her down. As soon as Lu Yaoyao was free, she quickly ran to Yao Jiuxiao’s side. “Father, did I disturb you?” Lu Yaoyao was worried that her arrival would affect Father’s seclusion. If he was still cultivating, she planned to go back to East Ninth Peak with Daddy.

“No disturbance,” Yao Jiuxiao’s expression, usually as cold as ice and snow, showed a hint of warmth when he looked at his daughter.

Lu Yaoyao relaxed and began to chatter like a lively little bird.

Yao Jiuxiao turned and walked towards the only wooden cabin on the top of the snowy mountain. Even with a little dumpling tailing him, his speed wasn’t affected.

Lu Yaoyao complained, “A lot of people from various sects came to watch me. I feel like a rare animal! Everyone wanted to see me and Martial Uncle couldn’t drive them away. I’m so annoyed!”

“But those sect leaders and elders gave me many expensive gifts when they met me. I originally didn’t want to accept them, but Martial Uncle told me to, so I did. My little pouch is full now…” Lu Yaoyao chattered away.

After the grand ceremony finished, the Guiyuan Sect returned to its normal activities. Lu Yaoyao’s classes had also resumed, but with so many guests still lingering just to take a look at her, she couldn’t attend yet. Fortunately, the assessment time was still far away, so she could catch up on her lessons slowly.

After Lu Yaoyao finished complaining, she happily ran out and wandered around to see what her father’s cultivation place was like.

Lu Qingyu didn’t even wait for Yao Jiuxiao to invite him in as he entered the wooden cabin. He casually sat on a cushion, making himself comfortable while Yao Jiuxiao was brewing tea across from him. After pondering for a moment, he suddenly smirked: “I heard that His Venerable’s Dao companion is incomparably beautiful, even more beautiful than the Cultivation Realm’s number one beauty. Apparently, it ignites His Venerable’s possessiveness, who then hides her from others. Well, now This Venerable’s curious. Why not let me have a look?”

Lu Qingyu didn’t expect that rumors about Yao Jiuxiao would spread so far in just one day. Even cultivators were not immune to gossip. Lu Qingyu was shocked when he first heard it, never expecting such a thing. Intrigued, he remained in the city for a while and delighted in hearing numerous versions of the rumors.

“How does it feel to be the subject of gossip? The entire Cultivation Realm is spreading rumors about His Venerable’s romantic history,” Lu Qingyu laughed wildly. This was the difference between the Devil Realm and the Cultivation Realm. Although both of them were the supreme power in their respective realm, Lu Qingyu, unlike Yao Jiuxiao, was an outright tyrant. He ruled the Devil Realm with an iron fist, and no one dared to disobey his orders, let alone treat his private matters as gossip fodder.

Even though Yao Jiuxiao was revered by human cultivators and was recognized as the pillar of the Cultivation Realm, he did not rule over them. Dao Venerable Hengwu protected the entire Cultivation Realm. Despite high cultivation and unparalleled prowess, he was indifferent by nature, without desires or wants, and wouldn’t indiscriminately kill innocents. People respected and idolized Dao Venerable Hengwu but didn’t fear him. Therefore, rumors didn’t stop just because the protagonist was the Dao Venerable. On the contrary, the rumors spread even more widely and fervently because of this identity.

In front of Lu Qingyu’s deliberate provocation, Yao Jiuxiao remained silent.

“Let me think… Someone said that Dao Venerable Hengwu actually has countless lovers in secret. Whoever bears his child can rise to power… It was said so convincingly. What is Your Venerable’s opinion?” Lu Qingyu tapped his forehead lightly with his finger, clearly enjoying himself.

Although the person who dared to make this remark was hammered by the surrounding crowd, it didn’t stop Lu Qingyu from making fun of Yao Jiuxiao.

Yao Jiuxiao acted as if he hadn’t heard anything. He focused on making tea, his movements graceful and pleasing. Even if Lu Qingyu unceremoniously grabbed the first cup of tea he brewed, it didn’t make him lift his gaze.

Lu Yaoyao finally returned after making a run around the wooden cabin. The top of the extreme snow mountain was very simple, with no scenery to admire, only a training ground. However, the ice was very solid. Lu Yaoyao used her spiritual power to knock on it for a long time, but it didn’t leave a mark. If the ice were used for ice skating, it would definitely be more fun than skating on the frozen lake at their Cangshan home. However, her friends from Cangshan were not there, so Lu Yaoyao was not interested in playing alone.

It was fine if she didn’t think about it, but once she did, Lu Yaoyao missed her friends from Cangshan Mountain. She didn’t know when she would see them again.

Suddenly struck by yearning, Lu Yaoyao completely lost interest in playing, so she ran back to the wooden cabin.

As Lu Yaoyao barged inside, she saw her Father and Daddy sitting face to face, harmoniously conversing together. Lu Yaoyao was surprised. When did Father and Daddy become so friendly?

She saw her father pouring a cup of spiritual tea on the small table, still emitting steam. She picked it up, took a gulp, then put down the empty cup and joined in the gossip. “Daddy, they think you’re my mother!”

Crack! The cup in Lu Qingyu’s hand instantly shattered into dust.
